The next morning found Brenna eating breakfast at the resort’s buffet. Even though she was reading her book she at least felt social enough to do so in a common area instead of in front of her little cabin on the beach.
She nibbled on her muffin as she got into a good part of the book. She silently wondered where romance writers got their ideas for stories. Then she wondered where they got their ideas for the sex scenes. There was no way anyone ever had sex like that. At least no one she knew of including herself.
Brenna continued reading and nibbling completely unaware of how crowded the buffet had become. She was caught by surprise when a gentleman approached her table.
“Is this seat taken?” The tall, tanned and well filled out man in shorts and a tank top asked her.
Brenna nearly jumped out of her skin. She looked around quickly, realizing all the tables were full. “Um…no. As long as you don’t mind if I’m reading.”
“Way to make a good impression,” she thought to herself. At least he was cute.
“Thanks.” The man, what incredible dark, curly hair, put his plate down and drew up the chair. “What’re you reading?”
“Oh this? Just a silly romance novel. Purely escapist reading.” Brenna buried her head back in her book trying not think about how nice looking this man was. She wasn’t there to meet a man. She was there to get over being harassed by one.
“Nothing wrong with that I suppose.” He replied politely.
“She doesn’t realize who I am,” the man thought to himself. “That’s a new one.”
The man must have realized he wasn’t going to get much conversation out of her because he didn’t ask any more questions or try to make small talk. Brenna was glad of it. After a few more bites of muffin she excused herself and returned to her cabin.
