The Scientist

Come up to meet you
tell you I'm sorry
you don't know how lovely you are

He had always been a fragile boy, probably in more ways than just one. The doctors told him that he had too little calcium in his blood and bones; these were the same doctors that told him he would get better. That was the day he found that all doctors like to lie to people. But he enjoys the lies because they show their sympathy, unless the doctors are good actors too.
It was no secret that he was beautiful. It was no note of one's own conceit over actual facts. He was beautiful, as weak and small as he was, he was beautiful. Today he seemed to glow with his unnatural beauty, standing on the bridge as he balanced himself so his feet barely lifted off the ground. The blue jacket hung off his shoulders enough to keep him grounded, blue jeans ripped at the left knee to expose the pale flesh to the cold.
Oh, boy was it cold today.

I had to find you
Tell you I need your
Tell you I'll set you apart

His head didn't tilt as the footsteps that ran to meet him slowly came to a stop. His eyes didn't shift from the blue of the water. His grip still kept their hold to the rusting iron bar that was a safeguard for him from plunging headfirst into the water. His feet stayed stagnated slightly off the ground, like the earthly angel should be.
"You're going to fall." It was not a warning, just a statement of the obvious. The unruly black hair blew in the wind, the scent of Old Spice filled the next three meters around the small bridge.
"Would you stop me?" The airy voice of the boy said as he returned his feet to the ground, his act of defying gravity over.
"What?" The other boy returned as his eyebrows quirked curiously as he leaned forward, waist shifting to keep the one in front of him in sight as the other arm grabbed hold of the railing.
"Mister Matthias, would you stop me from falling?" He boy repeated, his eyes never moving from their spot in the blue water. The thin lips parted to exhale; a wisp of white smoke that blew from them soon disappeared in the air.

Tell me your secrets
ask me your questions
Oh; let's go back to the start

"What kind of question is that, Mister Vanelle?" The other boy "“ Matthias "“ asked, standing upright in a more dignified air since he was no longer slouching and lazy. How they liked to play the game of "˜Mister'.
"It's a hypothetical one, why of course." Vanelle replied, a small smile etching a line up the curve of his mouth.
"Of course," Matthias replied, choosing not to answer the question to annoy the other boy. He carefully turned to face the river that sat below them, listening to the silence and the other boy's breathing before speaking again. "Do you think you'd fall?"
"Must you always answer questions with questions?" Vanelle replied casually, smirking to himself more than anyone else before tearing his eyes away from the crystal blue and towards the other figure that had chosen to inch closer towards him.
"Yeah, I must." Matthias chuckled, tilting his head back to the matching blue of the sky slowly dimming away as the clouds overlapped them.

Running in circles
chasing our tails
heads are a science apart

"What are you, Mister Vanelle?"
"Pardon?"
"I'm just curious."
"I don't recall what we were discussing."
"What are you? Gay? Straight? Bi?"
"I don't believe that it's any business of yours what my preference is."
"I suppose."
"Would you like me to ask you about your sexuality?"
"I'm not as insecure about it as you are."
"What do you mean I'm insecure?!"
"Well, unlike some of us here, I'm a firm believer of the heterosexual cause."
"Lovely, really. I honestly needed to know."
"Don't cover your ears. Hey. What the heck? Stop humming."
"Ha ha."
"What are you a heterophobe?"
"No, what you do is-hey, I thought you where heterosexual, Mister Matthias. You shouldn't hug other guys."
"Tch. Of course I am. I don't like guys. I like you."

Nobody said it was easy
It's such a shame for us to part

A few leaves rustled on the ground, the edges of the brown crumbled veins now scratching the ground to create a distinct raking sound. Two figures sat one arm around each other as they watched the sun reflect against the blue water "“ turned red and orange as it danced like a river of fire. The fireflies buzzed near the edge of the river's edge, intertwining with one another to create a display of light that flowed just like the water itself.
He stared at the sunlight that reflected in his hazel eyes from the flow of the water before closing his eyes once again, raven black rocks of hair falling in front of his face as he felt the rain pour on him once again.
"It's raining." It was not a warning, just a statement of the obvious.
