Chapter 2

Sorry, another short chapter... My brain hurts... I might be a little slow to update this. I’m working on three other stories also. I’ll try and write more of this tomorrow.

One of these days I’ll get around to posting my other stories. Most of them are written in a notebook.

I have no idea what a actual intern does. I watch doctor shows sometimes, but they make me confused. I also don't know why I stopped writing in first person. I don't really like writing in first person anyway.

Anyway, thanks for the reviews. They made me happy and motivated me to write even though I’m exhausted from work.

Hannah, The friends will make a appearance a bit later in the story. I’ll do descriptions then. I didn’t really want to get into describing them when I wrote the first part. I was upset with a few of my friends and I didn’t want to make them into characters in case they read this.

Ayato, Sorry about that. I’ll go back and fix the first chapter so you know where the note ends. I’ll go and fix the typo too. Thanks for pointing it out. And I think I’ve said it in your reviews before, but I love Dark Eden.

Matt looked down at the boy lying on the bed. He came in to the hospital a few hours ago. Attempted suicide. One of the boys friends stopped by to see why he didn’t show up at the local dance club and found him lying in a pool of blood. No note or anything.

What a weak thing to do. Matt never understood suicide. Nothing in life is worth killing yourself over. Nothing.

Matt had to sit and watch the boy. Make sure he didn’t wake up and try to kill himself again. Sometimes being a intern was boring. He wanted to be out there dealing with people that needed his help. He wanted to save people.

All Matt could do now was sit in the room and watch the blood slowly drip from the I.V. How exciting. At least if the kid woke up he’d have someone to talk to.

Matt looked up when he heard the door to the room creak open. Doctor Green walked through the door and up to Matt.

“I called Yuki’s parents. Nice people really...” Doctor Green said with a hint of sarcasm in his voice. “They were disappointed when they found out he wasn’t dead. Said we should call them back when he really kills himself.” The doctor shook his head.

“That’s mean.” Matt mumbled looking at Yuki laying passed out on the bed. “What’s going to happen after he wakes up?”

“He’ll have to undergo a evaluation. See if he just needs some medication or if he should be institutionalized." Doctor Green's pager went off. He took it off his belt and looked at it. "I've got to get going. Just stay here for a bit." He put his pager back on his belt and ran out of the room.

Matt sighed and went back to watching the boy sleep. It was a shame the kid tried to kill himself. He wasn’t that bad looking. A bit too feminine for Matt’s taste. The kid has no muscles. Defiantly not bad on the eyes though. Matt brushed Yuki’s chin length black hair off of his pale face. He couldn’t help but look at Yuki’s full, pouting lips. Matt could kiss those lips.

If only Matt met Yuki in a club or anywhere other than the hospital. He would of had the boy in his bed withering and moaning underneath him. But this kid was a patient and a nut case on top of it. Matt didn’t need all that emotional bull. He could deal with clingy people, but he didn’t know if he could handle suicidal people.

Matt ran his hand through Yuki’s silky hair. The boy pulled away from the touch and slowly opened his eyes. Matt quickly leaned back in his chair and started looking around the room. He did is best to look innocent. Yuki’s emotionless green eyes stared at him.

Yuki woke up when he felt some one touch him. He didn’t like to be touched. His eyes focused on a person sitting in a chair. His long brown hair was pulled back in a pony tail. Twinkling blue eyes were looking around the room.

Yuki couldn't figure out where he was. He knew he wasn't dead. He could feel searing pain in his wrists. He looked out the door on the other site of the too white room. He could see doctors and nurses hurrying past.

Great a hospital. That means people would be touching him. He looked over to his left. Hanging from a metal pole was a bag of blood. It was slowly making its way down the tube and into his veins. Did one of his friends actually come to look for him? Were they still here waiting to see how he was doing?

"Good, you are awake." Matt said smiling at Yuki. "Are you in any pain?"

