Chapter Two
Todd’s shower, which could have easily lasted twenty minutes, was reduced to nine and a half minutes, allowing the other half of the tenth minute to going into drying off. Every single second was crucial if he was ever going to make up for his behavior this morning. Daddy might have forgiven him verbally, but often Todd felt as though he was on unofficial probation after committing a wrong-doing, no matter how minor.
“At least Daddy knows I’m trying,” he privately thought to himself as he recalled a faint memory he preferred to block out.
~~~~~~Folded nearly double table broken plate bits digging into his naked back COLD so cold take it out Tom please don’t you touch that stop your squirming please it hurts so badly please YOU’LL LEARN IF IT KILLS US BOTH!~~~~~~
He throttled himself violently from his nightmare and scrambled to groom himself to a more presentable state. His bangs hung limp and covered his face, making Todd wish he had an elastic band handy. Maybe Mark had a point about that barber thing. He mulled over this as he brushed his teeth and flossed, then cleaned up his mess and skittered downstairs.
Breakfast was just about cooked when he got to the kitchen. Mark was busy frying up some scrambled eggs and bacon when he heard his boy come in, and he couldn’t help but sigh when he saw Todd’s hair. “Baby boy, we need to get you to a barber. You look like a drowned Irish Setter.”
“At least I don’t smell like one, Daddy.” The jibe was childish and made Todd flush with embarrassment, but it seemed to make Mark happy. A smile began to creep across Todd’s lips as he sat down at the kitchen table; perhaps there was hope after all. “What’s on the agenda for today?” he asked casually, careful to mask his tiny hiss as his butt met the seat.
“I thought we’d make today very laid back,” Mark explained, removing the eggs and bacon from the stove to spill a portion of the fluffy goodness onto Todd’s plate. “I don’t want to throw too much at you too quickly. I thought today would be a good day to just be us. A walk, some coffee, swap stories, you know. Man stuff.” He lumped the rest of breakfast onto his own plate and sat down, holding out his arms and chuckling. “C’mere. That hard wood can’t be too comfy right now on your tushie.”
A blush, and then a wave of guilt; both of which Todd tried to ignore as he extracted himself from his chair and allowed himself to be guided into Mark’s lap. Who was he to pass up an opportunity like this? “Daddy,” he murmured, getting settled and resting his head on Mark’s shoulder. “I…well…when will we…you know…”
Mark paused, his hand stilling the fork in the dead air between waiting mouth and plate. “Sex?” he asked calmly, making Todd feel like a fool for not saying it outright. A purr rumbled in his throat as a paw-like hand reached up and stroked his red hair, teasing it and massaging the scalp. “I would prefer to wait for the test results before we did anything,” the blonde admitted. “It’s not that I don’t trust you; I don’t trust the partners you’ve had in the past. They could have something that could affect you, or me, or the both of us for the rest of our lives. I was very careful about my past partners, but even I can’t prevent everything. That’s why I got tested too. I would never forgive myself if I gave you a disease.”
“I think the only disease I have to worry about is ‘Broken Butt Syndrome’,” Todd teased, hoping to lighten the mood a hair.
It got a smile from his daddy, but little more. “I’m serious, Todd. No sex. Not until the results come back clean.” Todd nodded obediently and promised when Mark prompted, easing the larger male into a more comfortable, amiable mood. “Thank you, baby. This is a lot to ask of you, I know, but it’s only for your safety.”
“I know, Daddy,” he answered, then looked up with a mischievous glint in his emerald eyes. “Can I seduce you?”
A raised eyebrow and a feral grin were answer enough. “You’re tempting enough as it is. Now eat your breakfast and stop batting those doe eyes at me, or else.”
Well, Todd knew better than to argue with *that* logic. ^-^
