Chapter Two

AN: Okay, so I'm lazy, no chapter names. Sorry, folks. Please, please review if you like the story. Obviously people are reading it, I'd like to know how I'm doing. This style of writing is a bit unfamiliar to me, it's not really... third person, not completely first. So please give me constructive criticism about it. This part switches POVs a bit. Thanks. ^_^ Oh, and sorry, this chapter is very short, my next one will be longer.

Jess: You're the only reviewer, so thank you very much for taking the time to let me know you appreciate my work. ^_^

------------------------------------------------------------------

Night finally fell and I escaped the library, slipping through the shadows towards my home. Being an immortal creature, I was careful to be average unlike so many of my counterparts. I had finally settled down though, for as long as possible because I wished to be near to Lucas; my home was simple and inexpensive, a small apartment in the middle of the city. Okay, so it was not inexpensive, but in comparison to the extravagant homes owned by other immortals, it was cheap. I was always happy to get home, and it showed as I unlocked the door. Finally, I slipped in, heading for my room.

My home was nicely decorated—I brought someone in for it because I do not have the eye for colors and designs. I can not help but appreciate the finer things that are available in this time period. Televisions, microwaves, cell phones, and more—they all amaze me. After opening the door to my master bedroom, I collapsed wearily onto the somewhat coarse sheets. I disliked sleeping all night, but after being up all day to visit with Lucas, I needed the rest. It did not take long for me to drift off in the deep sleep vampires are gifted with—not as good as during daylight, but good at the same time.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lucas’s POV~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Over all, I love my mother very much, but I hate that she tries to keep me from Azrael. I would understand it more if she was trying to keep me from him because he is a vampire, because it would make sense that she was worried for my well being, but it was because of his gender.
She always wondered why I was so quiet on the rides home from the library, and she often tried to get me to talk, to tell her what I had studied at the library—anything to bridge the growing gap between us. It never worked, for hours after leaving Rae, all I could think of was his kisses, cuddles, and words; I have never experienced anything like the feelings they brought.
I loved Azrael enough that I would very willingly give my life just to be with him, vampire or not. I understood when he told me that he would not—could not turn me into a vampire once I was free to move out of my home… well, I tried to understand. He once offered to allow me to live with him—he did not know for a long time that I decided yes as soon as the offer was put on the table; as I drifted to sleep after visiting with Rae, the offer remained on my mind.
------------------------------------------------------------------
Like I said, short. But, I swear, the next one will be longer. Remember to review and to let me know how I'm doing with the style, if I'm keeping the tenses accurate enough (that's what I'm most concerned about at the moment.) Thanks.
