Chapter Two
CHAPTER TWO -- UNTITLED
“Stay still, wont you!” Ross barked, his eye’s flaming into mine. I looked up at Ross
questionably, did he really believe id just stand still and let him frighten me? Something wasn’t
right about him, something out of place; He definitely was one of a kind.
We were now struggling for domination, I had shocked myself when I had (out of nowhere)
jumped the kid. It was evident he was the stronger of the two. Even though he looked frail under his cloths, brute force held me down. glowering into the hateful eyes of my adversary the heat of our spite heated the room.
“Get off me, you oaf!” I demanded, child play now over. Grinning down at me the sparkle in his
eye stole a growl from my lips, I wasn’t brave, but neither was I weak.
“A tease?” He asked, it sounded more like a mocked statement but I refused to comment.
Pushing my upper palm against his chest I tried once again to pry him off me. “I think I liked you better when shaking in fear” Shrugging his shoulders, he loosened his grip enough for me to push him to his feet.
“What’s wrong with you?!? That’s why people don’t like you, Your weird!” Getting to my feet I
dusted non existing debris from my cloths, once satisfied I glanced up. Once again Ross was
blocking the door way.
“You just don’t quit, do you?!?”
Shrugging his shoulders Ross peered at me out of now dark eyes (weren’t his eyes a golden color before?). “Im hungry” He announced from out of the blue. Ogling Ross with disbelieving eyes I boiled with annoyance.
“Then. Go. Make. Yourself. A sandwich!” I screamed through gritted teeth. Shaking his head he
looked once again at me, “No, you don’t get it....”
My hands feel limp at my sides, staring up into the face before me, my jaw gaped open, I
muttered nonsense. Out the corner of his sheepish grin glistened two pristine clawlike teeth;
fangs? What the fuck? Is this what happens when you watch to much Sci-fi?
“What is going on?”
A sickly looking woman, with long blond hair, stepped lightly away from a nearby door, a long
white gown clung loosely from her body to trail slightly atop the floor boards. This image
reminded me of a porcelain angel.
Ross turned his attention away from me, to the elder beauty mere feet away. Seeing an opening for a hit-and-run I grabbed tightly to the door knob and yanked it open. A bright light shone from outside, realizing now how extremely dark the house had been I glance back at it as I retreated. Creepy!
Weeks passed, yet still I dared not near the eerie estate that brought me fear. As the days slowly ticked by, a nocturnal sensation of being followed etched my nerves. With night slowly
approaching I refused to let my childish notions effect me. Shadows chased non-existent foe’s on walls and in the streets, as moonlight streams the sidewalk in a vivid light.
I gazed up at the radiant stars shining down upon my small neighborhood. Pushing the inkling
impression of ‘maudlin mawkish’, I continued on my way. Earlier on during the day 3 hours
worth of babysitting led to only 5 dollars paycheck, which in turn gave me enough cash to buy a
bracelet at the community mall.
Not much works out with a babysitting job.
Rustling of dead leaves caught a high pitch gasp from my lips, swiping around I observed my
surroundings with energetic eyes. When a small black kitten proved to be the culprit of the
sudden sound I heaved a sigh of relief.
“Young girls shouldn’t be out on dark and cold nights”
The calm and soothing voice of Ross stole a growl from my frozen lips, turning I came face-to-
face with the miscreant of my rage. Ross; standing just yards from my house, was as much of an unexpected surprise as the black overcoat decently tied at his waist.
My brows arched and my dryed lips prepared to open on comment, but before I had a chance to catch my breath Ross had me pinned up against a rather uncomfortable light post. My human body betrayed me; the sensation of Ross drawing his fingers up my arm send goose bumps down my body. My heart beat increased and my breathing came out in ragged huffs.
Ross grinned, satisfied with my reaction. All motive to speak lost me. Illuminated by the light
above our heads I was given an exceptional view of my admirer. His eye’s gleamed their usual
golden sparkle, and his luscious lips snagged at the corner in a sheepish grin, closing the space between us Ross leaned toward my ear.
Grasping my waist he held me at bay so I couldn’t run, thinking to myself I forced myself to take in the honest truth – Even if I could run I wouldn’t; with this confessed I pondered why.
As Ross’s hot breath warmed my skin I willed my eyes shut, my heart was now racing faster – in excitement rather then fear. A slight smile quirked my subtle features. Seconds passed slowly, I refused to pull away or open mine eyes – or else this nightmare be but a sweet dream. If true, then I never want to awake.
Solitude didn’t last long, sharp cool fangs drew against my necks frail skin. Surprising myself I didn’t pull away nor did I run, Instead I leaned my head to one side in invitation. Ross chuckled at my brave proposal.
A high pitched bark emitted from around the corner, snapping my eyes open I stared wide eyed before me – nobody stood there. Brushing a shaking finger across my neck I could still feel the rush in my blood, I could still feel his hands about my waist holding me victim whilst I welcomed the brute.
I felt as if I had stepped out of a dream, dazed and fuzzy I glared fire at the small mutt whom stole away such a thrill.

“A brave soul” Ross shook his head in amusement. Still vexed on letting a small creature scare him away he plumped on a elegant sofa, kicking off his sneakers he shifted his body to better fit the sofa. Dragging his hands to poise behind his head he finally relaxed.
Minutes later the itching feeling came back, he needed to feed. Licking his lips he thought once again of the girl – Ayame. Her blood didn’t run coarse like his victim’s before her, her blood ran smooth and silky.
Grunting Ross got back to his feet, mumbling curses he climbed the stair well and slammed his bedroom door behind him.

Easing the door opened I prayed it not to squeak, tip-toeing in I felt a sigh of relief covet my
body. My ease didn’t last long.
“A-YA-ME”
Cringing, my head fell in defeat, walking toward the brightly lit kitchen I took a seat beside my
mother. Smiling up nervously I cowered under my mothers hot glare.
As expected mother repeated the line she had used for the past 2 years, “Where have you been?\" Fidgeting my hands in my lap my mind raced with excuses, I was expected home hours ago – I’ve been late before but never after midnight, this had to be a good reason.
“This wacko priest tried ‘ridding me of bad spirits’, then he kept following me around claiming ‘hell was falling from the sky’, so when I tried to get rid of him he started humming the ground and-“
“EXCUSES” My mothers shrill voice echoed off the walls, she had guessed my ploy, although I had expected her to already catch on a while ago – Mother wasn’t exactly the smartest woman. Unexpectedly I was grounded; I wasn’t aloud to go outside, let people inside, or even look like Im having fun (which canceled out the radio and T.V)
Sulking in my bed I realized how stupid I had acted, Instead of running I stood there like a statue. Cringing my brows in thought I tried to understand why I hadn’t felt fear, why wasn’t I afraid. I know what he is.
Shaking my head I chuckled at my imagination. Vampires? There is no way he could be ‘a creature of the night’, however, closing my eyes I seconded that thought.
Maybe I HAD been dreaming, maybe it just was my active imagination, or maybe he was what I couldn’t believe or except. Giving up on any compromise of thought I picked up a book and attempted to read, but somewhere between page 145 and 146 I dosed off.
