Chapter Two
As soon as Beramode had entered the room Ashurei had feinted sleep not wanting to talk about anything. When the muscles in his back had begun to twitch forcing him to move he had prayed he wouldn’t betray his feinted sleep. Apparently he hadn’t and Beramode continued to do what ever he was doing the faint rustle of feathers and the slip of fabric the only sounds giving away what that was. Then he had heard his name whispered in a way he could never have imagined he would hear from his twin.
~But what had he meant? Did he mean what he said? What if it wasn’t meant like that what if it’s just the response from what I said in the bath. Was there even the slightest hint of longing in his voice or am I simply imagining it for my own sake? Damn you to hell Beramode why would you say something like that when I sleep and not to my face? Did he even say it? Maybe I was actually asleep, no I wasn’t… was I?~
Ashurei’s mind continued to race well into the night as he laid motionless opposite his brother in confusion his anxieties eating him alive. The anticipation of battle settling in slowly but it wasn’t making him as hyped as normal rather the reverse. Instead of looking forward to it he was dreading it a subtle feeling of fear sinking into him. He tried to shake it find the source of it all of the above but none of it worked until he slipped into a troubled sleep.

The next morning Beramode stood already on the landing waiting for the sun to peak above the horizon. As soon as it did he would descend to Earth which wasn’t entirely the most pleasurable experience. Involving quite a few miles of free fall through nothingness where the only thing you know is that you are falling before bursting out into blinding light with hardly any air. Then you had to free fall for another few miles before you were at a hight where your wings would be able to get enough air under them then of course just to top it all off you had to look out for aeroplanes as well.
“Stupid human’s” he sighed under his breath looking down wards at the seeming solid ground that in a few minutes he would be passing straight through.
“Beramode?” came the voice of his brother behind him sounding slightly startled. Turning, he watched his twin close the distance between them almost transfixed. Dressed in his usual uniform of black pants and black zip up high necked shirt Ashurei was pulling on the full length white jacket as he left the building. Hanging almost to the ground the jacket closed around his neck with three silver buttons falling open for the most part.
Stoping a few feet from Beramode, Ashurei arched his wings stretching the muscles in them and adjusting the cloth around them. The special cuts in his jacket that would vanish with his wings allowing them full movement barely hindered in the slightest.
“With the dawn?” whispered Beramode turning back to the horizon.
“Yes, with the dawn.” He confirmed knowing what his brother was asking and knowing why. As he stood there beside his twin Ashurei couldn’t help but look him over discreetly. From the tight black pants with there purple design on the leg right up to the short sleeved over shirt that covered the full length of his pale neck. And as always two large ivory hoops hung from his ear odd engravings on them that Ashurei hadn’t translated yet. TO put it simply he was stunning and nothing else and no one else could ever compare.
“I’m sorry” he said finally making Beramode look at him.
“You have nothing to be sorry for” was the simple reply Beramode’s soft voice slightly sad when he turned away again “its what we are here for. To hunt the vampires and kill them I just have never really had the passion for it the others do. That doesn’t mean you have to apologize for it though you are and were simply doing you job.” Falling silent Beramode let his mind wonder and lost himself to his thoughts.
~This war has been coming for years I have always known that yet it’s now that I worry about it. Many of us will die most of us most probably what if Ashurei were to be amongst that number. What if he was killed on this mission we are leaving on now? Then I would never see him again and my sins would go unnoticed. Is that all I want though is that all I need? This is madness I should not be thinking things like this it is not right. Not before we go into possible battle and I doubt we will be able to avoid it for long. This isn’t right I shouldn’t feel like this he’s my brother, my twin. Maybe that’s all it is the feelings and love you have for a twin perhaps that’s why I feel like I do... it doesn’t matter any way he is an angel as am I. It would never happen it’s forbidden. My lord why don’t I care? that should mean something shouldn’t it?~
Watching his brother Ashurei noted the slight change in his features as his thought shifted. He looked troubled and doubting and so completely unsure of himself it wasn’t something he was use to seeing when it came to Beramode. His eyes were down cast his brows brought together in the smallest of frowns his pale lips parted slightly almost pouting.
The sun tipped the horizon singing in the new morning sending rays of light across heaven. Beramode’s wings flexed as he took a step forward the troubled look never leaving his face. Unable to simply let his twin walk away Ashurei acted on the first thing that came to mind and on impulse stepping forward he grabbed Beramode wrist pulling him backwards.
As he was pulled off balance Beramode’s wings spread instantly trying to rebalance himself as he pulled his arm free.
Getting his balance back quickly Beramode spun glaring angrily at his brother not expecting the flicker of emotions in his twins pale eyes. Nor did he expect it when Ashurei stepped forward one of his hands coming to rest on his hip while the other bushed his cheek gently. Leaning into both touches he sighed his eyes never once leaving his brothers trying to anticipate his next move, trying to figure out what Ashurei was doing.
He smiled slightly before Ashurei pressed his lips to his brothers ready for all hell to break lose at the forbidden contact. For his twin to push him away and take off down to Earth in anger, but it never happened. The one thing he hadn’t counted on was the small sigh that whistled out through Beramode’s nose. Or the way he all but melted into Ashurei at the gentle touch of their lips. Slipping his arm around Beramode’s thin waist and burying his other hand in his long hair he deepened the kiss gently and slowly still not able to believe this was happening.
Their tongues found each other the musky cinnamon taste of Beramode mixing with his own as they gently explored each others mouths. Ashurei pulled his twin closer to him as their kiss grew more confident both of them becoming more familiar with the other. Their wings arched up around them the outer edges meeting and pressing against each other all but hiding them from all prying eyes.
When they finally broke for air both the angel’s were flushed and breathing heavily as they looked into each others eyes. Moving so his forehead was touching his twins Ashurei took a deep breath calming himself before he stepped back.
“I can’t lose you B. If I did I don’t know what I would do. Be careful.” Brushing his thumb across Beramode’s soft cheek he smiled as his brother leaned into the touch. As if it was enough and nothing had happened he took four steps to the side his hand dropping back into place. Smiling once at his twin he shook his head slightly before jumping from the landing his wings tucked tightly against his body as he fell towards and through the ground.
The ground rushed up at him before he passed through it the weird sensation of the transition making Ashurei shudder slightly.
~Oh god what the hell just happened? I kissed him… I kissed my twin brother and he kissed me back. Dear god he kissed me back. We are both doomed completely and utterly damned~
