Chapter Two: Shadows Embrace
The suns warmth radiated into the stuffy class room as Jason stared out the window that had been open in hopes of a small breeze; his eyes were gazed over though he tried to contain a large yawn that nipped gently at the corners of his mouth. He truly did try to surpass it but the tedious rattling that floated from the ancient teacher’s mouth wasn’t helping any.
“Man, wonder if we stay here long enough he’ll just keel over of old age?”
Jason just shrugged lazily as he turned to look at Damien who was restlessly seated next to him trying to pay attention but failing miserably so settling for at lest pretending to look interested in the horribly boring lecture.
“Isn’t this Social,” inquired the black haired lad while he let out an exhausted sigh at the remembrance of have to deal with two more classes. Damien let out an unusual grunting noise with the back of his throat; Jason nodded briefly taking it as a positive answer.
“….Jason is that a hicky?”
Jason’s scream rang loudly through out the entire classroom gaining everyone’s attention as he quickly jumped to his feet with in turn made his desk fall forward and all his supplies go scattering across the floor.
“Mr. Carter please refrain your self from interrupting my class!!!”
An embarrassed blush covered the boy’s cheeks as he realized that all eyes were on him, he stood there stupefied before slowly getting down on his hands and knees to start hunting down all his MIA pencil crayons. Damien couldn’t contain his rich laugh and started to snicker which turned into full blown chuckles when he saw Jason’s half assed glower from the floor.
“Well Mr. Fisher if you find this just SO funny then I guess you’ll find this hilarious. You and Mr. Carter have Detention!!!”
Jason guffawed at the astonished expression plastered across Damien’s face as he eased skillfully back down into his chair and started placed his stuff on the now rightly turned over table top. He counted out his crayons.
“See this is why you don’t fuck with Jason Daniel Carter, Bitch!” Whispered the lad to the sulking Damien as the teacher quickly spun around on his heel and continued with his planed lesson.
“At least I’m not the one who got felt up by his best friend.”
Jason arched his back and sunk lower in his uncomfortable orange plastic seat trying to cover his flushed face with his hands when the bell sounded the end of the class.
“Saved by the bell.”
Both boys quickly scrambled to shove everything into their already packed bags as fast they could get the hell out of the damn door when a loud dry cough caught them off guard.
Behind them, tapping his foot impatiently stood Mr. Clarkson with a wrinkled hand on his hip.
“I expect you two boys to go straight to the detention room after school. And trust me I will be check up just to see if you actually went.”
The youngens nodded their heads rapidly as they looked longingly at the opened classroom door just waiting for them.
“Good.”
The old man teeter on past them and into the sea of people who happened to be passing by at that moment. Damien sighed and ran a hand through his wavy bangs before looking up at the clock.
“Its lunch time, we should go find the others.”
“What? Do I smell or something is that why you don’t want to hang out with me?” Joked Jason with a dramatic exasperation of breath leaving his slender body.
“Yeah that’s it.”
Damien smirked at the fake look of hurt on Jason’s face as the other boy started to sniffle pathetically; the taller of the two roughly grabbed the other by the back of his shirt and yanked him out of the depressing room.
“JASON!! DAMIEN!! HELP ME!!!!!”
A piercing shriek broke out from within the walls of the moving mass of students that pushed themselves down the narrow hallways.
“Think we should go help him?”
“Whatever,” replied Jason in a tone of indifference to his friend’s question, and so the two pushed their way through the herd towards that sobbing little bundle clutching a pillar.
“Zack you okay there?” asked Damien worriedly as he tried to pry the boys fingers off. Zack finally let go and latched himself onto the older boys arm, he turned to glare at Jason.
“It’s YOUR fault!!” he snarled, Jason decided to take one large step back seeing as the petite boy looked about ready to jump up and throttle him to death.
“What’s my fault?”
“Your bad day attitude is rubbing off on me. STAY AWAY!!!!”
The slight twitching of the left blue eye was the only indication that Jason had heard him; in truth the boy wanted to smack his head against some random locker then ask himself why he was friends with these people.
“What’s going on? Why is Zack screaming like a little girl?”
Kage slowly sauntered up behind Jason, who blushed when he felt the slightest brush of the other boys hand up against his own; the boy quickly flinched and pulled his hand back to his own being not even giving his black haired friend an indication that something had happened.
“I don’t know something about my ‘bad day attitude’.”
An devious smirk crossed Kage’s usually stoic face as his silken bangs covered his glossy blood colored eyes and nodded his head in understandment. Jason shivered, he truly hated when his friend did that, it made him look like some kind of possessed demon. A sexy demon, but a demon none the less.
The boys cheeks took on a pink hue as he replayed his last thought; yes he’d admitted it he had thought his best friend since grade school was hot and he’d known it for years now but Jason also knew his ‘boat’ didn’t ‘float’ that way.
“He’s just acting like a little self-centered prick because HE got us caught passing notes in class and now we have after school detention.”
Damien and Jason looked at each other before both looking down to the sobbing Zack in Damien’s arms.