Yuki tried to sit up. The whole room started to spin. He didn't want to be here. Who cares if he was in pain. No one ever cares. "Who are you...? Where am I...?"

"I'm Matt. An intern. You are in the hospital. You tried to kill yourself, remember? One of your friends found you. Pretty girl with blond hair. Is she single?"

Yuki glared at Matt. This man was way to cheerful. He must be destroyed. "Is Amanda still here?" Yuki was hoping all his friends would be out in the waiting room.

"Uh... No. I think she left right after you were brought in.. I don‘t think anyone is here now."

Yuki sighed and turned his head away from Matt. Some friends they were. They didn't even stick around to see if her would make it. "Can I just go home?"

"Well..." Matt didn't know how to go about telling Yuki he would have to undergo a evaluation. He figured he'd just come right out and say it. "The doctor says you'll have to have a evaluation. They may want to keep you for awhile to make sure you don't hurt yourself again."

"I'm not crazy if that's what you think." Yuki looked into Matt's blue eyes. "Just lonely." He didn't want to go to the funny farm. He didn't want to have to share his innermost feelings with some doctor.

"You did try to kill yourself. Sane people don't do that."

"I'm not crazy!" Yuki glared at Matt. "I did it because they don't care about me! They don't pay attention!" He felt tears sting his eyes. He didn't want to cry in front of that jerk.

Matt felt bad for saying that to Yuki. He never thinks before he speaks. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to say that. You aren't crazy. I understand where you are coming from. I feel the same way sometimes. I don't know many people here. I just moved here a few months ago." Matt could tell Yuki wasn't interested in what he was saying. "Maybe you and I can hang out some time."

"Yeah. I guess..." Yuki wasn't sure about hanging out with Matt. He didn't want anymore friends. He didn't want to be hurt again.

"I promise I won't be like your other friends. I don't really know what's going on there, but I'll pay attention to you. Even if you need me in the middle of the night. I'll come. It's pretty hard to get rid of me." Matt reached out and wiped a tear off of Yuki's cheek. Yuki didn't even know he was still crying. "No more crying. I'll talk to your doctor and see if I can get you out of here without that evaluation. The sooner you get out of here the sooner we can hang out!" Matt smiled and ran out of the room.

Yuki calmed himself down. He didn't really want to hang out with Matt. But on the other hand if he brought him along when he went out with his friends he would have someone to talk to. He wouldn't be alone. He decided to give Matt a chance. Not everyone in this world could be bad, right?

Matt came back to Yuki's room a half an hour later carrying a tray of food. He was kind of glad Matt came back. Maybe then the nurses would leave him alone for a bit. Ever since Matt left the room there were nurses taking his blood pressure, checking his wrist, and trying to talk to him. The last nurse that came in was his favorite. She took the I.V. out of his arm.

“I figured you might be hungry so I brought back some food for us.” Yuki’s stomach growled at the site of food. Even if it was gross hospital food. Matt rolled a table over to Yuki’s bed and sat the try down. “Can you sit up?”

Yuki slowly sat up. This time the room didn’t spin. “Thanks for the food.” Yuki unwrapped what looked like a bologna and cheese sandwich while Matt opened a small bag of chips.

The two sat on the bed and ate together. Yuki didn’t really talk. Matt did all the talking. He told Yuki he was 23 and bi, but he preferred men over women. Then he went on to talk about how he liked video games and going out to clubs and dancing.

Matt asked Yuki what he liked to do, but before Yuki could answer Doctor Green walked in the room. “I have some good news, Yuki. You will be released tomorrow morning. We want to keep you here a bit longer." He turned to the brown haired man, “I’m sure you can find something else to do now. Let him rest.” Matt nodded as Doctor Green walked out of the room.

Matt grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. “Here’s my number. Call me when you feel like hanging out. Or even if you just need someone to talk to.” Matt handed the paper to Yuki and walked out of the room.

Yuki lay back down and bed and closed his eyes. He didn’t realize how tired he was. He quickly feel into a deep sleep.
