ch.2

Cinder had been living in Bantora for two weeks now. Everything had been peaceful. He enjoyed the beauty and had forgotten about Moetan. Neveah and him had started take night strolls to see the beauty of the world in the moonlight. He always looked forward to there nightly strolls. It meant spending time with Neveah. Out of all the beauty in the world he thought Neveah was the most beautiful. He knew he loved her but wasn’t sure about her feelings for him. They had been spending more time together and she seemed to be enjoying his company so he decided he wouldn’t push for anymore. He would take what was offered to him. However he hoped one day he could tell her he loved her and get the same response back.

One evening Cinder was flying across the land to make sure everything was in order and enjoying the beauty when he saw ball of fire fly past his wing. He looked up to see what was causing such destruction on Bantora when he saw Theo from Moetan coming after him. Theo was Kindles father. When Theo learned of Kindles death he got very angry at Cinder and had wanted him dead. He wanted revenge on the person who caused his sons death. Kindle had been his only son and now that he lost him he had no one. For Kindles mother died giving birth to him.

Cinder knew he had to find away to get to Neveah and have her warn the others. He knew that there would be more of them. For Theo had been probably setting up a army and training for the past two weeks. He had to get to Neveah but he knew he had to take care of Theo first.

“Cinder come back to Moetan and battle me and I will leave the world of Bantora alone. I will give you two days. If you do not come back by the third than I will attack the world of Bantora and kill everyone and everything on it.” and with that Theo flew off.

Cinder didn’t go to Neveah’s right after his encounter with Theo. He flew to his favorite hideaway under a giant tree with beautiful smelling flowers. He knew that if he went back to Moetan the fight between him and Theo would be unfair and they most likely wouldn’t survive. So did he go to Moetan and risk losing his life or did he stay here and let Theo bring an army here to Bantora and destroy the world totally? He knew what he had to do. He had to go to Moetan. He loved Neveah too much to put her and her world in danger. He risk losing her or seeing her get hurt. With his mind made up he flew back to Neveah’s and told her what he was going to do.

Upon hearing Cinders news Neveah was not happy at all. She didn’t want to lose Cinder. She knew something like this was going to happen and had been preparing for it for the past two weeks.

“Cinder you can not go back to Moetan by yourself. I will not let you get killed. Let them come here. I have been getting prepared for this. One can not rule a world and never be prepared for someone trying to destroy it. We can help you fight this battle. You can not go back to Moetan where you will be murdered right away.”

“But Neveah…..”

“No buts Cinder. Let them come here where it will be a more fair battle. This will give us a couple more days to get prepared. We will be ready for when they come.”

“Are you sure you want to do this Neveah? I have caused enough problems on your world. I can leave now and you won’t have to worry about your world having more problems.”

“Cinder, do you really think that if you go to back and they kill you they won’t come after Bantora? They will kill you and then come here destroy Bantora. We are the one’s that killed Theo’s son. They want revenge. They just want to get you out of the way first. Cinder with your and mines power and magic combined we are stronger than whole world of Moetan together. They know that. They know with our power combined they have no chance against. Then add fifty more angels and some of the other powerful creatures living here and they are good as gone. You are powerful Cinder. You have great magic within you that you don’t even know exists. I saw the first time I saw you.” with that Neveah walked up to him and lightly kissed his cheek. “I will not let you leave Cinder. Believe it or not we need you in this world.” I need you. She thought to herself.

Cinder was surprised by all she said. He knew he was strong but he didn’t think he was that strong. He never knew he had any other power than turning into a dragon and fierce one at that. Maybe she was right. He still felt like he should go to Moetan by himself but when he saw the look of pain that flickered through hers very quickly he knew he couldn’t. They would win this battle. They would win it together.

Cinder wrapped Neveah in his arms and just held her. He wanted to say he loved her but couldn’t. So instead he just held her. She felt so soft and delicate in his arms. Almost a if she was made of glass and she would shatter if he held to tight but he knew how strong she was. He knew that she was even stronger than him. Which at times made him a little uneasy yet admire her at the same time. When he ended the embrace he gave her a light kiss on the lips and she then said she had some things to do.

Neveah was not happy at the way her body reacting when ever he touched her. She loved the feel of his strong arms around her and loved the feel of his lips against hers but she didn’t like how her body would feel weak. She was stronger. Stronger then Cinder yet all he had to do was touch her and she would feel as the she had no power and wanted him to never stop touching her. She had to gain control of herself. She had to be strong for the upcoming battle. Even if that meant not letting him touch her for the next few days.

