Companions of the Night

Companions of the Night

Blood poured from her lips
As a right of passage
Between girl and beast
The night then called
To her ears, she heard the cry
Old moon looked down
A smile upon the face
She would run free tonight
The glimmer of snow leaving
Behind to only tracks
Traces would never be found
The old girl was dead
Buried, gone forever and always
Birds would always sing to her
Calling a warning at all who
Had the ears to listen
Never would she be corrupt
Lies surrounding alarms like fire

Poets would write of her
Tales full of glory and gore
Never again would she love
The sun being her foe
Companion of the night
Your voice shall ring true
Coursing through my veins
Calling for a heart
My love and I shall join
For we too wish to be
And so blood will run
From our lips to yours
And all others like us
Life will be ours to live
The wind at our back
And shadows beneath our feet
