Forgotten

She thought it was something she\'d get used to - this heightened awareness, this new way of looking at things. Something that would grow normal to her, just as once she had grown used to walking and then talking when she was a child. It was new - and different - but surely it was something she\'d grow used to.

She hadn\'t, however. She was still skulking in shadows for months after he changed her - still starting at the smallest noise - which to her sounded like a volley of gunshots, or possibly something worse, harsher. He had been patient with her, had walked with her at night, had fed with her when it would be easier to do so on his own. She was glad for his presence, however begrudgingly he gave it at times. The world was so big and loud and bright she wondered if she\'d ever know it the way she did that first night. Wondered if she\'d ever grow calm and accepting enough of her powers to be as he was.

He placed a hand on her shoulder, his skin soft and cool against her own, and she started gently, and then turned to him with a sheepish smile. \"I didn\'t hear you.\"

He frowned then - so slight it would have been unnoticeable to anyone but her, and bent his head until his lips breathed out unnaturally warm air against her ear. \"You should have heard me, Morgan - you should hear everything. Your very life could one day depend on it.\"

He slid next to her then, barely making the pool ripple as he slid beneath it\'s welcoming embrace, and titled his head and looked at her. His eyes seemed to glow, and she knew hers were probably the same in the wan moonlight, picking up the last remnants of light and reflecting them a thousand times more brighter than any natural being ever could. His arm came up and around her, and she nuzzled her face into his shoulder, breathing deeply - catching the scents of him and his victim and the night air that had surrounded him as he made his way out in the city while she stayed here, alone.

\"You stay here too much,\" he whispered quietly, lips once again brushing her ear, and trailing down her bare neck to her shoulder. The water splashed up suddenly as she shifted away, pulling herself out of the water, heedless of the fact she was naked, because naked felt better than all the harsh, itchy clothes she had no use for - not while she was here, away from everything.

Morgan made her way from the pool - made her way from him - and she spoke as she walked from the water, as the liquid dripped off of her and onto the marble surrounding the pool. she stood there in the moonlight, moving slowly, as only they could do, and spoke to him - her life and her death.

\"Sebastian, I stay here because out there,\" she made a small, sweeping gesture with her left hand towards the visible lights of the city,\" there is too much for me - too much unless you are there.\"

He had gotten out of the pool silently, barely making the water move, and suddenly he was behind her, his body pressed against hers until she could feel his hardness against her bare skin.

\"It doesn\'t have to be too much,\" he whispered,\" It doesn\'t have to be so intense.\"

Morgan shivered and leaned into his embrace, eyes still on the city laid out below them. \"What can change?\" Her voice was soft, and she tilted her head finally and looked into his eyes. The same eyes that had captivated her heart and soul completely - almost from the beginning.

He turned her around, and kissed her cheek, and then trailed his lips down to her neck. \"Feel me,\" he whispered, even as he sunk his teeth into her throat.

And all at once she could feel him, and it was like it had been - the first time - when she had changed, when she had become. And all of it was controllable and it wasn\'t too much anymore. And she could hear him - inside of her as he needed to be.
