Part 2
When Midhrien opened his eyes, the first thing he saw was the endless, piercing darkness. Midhrien sighed in fear, he didn’t understand what did this kind of darkness mean, and he felt the panic take over his fragile body. He wanted to scream, because besides that he couldn’t see anything, the air around him felt heavy and he thought he was choking. His breathing got heavier until it turned to gasps, and Midhrien groped around in the dark in desperation, searching for something which he could use as a protection if he needed that. But he reached nothing but a cold rock where he lay and started to tremble uncontrollably and little, scared whimper escaped from his lips. His eyes started to fill with tears.
Two bloodred, glowing eyes appeared into the darkness, and it took a while before Midhrien noticed them, but when he did that, there were no limits for his horror. His mouth turned into an ’o’ and horrified, almost painfull scream escaped from his lips. He had never ever seen anything like that before, not anything as horrible as those bloodred eyes! They had to belong to the Devil himself, they had to! The Devil had bewitched this darkness around him and now he was going to die the most painfull death, and because he had been banished from Heaven, he would go to hell and burn in the eternal flames!
”No! No!! I beg of you, please don’t kill me!” Midhrien cried protecting his head with his arms, fearing so much that his heart was going to burst. ”Don’t do this to me!!!” His screams drowned into a hysterical cry, and he waited for the death his eyes shut, sobbing weakly, not wanting to saw those terrible, cruel, burning eyes. And in his messed up mind he also thought that maybe it was really so much easier to just die away now than have to suffer in this world as a wingless, crippled creature.
The creature with red, burning eyes looked at the crying little creature and waited for him to calm down a little, and he smiled broadly, moving slowly towards the poor miserable, sobbing thing. It was clear that he had never before experienced the darkness and had never been threataned in any way, for he wasn’t really trying to defend himself like anyone else would have done. This frail, heavenly creature only yielded to whatever was going to happen to him, and cried in fear, curling up like an animal who was being beaten. But still… The innocense and pureness of the creature were something beyond description, something that was hopelessly attracting him. Slowly he slid right next to the beautifull creature, kneeling beside him, grabbing his shoulders with his hands. The creature shivered and started to yell again, shaking his head from side to side, eyes tightly closed, tears flowing to his cheeks.
”I-if you really ha-have to do it, please, kill me even without any pain!” he wailed in a heartbreaking, frail voice. ”Be so nice… Please… No… No…”
Tilting his head the red eyed creature watched the other, and then touched the smooth, perfect skin of his cheek with his long fingered, petite hand. His hand got wet with tears. He knew that the beautifull being couldn’t see his face in the dark, only his burning, red eyes, which only added his fear, but he wasn’t ready to reveal himself yet. Besides it wasn’t safe this close to humen: if he would light the place, it could bring the people here – not that they could do anything against his powers – but still.
”Ssssh… There’sss no reasson to be afraid… I am not here to kill you..” he whispered.
”Th-then why..?” Midhrien dared to whimper. He was very nervous because of the cool hand on his teary cheek, for he could feel a long, sharp fingernails, and the voice which has just speaked, didn’t seem very gentle. Besides the s had hissed strangely which reminded Midhrien of a snake even if he hadn’t ever actually seen one. Was that creature with his red eyes even a human like? What if he was some… more like an animal with sharp teeth and all, some kind of monster..? Midhrien was so afraid. He felt how the tears started to flow again even more freely than they had before, and he sniffled quietly.
The creature moved his hand from his face and then speaked again, whispering, and his voice was hoarse and low, and the speaking hissed again unpleasantly.
”I know, what you are. I sssaw what they have done to you and brought you here, ssafe from the people. You have no idea what they do when they face something they don’t undersstand… It isss dark in here so that they can’t find uss.”
”What are you..?” Midhrien stammered out, gasping for breath shivering, closing again his eyes he had opened for a moment – he just couldn’t watch those bloodred eyes. The other didn’t answer immediately.
”I afraid I can’t tell that to you jussst yet…” he finally stated, and Midhrien could sense how the creature moved slowly away from him. He swallowed. Maybe he really didn’t want to know. But then the creature spoke again. ”It would be good for you to resst for a while now. I can take you away as sssoon ass it’sss ssafe. Just now people have their celebration week and they sstay awake night and day, and thiss cave is too clossse to the nearesst village. But I promissse you that when it is ssafe enough, I will take you to a ssome place much more nicer.” Some place nicer… So the creature said. Midhrien didn’t know what to believe. He still didn’t open his eyes in fear of those other red ones, but he managed to whisper: ”I don’t trust you…” Creature made a sound that was like a laugh, and said then hoarsely: ”If I were you, I wouln’t trusst myssself either… But you jusst have to, don’t you..?”
**
When Midhrien woke up from his strange, scary dream which he somehow had managed to drift, it was still totally dark and the air was hard to breath, but he didn’t panic any more though. Red eyes were staring at him from a distance, and he turned his gaze away shivering. The owner of those eyes could not be good… Where had he gotten into..? He had no idea why had that creature ’saved’ him from people but he had a very bad feeling. The creature had said he wasn’t going to kill him, but Midhrien was sure there were many other horrible things that could be done to him.
”Oh. You are awake again…” said the creature, and a very contented smile rose to his lips. He had been watching the angels sleep and noticed that the dream had been very restless. He was wondering what kind of dream the angel had seen.
The angel was now sitting his head hanging down letting his golden locks to cover his eyes, and when he spoke, he could feel how full of pain the angels voice was.
”Get me away from this darkness… I am hurt and this darkness does not make me feel better… M-my back… It hurts… My wings…” Midhrien could not hold back his tears anymore when the realisation hit him. The only thing he had had from Heaven was now gone. His wings were gone… This monster with glowing eyes had surely destroyed them… Destroyed them so that he could not escape. But even if he had his wings, there wouln’t have been any chance for him to escape. He was completely helpless against the creature.
”Your wingss are ssafe.” Midhrien raised his head that had been hanging down and wiped a tear off of his face. He was staring again into those red eyes and tried to not turn his gaze away again. He was trembling…
”Wha-what did you say..?” he sniffled so tiny voice it could be hardly heard. The intent stare of those red eyes didn’t let go of his own.
”I ssaid your wingss are ssafe. I brought them with me when I brought you. You will get them to your back again, and you will be able to fly again. You have to be perfect.”
”Perfect for what?” Midhrien asked quietly but didn’t get any proper answer, only a mysterious sneer…
