When School Started....
Chapter two: When School Started…
Daniel was sick of school after the first month. Melissa was in every one of his classes, which was the only good thing. Alexis continued with her pregnancy without going to a doctor or anything. Her parents didn’t even know she was pregnant. And thankfully, Melissa still didn’t expect a thing. Daniel figured that he had to tell her. Now. Right now.
“Melissa! I have to tell you something…do you have a minuet?” Daniel said stopping at Melissa’s locker. “Yeah…what do you want?” Melissa said grabbing the last of her books and putting them in her bag. It was the end of the day and Daniel and Melissa had soccer practice soon.
“Haven’t you noticed that Alexis is sort of gaining weight?” Melissa said in a whisper. “Yeah…that’s sort of what I needed to talk to you about.” Daniel said.
“What Alexis gaining weight?” Melissa said laughing and taking out her soccer cleats.
“No…about why she’s gaining weight.” Daniel said pulling on his jersey.
“Okay…why?” Melissa said wondering why Daniel knew why she was gaining weight.
“She’s pregnant.” Daniel said looking Melissa dead in the eye feeling a cold sweat coming on.
“OOOOH!” Melissa said laughing. “She is such a retard sometimes. Whose baby is it? Toms?” she asked.
“No…mine” Daniel said.
“WHAT!” Melissa screamed.
“No! Melissa it’s not like that!”
“Then what is it!” Melissa said. She didn’t know whether she was more angry or hurt.
“I…I said no…” Daniel said tears rolling down his cheeks.
“Oh my God, Daniel…that’s…that’s rape…” Melissa said staring into Daniel’s clear blue eyes rimming with tears. She was incredulous of this.
“If it makes you feel any better…I didn’t feel anything…other than pain…” Daniel said.
“No…oh baby….” Melissa said walking forward to him and hugging him close.
It was nice to hug Melissa openly; he couldn’t hug or kiss her around Alexis because for some reason Alexis thought they were dating.
“COME ON KIDS! WE HAVEN’T GOT ALL DAY!” the coach yelled out in the locker room. Chatter roused in the hall as the soccer team poured out.
“Come on we’d better go…coach wants us.” Melissa said breaking away from the hug.
They walked out of the freshmen hall and into the gym. “Alright kids…just play. Team A versus Team B. First one to score twenty points wins. Go!” Coach Bill said.
The kids knew who was on team A and B so they broke into them and started to play.
Nick passed it to Daniel who was open to a shot and…. Missed. Melissa got it and scored. She passed him and said “Its okay…just don’t think about it. Its over. It’s not going to happen again, okay? Just try to focus.”
“I’m trying.” Daniel said stealing the ball from Katie and scoring barely. As Daniel played he was off. The coach called him over.
“Abbott! Come here!” Coach Bill said.
“Yeah coach?” Daniel said running over face to face with the coach.
“Please tell me you’re just having an off week because this is the worst I’ve ever seen you play.” Coach Bill said.
“No, sir I’ve just had a rough summer and even rougher school year.”
“A girl?”
“Sort of.” Daniel said perplexed that he knew.
“Who, bud?”
For some reason, Daniel found it easier to talk to his coach than anyone.
“Sir, I messed up. Bad.”

“Someone’s pregnant. And she wants to keep it. I don’t want it. Well, I do just like not now.”
“Aha, but its her choice…you know that right, son?”
“Yeah, sir, its just she’s the wrong girl…she’s not my girlfriend.” Daniel said looking over at Melissa play.
“You’re dating Matthews?” the coach said noticing him look.
“Yeah. Melissa. But it’s her friend who’s pregnant.”
“Ooh ouch. She kill you?”
“Who Melissa? No.”
“Take the day off. It’s a Friday. Work this out.”
“Coach, sir, no I can play really I’m fine.”
“I’ll see you on Tuesday for practice.” the coach dismissed him.
Daniel left feeling odd. What am I going to do about this baby? He thought I have to do something. It’s been five months she only has four to go.
“Daniel, what are you doing home so early?” His mom asked when he opened the door.
“Coach told me to take the day off. Mom I need to talk to you.” Daniel said his head down and his eyes refusing to meet his mom’s.
Amber, who was shocked that her only teenage son wanted to talk to her said, “Okay…sit down.”
“Mom…” Daniel said tears once again rimming his eyes as the night played back inside his head. “I…I was raped.” he finally said in a quiet voice.
“What? Hon I can’t hear you.” His mom said trying to get closer to him.
“I said I was raped.” Daniel said facing his mom with tears running down his cheeks. “And it’s all my fault. Now shes pregnant.” he continued

“I didn’t know what you guys would do. I thought you would be mad at me because I didn’t stop her.” Daniel said.

Daniel felt like going on the computer and was sad to see that Alexis and Melissa were on.

“Mom, um…Alexis’s parents kicked her out can she stay with us?” Daniel said coming down the stairs. The doorbell rang and she said “I guess we have no choice.”
Daniel went to the door to find Alexis, five months pregnant.

“I had no other place to go because for some reason Melissa is really mad at me so…I came here.” Alexis said.

“What was that for?” Alexis said.
“I broke up with Melissa.”

“I’m touched.” Alexis said. “Maybe we should ask your parents is we can find a doctor.”
