Chapter 2
Sisterly Interrogations

""Jillien!" cried a young woman rushing into the kitchen. Jillian looked up from the cake she was currently decorating.

"What is it Layla?"

The young woman walked up to her sister giving her a look of suspicion and accusation.

"So Jilli," Layla said slowly, "Who's the guy?"

Jillien raised her eyebrow at her older sister before turning back to the task at hand. “What guy would you be talking about?"

Layla ran up to her. “You know the guy at the cafe. The one who sat with you?"

She looked up with a confused expression, “How did you know about that?"

The older woman smiled. "So there was a guy, and here I thought Sue was lying."

"Sue? How did Sue find out?"

"She said she was having a nice quiet walk down the business district by a cute little cafe, when she saw you sitting all by your lonesome. She was about to go over and see if you would like some company, when she saw a very handsome man sit across from you. So naturally she came to ask me who he was."

"So why exactly is she so interested in my affairs?"

"Honey, when an employee sees their boss with a mysterious handsome man, of course they would want to know more about him, it gives them something to talk about at work. And who would pass up a juicy topic like the boss's love life."

"I guess. Ah the pains of owning your own tea shop."

Layla rolled her eyes and turned back to the stove, where she began to cook the order that had been placed in the clear plastic box.

"You didn’t answer my question, Jilli, Who’s the guy?”

“He was nobody, just some guy looking for a place to sit.”

Of course this didn’t satisfy her curiosity, so she continued to push Jilli for more information.

“Well did you at least find out his name?”

“Yeah.” Jillien answered wishing that she would just drop the subject.

“And his name would be?”

“Caleb Hara. There! You know his name. Are you happy now?”

Layla raised her eyebrow. “Not quite.” She finished up the dish and handed it to the waitress. “I want to know details. ALL of them.”

Jilli figured that resistance was futile. So she gave in.

“His name is Caleb Hara, gorgeous doesn’t even begin to describe him, he is a fan of you’re books, he sucks at flirting.”

“Wait!” Layla interrupted, “He likes my books?”

“AND, he wants to take me out on Friday, he said to dress nice.”

Layla squealed and ran up to her sister, throwing her arms around her. Jillien, not expecting the attack, lost her balance, and successfully reacquainted herself with the floor. Layla, not noticing Jillien’s misfortune, continued to rant, not bothering to stand up.

“So you’re going right?!”

Jillien groaned, pushed her sister off her back, and stood.

“Probably not, I mean the guy was way too persistent for my taste, not to mention we barely even spoke!”

“And whose fault do you think that is, hmm?” Layla said while dusting off her pants, “I mean come on Jilli-bear, it has been nearly nine years since you last went out on a date. And question; when was the last time you had a boyfriend?” Layla gasped mockingly, “ Oh that’s right, you’ve never had one!”

Jillien shot her a nasty look.

“The only reason I’ve never had a boyfriend is because, I have never had the desire to pursue a relationship.”

“But why?!” Layla exclaimed, “That’s the one thing I have never understood about you!”

“Well that’s because I see it as a waste of time and energy on something that will eventually become nothing.”

“That may be, but it’s a nothing that becomes very worth it in the end.” Layla replied suggestively.

Jillien snickered, “ Of course you would know! You’ve never been one to keep your legs closed!”

“Gee thanks Jilli, and for your information my darling little sister, sex is my anti-drug.”

“Darling, every time you meet an attractive guy, you practically fling your legs open and hold a sign above your legs that reads ‘SKREW ME!’ so I would think that it's more of your life purpose than your anti-drug.”

A fake look of hurt adorned her face. “I love you too! So back to the subject at hand, are you going?”

“Why should, I mean why him?”

“Well for one, he’s hot, second, he likes my books, and third, you need to get out.”

Jillien shrugged, “I guess Lay-lay”

Layla danced around in excitement, “I can’t wait ‘til Friday”

Jilli rolled her eyes, “Whatever, just get back to work!”
