Oh! Canada!!!

Chapter Two: Oh! Canada!

(So far, so good, I have been changing the names to protect the innocent. Keep reviewing people!)
“I am sorry, Mark...” Raquella said, sitting at the pizza place where Mark had brought her for a ‘date.’ Raquella knew that Mark wanted more sex tonight, but for once, he wasn’t going to get it.
“Why are you sorry Raq? Are you on the rag again?” Mark said, picking up a slice of pizza, he sat across from Raquella at the local pizza shack.
“No Mark, I have to break up with you.”
“You have to?” Mark said, dropping the slice of cheese and pepperoni onto the table.
“I am going to, like it or not, Mark,” Raquella said, her face turning into a scowl.
“Y...you are breaking up with me...” Mark said matter-of-factly, not looking at Raquella.
“Yes,” Raquella was becoming more agitated.
“Why?”
“I can think of several reasons.” Raquella said, taking a drink to avoid looking at Mark.
“Try me!” Mark said, ignoring his pizza slice now.
“Well, for one, the sex was never any good.” Raquella hissed, now clearly irrate.
“WHAT? We just had sex two days ago... I thought you liked it.” Mark had an eerie smile on his face when he thought of that sack session.
“Mark, I enjoyed that sex about as much as somebody having a full frontal lobotomy and a full heart transplant with no aesthetic or any other form of pain relief.” Raquella said sarcastically. Mark didn’t catch the insult.
“What’s another reason?” Mark said, clearly not wanting to let her go without a fight.
“You are insensitive to my emotions, you never pay for dates, you always want just sex, you never are concerned with my sexual enjoyment, you never ask me what I want with my life, and you are an idiot.” Raquella said, standing up and threw a twenty dollar bill on the table, “Besides, I have met someone else...” Raquella walked away, looking at the shocked Mark for what she hoped would be the last time in her entire life.

“Hello Honey,” Greg kissed Lucilla, who just turned her face away, knowing that she was going to break up with him.
The couple sat at a booth at Texas Roadhouse, the first real date Lucilla had with Greg in a long time.
“Lucilla... there is something I want to tell you.” Greg seemed uneasy.
“I want to tell you something too...” Lucilla said, not touching the rolls in front of her. She loved to eat those rolls. “But you first Greg.” Lucilla tried to act nice.
“Lucilla... I love you, will you marry me?” Greg pulled a ring out of his pocket.
“No.”
“WHAT?”
“I said no.”
“Yes, I know you said no...” Greg said, feeling rejected, “But... why?”
“I am a grown woman, Greg, I don’t need you or THIS RING!” Lucilla stood up and threw the hideous ring at Greg.
“What did I do wrong?” Greg lay his head on the table.
“I do not love you, Greg, that’s what you did wrong...Greg, I am breaking up with you!” Lucilla turned towards the door.
Greg caught a glimpse of the impressive ring that Raquella had given her. “Lucilla...”
“Greg, I never want to see you again, and besides, I have met someone else...” She left his life.

Raquella’s graduation went just as planned, she received her diploma. Lucilla stood up and clapped and smiled for her. Raquella was happy and excited about starting her new life, she felt as if she was finally grown.
On the trip home from t he ceremony, as Lucilla drove, Raquella was oddly quiet and uneasy. Raquella felt something was wrong, and Lucilla felt her uneasiness.
“Raq...what’s wrong?” Lucilla reached over and touched Raquella’s hand. Raquella looked out of the window as they drove down the highway, and watched as the sun set behind the trees.
“Guess I am just nervous about our upcoming wedding...” Raquella said.
“Not getting cold feet are you?” Lucilla joked.
“No... it’s not that...” Raq said, squeezing Lucilla’s hand.
“I understand, I’m nervous too...”

Early the next day, the women packed up the rest of their belonging into their moving van. Raquella seemed still slightly uneasy, but she packed up her and her future wife’s belongings quickly and with an unsurpassed happiness.
The beginning of their life began as soon as they pulled out of the trailer driveway for the last time. They were heading to Canada.
***
The two women arrived in Canada the night before they were to be wedded. They got to a hotel room, and Lucilla wanted to go look around and shop, but Raquella was sickly and wanted to stay in the hotel room. They were in the great and beautiful city of Montreal, in wonderful Canada. Lucilla didn’t want to leave Raq alone, but went when Raquella told her that, “You can go get my wedding present Lucy...” Raquella was joking, but Lucilla finally went out without her.
Lucilla returned some time afterward, with a few shopping bags. She heard crying as soon as she opened the door to the hotel room. She walked into the room and saw a pregnancy test laying on the side table next to the bed. On the bed, lay Raquella, sobbing.
Lucilla reached out to touch the test.
“Don’t touch it...” Raquella said quietly between the sobs, “It’s got a few more minutes to register...”
“I won’t...” Lucilla didn’t touch it, but sat down besides Raquella and put her arms around her, “Either way, I will love you.” Lucilla snuggled with the other woman as she sobbed into Lucilla’s arms. “I just want you to know that, if you are pregnant, we can raise our child together.”
“Our daughter? But Lucy... biologically it will be Mark’s...”
“Fuck Mark! He doesn’t care about you, like I care about you...” Lucilla rolled over and picked up the pregnancy test... “I care about our child too...”
The women hugged and Raquella cried into her loves arms all night long.
