Chapter 2
A/N: Sorry if the sudden switch between chappies doesn’t make sense. I’m working on it. I’m not yet done the first part that I have already uploaded, but I felt like I was going to spontaneously combust or something if I didn’t post something new soon! I’d like to thank all of those who have reviewed this story for me! *huggles WoD and SS007* I love reviews! I love constructive criticism, encouragement, flamers, and even just simple notes from happy reviewers. Oh! And before I forget, there is a blank space later on in this chapter-( it most likely says, “Rei went into mode.”). I could think of a good word to put in there-(writer’s block ^_^; eh he he he). So can you guys give me some suggestions? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated and truly, carefully, and deeply considered. Thankies!!!^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^ ^_^
Now! On with the story!
Chapter 2
Rei walked home after karate class. He was feeling pretty darn good after having beaten the stuffing out of the dummy they had been working with in class. When he came to the fork in the path, he turned down the path leading into the forest as usual. After making certain no one was following him, he turned off the path and headed into the brush. He had many secret places here in the forest. Places he went when he was feeling lonely, scared, etc. They were so well hidden, that he could stay there for as long as he wanted and no one would be able to find him. But he wasn’t going to any of them. Not today. No, today he was going to his favorite secret spot. He made his way to the clearing. He had very advanced survival skills, so he wasn’t too worried about going hungry or getting lost. Besides, he knew his way around this part of the forest like the palm of his hand. One thing that made this particular spot so secluded and hard to find was that it was very close to the heart of the forest. It was also almost always 90% shrouded in a strange mist or fog. He never felt quite alone there, but it was a good feeling. As though someone was watching over him. Protecting him. He smiled slightly and gazed fondly around the clearing, then he walked on into the cave and set down his book bag and duffel-(A/N: He keeps his karate stuff-gi, belt, nun-chucks, etc. in the duffel bag) gently in a corner. He lit one of the torches he had made and placed on the walls with the lighter he always carried with him. He pulled out his homework and finished it in no time at all. Rei got up and into his karate gear. He moved over to a part of the cave that looked as though it had been created specifically for his use in karate practice. It looked remarkably like the inside of the dojo he attended. There was even a naturally padded area where he could practice the stuff he was learning. Mother Nature had even padded that entire area with a strong, tough, yet soft moss. Rei went to work practicing every single thing he had learned since the day he had first received his white belt. He finished practicing and changed back into his regular clothes. Then he went outside to work out the kinks he had built up during practice. He started up a nearby hill at a slow jog. After he reached the top, he stopped and gazed around. He could see a lot from up here. It was so peaceful and serene here, in the forest. It was all very calming and soothing to Rei. He felt sort of like he was the only human in the world and he was powerful. He felt at peace here in the forest, unlike in the house he had to share with his dad, who was drunk a lot. Rei snapped out of his thoughts. Something was wrong. He didn’t know what, or how he knew. He just knew it somehow. Rei went into mode. All of his senses were sharpened and his already acute senses were on alert. He caught every sound, every smell, every time the wind or something moved even the smallest bit, he knew. Suddenly, he saw much movement in the forest. Whatever was making it, was heading straight for his cave! Rei got a determined look on his face as he started swiftly and silently back down the hill and headed back to the cave.