The next morning Neveah and Cinder held and emergency meeting and had everyone in Bantora come. They had to get ready for the battle for it would be the day after tomorrow. It was agreed upon that the children and elders be put into hiding with a powerful shield around them. Then they decided that anything of greatest value to Bantora be either hidden or protected by magic. They would not train to battle for they all already knew what to do. They were told to eat and get rest for they needed to have all the energy they could afford. Though Neveah and Cinder knew that the two of them combined would be able to fight off everyone in Moetan by themselves they new that they would be busy with the leaders. They would let the others battle each other. They knew that no one Moetan was strong enough to beat anyone in Bantora so the only worried a little.

They made sure that all the children and elders had everything they needed for the next couple of days. For they really weren’t sure how long it was going to last and the wanted their weakest members protected. For the children were their future and the elders though very wise did not have the energy they once had. So the elders and a few others who would not be involved in the battles stayed under protection and took care of the children.

Later that night Neveah and Cinder were sitting at the table eating a meal and talking. They were quite pleased with what they had accomplished. They had some of their best keeping watch. They had the most valuables protected and hidden.

“Are you sure we can do this Neveah?”
“Yes Cinder we can. We are strong enough and powerful enough to win this battle.”
“Good. I would feel really bad if your world was destroyed because of me.”

Cinder quickly got up and left the house. He was angry at the thought that it was because of him all of this was happening. He could feel his temper rising and decided to get out of the house before he hurt Neveah. He turned into a dragon and flew off to where he could be alone. He needed his temper to subside. He didn’t want to his anger out on Neveah. After all he was mad at himself and Moetan not her. He didn’t want her to be hurt in any way. An hour later his temper had subsided and he went back to the house. Neveah had been curled up un the couch and it looked like she was crying. He didn’t know why she would be crying. Did something happen after he left?

He sat down next to her and took her in his arms and just held her. He let her cry everything out. He just held her. Not asking any questions. He didn’t want to push her. When she was done crying he gently caressed her cheeks wiping the remaining tears away.

“Feel better?” he asked gently.
“Yes and I’m sorry.”
“Shhh no need to be sorry beautiful. Everyone needs to cry sometimes.”
“Sometimes I cry too much but no one knows. No one has ever seen me cry until now. I am in charge of this world. What would the do if they knew I cry almost every night.”
“What causes you to cry Neveah?”
“Stress. Also being alone. I rule this whole world yet I am alone.”

Cinder bent his head down and kissed her. “Your not alone anymore Neveah.” he said softly. He started to kiss her deeper. She was hesitant at first but then went into the kiss. He wanted tot ell her he loved her. Tell her that as long as he was around she would never be alone but was too scared to. He was scared he would make a fool of himself. When he broke the kiss he picked her up and carried her to her bed and laid her down very gently. He then sat down on the bed next to her. Lightly caressing her hair.
“Get some sleep beautiful. You need all the energy you can get. But remember if you feel lonely you can always come to my room. You know where it is and I will be more than willing to keep you company. Your not alone Neveah. You will never be alone again.” he kissed her one last time and then got up pulled the cover over her and turned out the light.
“Sweet dreams my beautiful angel.” He said and then left the room.

Neveah fell asleep almost instantly. “Sweet dreams my beautiful angel.” Those words kept playing in her mind. She loved him so much but knew she couldn’t say anything. What did he mean by you’ll never be alone again? She wasn’t totally sure but had a peaceful sleep and dreamed of them together. She dreamed of being able to tell him how much she loved him and of them having a family. She dreamt of never being alone again.

If you were to visit Bantora the next day, you would have never thought that they were getting ready for a big battle. Everything see calm and peaceful as usual. However the people on Bantora knew. Though things seemed peaceful they were all ready to jump in to battle when the alarm sounded.

Cinder had thought about Neveah all night long. He almost thought about going to Moetan and taking on Theo but knew she was right. If he went there they would come to Bantora either way. They had a greater chance of winning if he stayed put. Yet he was worried. He didn’t want Neveah to get hurt. He couldn’t lose her. He figured once the battle was over he would let her know his true feelings for her. That was if they both came out alive. He figured they would though. If she was really right about the power he had then everything would be alright. He hoped.