“Don’t worry we have detention to thanks to captain obvious,” snapped Jason glowering at Damien who was trying his best to look cute and innocent but failing miserable and only came out look sly, sneaky and all around basturd, well that’s what the others thought.
“…What are you talking about?” asked Kage as he gave Damien a dark threatening look that clearly read ‘you better not have messed with my bitch’, and made him look even more psychotic then usual. The taller boy laughed sheepishly as he used his left hand to scratch at the nape of his thick golden brown neck.
A horrified look crossed Zack’s slightly chubby face as he pushed away from his friend and clasped his pudgy hands in front of his chest glaring all the while before turning to give Jason the same treatment. The pale boy having finally torn his eyes off Kage noticed the look he was getting from the pissed pigmy decided the best thing to do was to get the fuck out of there, and fast.
“I see you guys in the lunch room!!!”
With that last comment Jason quickly sprinted down the hallway and disappeared from sight as he turned a corner leaving behind a pissed off Zack, an annoyed Kage, and a whimpering Damien
“Well what the hell did you say!?” demanded Kage; Zack glowered at Damien who put on a more serious look.
“What the hell did you do!!?” demanded the smaller one in a unsympathetic tone as his usually calm brown eyes turned to a dark onyx color, showing his inner turmoil. Damien face took on a clam expression as he chuckled lightly and reached down a calloused hand to cup the somewhat round cheek of Zack’s face relishing in the baby soft feeling. The more petite boy sighed breathlessly and leaned further into the warm touch enjoying the feeling of the larger, stronger boy’s hand.
“Oh god please, I’m still here remember!!”
Damien smirked at the dark blush that stained the bridge of Zack’s cheeks as his eyes opened wide, now in their soft cheerful coffee shade again. The boy let out a small squeak and ripped himself away for Damien’s grasp and pushed the palms of his hands to his face. Kage rolled his eyes and shook his head though in a somewhat depressed fashion.
“Hey don’t worry you’ll get your man. Trust me; you have us on your side.”
“Maybe that’s why I’m worried,” mumbled the strange boy; Zack smiled brightly and wrapped and arm around his friends shoulder in a comforting manor.
“I’ve got a plan!!”
Jason sighed loudly and slumped further into his seat resting his forehead on the table top ignoring the monstrous rumbling coming from his stomach. His friends had yet to come and share their sympathy of him having to jump out his window to avoid the evil creature known as Linda and forgetting to bring his lunch; but they’d probably laugh and tell him how stupid he is, ah the joys of friendship.
The boy was snapped out of his philosophy of the meaning of being a friend when something soft whacked him in the back of the head. The lad spun around in his seat to glare at who ever had tried to commit this deceitful assassination attempt, only to find a smiling Damien and a giddy Zack sit down across from him. The shady indigo eyes eventually landed on the black lunch bag slung over the blond boy’s shoulder.
“Evil incarnation of Satan….”
“Jason talking to your self is the first sign of insanity,” whispered Kage into the boy’s ear; his lithe body was pushed up against his friend’s whole right side as he sat down next to the boy who started to shiver violently.
“Trust the crazy person to know.”
Kage snorted and rolled his eyes giving him a look that clearly shouted he wasn’t going to act all sympathetic with Jason rumbling stomach which was starting to disturb him, if you listened closely it sounded like it was talking.
“Jason I’ll be the nice one,” announced Zack as he handed him half of his bologna and mustard sandwich. The pale boy cringed but took it carefully and gave thanks to his savior.
The shrill ring resounded through out the whole entire school, and bringing with it the end of lunch. Hundreds of students filed out o the mess hall chatting wildly as they sashayed to their assigned lockers to pick up the supplies for their next classes. The three friends were no exception as the lazily strolled down the jam pack hallway, trying to doge wildly flung limbs.
“Damn I got History with Mr. Itachi.”
Damien nodded with an evil smirk on his lips, something wicked was going on and the naïve Jason was clueless. He chuckled out a parting before snatching Zack away by the sleeve of the identical blazer and pulled him down an empty corridor to their designated classroom.
“Don’t want to be late, now do we.”
The seductive whisper ghosted across Jason’s ear making him painfully aware that Kage was still there and standing way to close to his body which was making him quite uncomfortable.
Jason opened his mouth to say something about it but never got the chance as his body was smatched unceremoniously into the larger and stronger lockers that sat to his left. The air wheezed out from the boy’s chest as he gasped harshly and tried to shake the black splotches out of is vision. That’s when he noticed Kage looming in front of his jerking body with a dark sneer.
“St…stop...you...er...hurting...m...e.”
Kage’s threatening aura fell instantly and he loosened his grip regretfully at knowing he had hurt the other boy.
“I’m sorry…I don’t know what came over me.”
Jason shook his head and rubbed a fist against his chest trying to gain back his rheumatic breathing pattern; two hands pushed him up against the lockers again but they were unusually gentle this time.
“Let me make it better,” purred Kage as he placed his palms flat against the blue metal contraptions, one on either side of his surprised companions head before leaning down closer and mashing their lips together in a blissful kiss.
