Special thanks: Omg ty so much ReKKie! I was becoming discouraged by so many hits but so few reviews, I was considering discontinuing this story and attempting another. I just want to thank you. I was going to wait until next week to release this chapter but I don't think the first chapter alone does the trick for people. So here you are, chapter two up and ready to go, for you Rekkie ^^.

Lukas woke late that day, far later than he should have. He had already missed his first five hours of the day, and felt that there really was no need to get up, showered, and dressed for two more. He spent the rest of his time in the infirmary, eating Jell-O and watching television. His fun was spoiled though when Mr.Gordon showed up.
“Luke why didn’t you go to your classes today?”
He couldn’t look him in the face; he hated it when he disappointed him. The man did so much for him he couldn’t bare letting him down.
“I woke really late…I didn’t feel like getting up for only two more hours.”
He sighed heavily and sat on the edge of his bed.
“Well the nurse said you’re okay to release. And I gathered your school work from today.”
He handed him a fully stuffed folder of papers and Lukas took note of the stack of textbooks in a far chair of his room.
“But the good news in all of this is your new roommate is willing to help you with all of this. He’s a straight A student, and it’s a good opportunity for you two to get to know each other.”
Lukas nodded and got out of bed, he didn’t want to leave the safety of the infirmary but he had to sometime. He always felt this way when the nurse released him.
“I’m just going to jump in the shower and then I’ll go. What’s my dorm number now?”
Lukas walked to his bathroom and began stripping off his clothes, leaving them in a pile in the floor by the door.
“It’s 113, do you need me to write it down someplace or can you remember?”
Lukas stared at himself in the body mirror on the door, a sad placid look in his eyes.
“No it’s alright, 113 I’ll remember.”
He listened as Mr.Gordon left his room, the door making it’s swoosh sound as it closed. He ran his fingers coolly across his scars. There were hundreds of them, wide white crisscrossing scars along his thighs between his legs and on his buttocks. Even as high as his slender hips and lower back, and just over his sex. They were hideous reminders of why he should have died, of why he was the way he was. He ripped his gaze away from the mirror and forced himself into the shower, the scalding hot water on his skin relaxed him, made him feel clean. He stood in the rush of the water until it ran cold and he had to turn the water off and dry himself. He towel dried his hair as it tried to droop into his eyes like it always did.
He examined the large purple bruise on his cheek and the wide green-yellow colored one on his ribs. He had been sleeping when he was attacked, a fist striking hard on his cheek and knocking him out of bed, sending his mind spinning. He almost blacked out, and would have save the pain of kicks to his ribs keeping him awake. He remembered counting them, unable to pull himself up or defend himself. One…two…three…four…five…it was six when his door slammed open and light shined in to blind him. Boys across the hall heard the noise and came to see what it was, they didn’t help him though, no one did until he had been pulled to his feet by his hair and punched again in the cheek. His own roommate beat the living daylights out of him, he wanted to live alone but it was against school policy. Something about it being unsafe to room alone…more like unsafe to room with a jock.
Lukas glanced at the clock, he had wasted an hour and a half, he could linger no more. He dressed himself and gathered his things to find his new dorm room and meet his new roommate who hopefully wasn’t a football player. It was dark again by the time he came to his dorm room door. 113, wasn’t exactly a lucky number, but Mr.Gordon seemed sure this time things would be different. He hoped his keen intuition was right. Lukas raised his hand awkwardly to knock but then thought better of it, this was his dorm too, would his new roommate care if he just walked in? He decided better of that and knocked anyway, if not shyly. He heard a voice welcome him in and felt that it was safe to enter. When he walked in he was surprised to see his room already set up, desks, computers, everything. Even his belongings were neatly packed into boxes at the end of his bed to be unpacked when he pleased. But even more interesting to him was the youth sitting on the bed opposite his. He was cross-legged with a guitar on his lap and he was playing the most beautiful song he had ever heard.
His hair was tickling his nose and obstructing his view of the strings but it didn’t really matter. His eyes were closed as he felt the music more than watched it. Lukas’ heart climbed into his throat, he was going to be in trouble with this boy. He stopped playing long enough to smile his beautiful smile at him and say hi.
“You must be Lukas, I’m Alex.”
