The Truth
I wasn\'t sure what to expect the next day at school. Would Aiden act like nothing happened? Would he avoid me? Or maybe he would kiss me again. The more I thought about it, the more my heart yearned for him. I don\'t know why, I barely knew this guy! What was I supposed to think?
All the anticipation led up to nothing. Aiden wasn\'t even at school. Did I break his heart because I didn\'t kiss back? He kinda surprised me and ran off, I don\'t know what he was expecting. I began walking home from school alone, not feeling like waiting for Addy or Natalie. I just wanted time for myself. It was a cloudy day, and there wasn\'t much sunlight reaching the earth. Eventually, it started to rain. I cursed at the weather and pulled up my hood.
I could see a man standing farther up the road. At first glance my heart skipped a beat, for I thought it was Aiden. But it couldn\'t be. His house was in the opposite direction of where I was walking, and why would he go out of his way to wait in the rain for me?. Me, dorky Devi Hollace who\'s purpose on this earth was to babysit her brothers and make sure her friends\' self esteem was high enough.
I sctatched the side of my neck and looked back at that man, but he was gone. I shrugged and continued walking. It didn\'t matter to me where he went. I don\'t even know why I was still thinking about it. I reached up to brush a stray lock of hair from my face, when I saw it had blood all over it. I frowned and looked closer; it wasn\'t my hand that was bleeding, it was something I touched. My hand instantly slapped over the skin on my neck where I had scratched it earlier. I could feel the blood oozing out of my neck. I must\'ve scratched off a scab.
I turned onto the last backroad before the street my house was on. I\'d always walk through the alley behind the pharmacy instead of walking on the main road where I was just asking to get kidnapped. The alley provided a little shelter from the rain, so pulled my hood off my head and shook my short auburn hair loose. I began hearing footsteps behind me, still a reasonable distance away. I instantly started walking at a brisk pace, hoping I would get home before they had a chance to catch up with me. The footsteps started coming faster, so I quickened my steps. They kept getting faster and faster, until I was running frantically. I turned the corner out of the alley and ran into a solid figure. The pharmacy had closed off the end of the alley. I spun around to meet my stalker and found myself staring into two dark brown eyes.
\"Aiden,\" I breathed out with relief.
Aiden stayed silent, but moved closer to me. His eyes were glued on my lips, and his arms were placed on either side of my body, blocking off my escape. He was breathing heavily, and droplets of rain dampened his hair and rolled down his face.
\"Aiden?\" I said questioningly.
Once again, he didn\'t reply. He moved in and kissed me hungrily. I allowed myself to kiss back this time. He parted my lips and slipped his tongue in my mouth, and began pushing himself closer to me until we were squished so tightly together my breasts were pushed up against my chest. I gasped for air, and Aiden mover his lips down onto my neck, on the side I was bleeding. Suddenly memories came rushing back to me. I remembered last night. Aiden kissing me, kissing my neck, revealing fangs, and sinking them into the flesh of my neck.
\"I can\'t... help it.\" Aiden whispered between kisses. \"I have a curse, Dev. One I can\'t control. I need it. I need blood. I need yours....\" With those last words, there was a slick noise as fangs slid down from Aiden\'s gums. He licked off the blood off my neck from my scab, then prepared to make a new puncture.
\"Why didn\'t you tell me?\" I asked.
\"You would\'ve been afraid. You would\'ve ran.\"
\"I\'m afraid now. I wouldn\'t have left you. I won\'t leave you now.\"
\"Will you keep my secret then?\"
I nodded meekly, then felt his fangs sink into my flesh. I moan quietly, feeling more pleasure than pain in this vampiric act. I felt him lapping up th blood from the wound. Then his lips traveled back up to my mouth.