It was two am the next morning when the alarm sounded. Neveah and Cinder went out together to get ahead of everyone. Though Neveah could fly on her own she got on Cinders back as he flew towards the army heading for Bantora. Cinder stopped up front of Theo who was leading the group. Neveah was now floating next to Cinder.

“I told you Cinder that if you came back we would not bother Bantora but you didn’t listen so now everyone will have to pay.”

“Do you find me that much of fool Theo. You wanted me alone so I would be weaker and then after you killed me you would come here and try to destroy Bantora anyways.”

“Ah, your brighter than I thought Cinder.”

With that Theo told his army to attack and he quickly went after Neveah. Theo knew if he got Neveah and killed her first than Cinder would be weaker. However his attempt failed. Cinder and Neveah and planned this. Cinder swooped down and quickly got in front of Neveah stopping Theo from grabbing her. Cinder spit a ball of fire at Theo. It hit Theo’s foot but didn’t do much damage. Neveah was now on Cinders back. Theo was riding a winged creature that Cinder nor Neveah had ever seen before. Neveah Sent a blast of magic at the creature that Theo was riding. It stunned the creature and Theo started to drop. Cinder than swooped and knocked Theo to the ground with his massive wing. Neveah stand on the ground upfront of Cinder. She was about to blast a ball of magic at Theo but he instead though a massive fire ball at her first. She wasn’t able to block fast enough. Her robe was on fire and stating to burn her skin. She screamed getting Cinders attention. Cinder smothered the flame with his wing.

Cinder had became a very angry dragon at that moment. He picked up Theo with his feet let his claws dig into him and then dropped him. He knew fire wouldn’t affect Theo. He swooped down and turned into an human. He knew if he was going to beat Theo he and Neveah had to do it together and he had to be human. His anger boiled more as he looked at his beautiful angel who had burns on her body. Who’s gowns and hair was charred. He grabbed her hand gently and held it. He could feel her getting weaker. He knew he had to do it now. He had to kill Theo now before Neveah became to weak. Her burns were healing quickly but was taking all of her energy because they were so bad.

He looked at Theo with his ice blue eyes. Full of anger. The anger kept getting fiercer and fiercer until it was bubble of power that had to be released. He felt for moment a strange power run this body. Part of it his own and another part coming from Neveah.

It hit Theo with so much force he went flying back ten feet. Killing him instantly. Cinder wrapped Neveah’s arms around his neck and had her behind him so when he turned back into a dragon she would be on his back. He flew around to see how the rest of the battle was going. It seemed to be a short battle. The people from Moetan were starting to retreat. Neveah was right. They won the battle.

Cinder flew Neveah back to her house and carried her to her bed and laid her down. She was so weak. The battle took every ounce of energy out of her. Cinder heard one of her friends say that she was weak against fire. That was her one weakness. It also explained why she kept the shield up with him in their encounter. He hated seeing her so weak. He didn’t know what to do. He knew she wouldn’t die because of her power to heal herself but it may be days before she gained her power back. He knelt down beside her and started to talk to her.

“Neveah you aren’t alone right now. I promise I won’t leave you alone. You will never be alone again. You did amazing out there today. We won beautiful, just like said. You also were right about me. About what you said with my hidden power. It’s the power that comes to me when I am angry and when I need to protect my beautiful angel. I love you Neveah. I won’t ever let anyone hurt you ever again. “

He climbed into bed with her and just held her. Whispering over and over again he loved her and no one would never hurt her ever again. He fell asleep holding her in his arms. He hadn’t realized just how much energy it had taken from him either.

Neveah woke up two days later in Cinders arms. She smiled and snuggled into him. He didn’t know that she heard everything he said. She now felt like it was safe to tell him she loved him. She felt him begin to stir and moved slightly so she was more comfortable. He opened his eyes to dee she was awake.

“I feel like I was asleep for a million years.” said Cinder sleepily and trying to move his stiff muscles.
“You were only asleep for two. You had to gain your energy back.”

He lightly caressed her cheek. “How are you feeling my beautiful angel?’
She blushed slightly. “Better. Ummm Cinder that night I heard what you said. When you told me you loved me. Did you mean it?”

“Yes Neveah I love you very much.”
“I love you too Cinder. I don’t want you too ever leave me.”

Cinder bent his head down and began to kiss her. This time she didn’t hesitate. He was happy that she shared his feelings. He broke the kiss for a second and whispered “I’ll never leave you Neveah. Not ever.”

“I love you Cinder.”
“I love you too my beautiful angel.”
