2. Embrace Of The Angel Of The Night

Chapter 2
Embrace Of The Angel Of The Night.

God has taken a pity on me by sending one of his angel to take me away from this painful world.

Let me tell you how I first woke up in the embrace of the angel.

I felt warm, comfortable and clean, and I thought I was in heaven, but it was hard to believe, because there'll be no way for someone as tainted as me to be allowed by God to go to heaven. And, if I were in heaven, why was my body pained all over? So, I was afraid to move because of the pain, and I was afraid to open my eyes too, because I thought I would see another deceitful world God has put me in. I was so scared, and my body started to tremble against my humble intention of staying dead.

That was not until a cold hand suddenly rested on my head, and a soothing warm voice vibrating softly on my ear:"This is not heaven, but this is not hell either. So just open your eyes and see how deceitful it can be, because there is no God to decide it for you, and because this is the world of your choice now."

The words seemed unapprehendable to me because I was dumb. You see, poetry was never my area of expert. But, the way the voice rang, it was like the lullaby of an angel. It sent a warm and safe feeling to me and washed away all my fear and uncertainty in one cadence. So, I opened my eyes, and greeted by a pair of transparent blue aquamarine orbs which pierced deeply into my mind from that exact moment.

You see, the angel who came to me doesn't have white sparkling wings, although he does have the beauty and grace only entity not from this world had. Like one of Botticelli's angels, he has golden sparkling long hair that flowed beautifully to his slender waist. His blue eyes are framed with such long eyelashes that seemed to touch his cheeks everytime they flutter. His face is all high cheekbones, perfectly shaped nose and thin lips. His skin is so pale, radiatingly white like moonlight, that makes him look more angelic. He wore white embroidered long sleeved shirts and black pants like most noble men in England this 1890 wore.

He laid on his side on the luxurious large bed I was laid at, propping his head on his elbow and looked straight at my face with such concerned and exploring look. This made me suddenly all aware of my ugly state and wished for the bed to swallow me in. I started to pull the velvet blanket up to cover my face.
He smiled this angelic smile and said softly: "No, no, don't hide from me. In fact, I just spent 2 entire nights straight only to watch you sleep, while having this strange urge to wake you up only to see what colour your eyes are. Apparently, they are shimmering green like the finest emerald I've ever seen, though."

I was always disgusted to look on my own reflections at any mirror, so I wouldn't know how I would look. All I knew was that I was tainted all over, and this made me wanted to stay away from this angel, so he won't get dirtied by me. So I tried to talk with my raspy voice, "Angel...you'll be tainted touching me..."
He continued to stroke my hair, and whispered: "The ones who're tainted are the ones who dirtied you. And, I'm not an angel, so even though you're tainted, I will still be able to hold you."

So, if he wasn't an angel, what else would he be? A magician? An elf? A nymph?

"I'm a creature of the night. Time has lost its power over me. Sickness and plague are harmless to me, but the slight touch of the sun can burn me. The pleasure of flesh are meaningless to me, when blood is my elixir. People called beings like me vampires, bloodsuckers, lamia, even children of Kain, because we feed on humans who were once our brothers, as we were originally born as humans. Now, the night almost withdrawn, so I must return to my chamber. Rest well, eat well and heal well, I expected you to stand properly as my child soon. Good morning, my child of hope". And with a slight kiss to my forehead, he was gone in a flash.

Being a companion of an angel of the night, I don't mind it at all.