He continued his melody but he wasn’t so into it now, his attention was split as Lukas closed the door and collapsed on his bed, throwing his make up work on the floor.
“You can call me Luke if you want, it’s what Mr.Gordon calls me.”
Alex nodded to him and continued playing.
“Is that your homework?”
He set down his guitar and went straight for the work; Luke felt a little defensive all of a sudden. This boy he didn’t even know was going through his things. But Alex seemed oblivious, and Luke wasn’t about to tell him no. He was much larger in build than Luke was, with wide shoulders and a more matured body, Luke’s would never develop that far. He felt suddenly cautious…did Mr.Gordon tell Alex about him?
“So…what did Mr.Gordon tell you?”
Alex just shrugged and thumbed through his missed work.
“Not a lot, just that you need a friend and that you have secrets. But he said it wasn’t his place to tell me and that you would when you want to.”
His gaze was so heavy as he looked at him, his steal gray eyes searching for a fault in him.
“What was he talking about Luke?”
Lukas felt his face growing red with blush, he couldn’t tell this boy what Mr.Gordon was talking about, what would he think? He quickly rolled over on his bed to hide his face from Alex’s searching eyes.
“I dunno, he gets like that sometimes, but he’s a good guy don’t get me wrong.”
Alex was quick to change the subject, he was intuitive too, he hoped not too much so.
“Are you going to do your makeup work?”
Luke just shook his head and closed his eyes. His head was starting to hurt again.
“No, there’s really no use I’m failing anyway.”
Alex organized the papers he had gone through and placed the pile of work on his desk.
“C’mon this stuff is easy, you and me can finish it in no time.”
Luke rolled over to face him again, he smiled at him but his eyes were still searching, he wished he could rip his eyes out.
“I guess so, can you help me from here though, my head is starting to hurt again.”
Alex obliged and brought the work to him, pulling up a chair so he had a place to sit too. They worked on history first for almost an hour before Alex changed the subject again.
“Why were you in the infirmary?”
Luke didn’t meet his heavy gaze, only continued to work while he spoke.
“I had gotten beat up, isn’t that obvious?”
Alex laughed at his sarcastic tone but didn’t let up.
“By who though? Who would beat you up?”
Luke mumbled under his breath, a flash of sadness in his eyes that was gone as fast as it came.
“A lot of people would…”
“But why?”
Luke closed his books and put the work away leaving Alex stunned at his sudden closure.
“They just don’t like me okay.”
He didn’t even bother to change clothes, only threw the covers over his head and tried to go to sleep again. Sleep was safe, it was good, and it was the only way away from a world that hated him.
***********************************************************
Alex stared at him sadly for a while, Luke was hurting, he could feel it. He understood why Mr. Gordon was so concerned for the boy, but what was he so angry about? He sighed and gave up for the night, realizing that he had pushed too hard for just meeting the boy. Alex was a year older than Luke, and had a good sixty pounds on the youth. Luke was much shorter than Alex too, probably reaching only to his chest, or chin maybe. He pulled off his shirt over his head and let his jeans drop to the floor before crawling into bed.
**********************************************************
Lukas listened for a time until he heard Alex’s breathing even out and grow soft. The boy was asleep. He rolled over quietly and stared at his new roommate. He couldn’t believe it until he saw the clothes lying on the floor. All his other roommates knew his sexual status, and refused to sleep in only their boxers for fear of him. But Alex didn’t care, or he was completely oblivious. Lukas’ breath caught in his throat as his gaze went from the clothes to the boy. He was lying on his back, his hands behind his head and his covers pulled only over his legs up to his hips. Lukas swallowed hard, Alex was very well built, even in the dark he could count a six-pack. But he was all lean muscle, not the bulkiness of a football player, maybe a basketball player. His skin was smooth, save his underarm hair and a small happy trail from his belly button to someplace under his blankets. Lukas felt himself growing hard and threw himself over again, his back facing Alex. He wasn’t going to do this, he had to suppress everything or else he would push Alex away faster. He forced himself to close his eyes and try to go to sleep but his throbbing erection made it hard to do, it was a long while before Lukas finally slipped into sleep.
A/N: tada! I hope you liked it, wow Lukas is a little self loathing...he gets over it don't worry, with a little help, but that's not until later >.O Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it, the next chapter will be up next week as scheduled before. Please stick around, until then xoxoxoxox!
