That Night

I went back to the kitchen and just sat there, after fifteen mintues of being bored, I looked at the clock, I had one hour before I go into the house. I figured I better finished my burger and just go do something till I have to go in. I wasn\'t really hungry, but my parents would probably yell at me for wasting food. I are half and took the rest with me. I walked out the door, I looked up to my room window and noticed that Chrstina and Taylor were watching me from their rooms. I waved and only Taylor waved back. I shrugged and kept walking. I didn\'t have to go very far, I saw my friends coming up the street and of course, Adam and Danny were frist, older than the rest of us, by three months. Adam, two mintues older than Danny, which basically made Adam the group leader. And only two people other than Chrstin knew how she felt about Adam and that was Danny and myself. Poor Adam. Probably would never know and I think that was ok with him.

\"You ready for this?\" Adam asked, breaking my thoughts.

I stood there, looking at them all.

\"Yeah i suppose. What did you think i was gonna do? chicken out?\" I asked.

\"Never know.\" said Jack, Danny\'s best friend.

\"He siad he\'d take the dare and he will. Chill.\" said Aaron, my best friend. Good \'old Aaron, he wouldn\'t care if I took the dare or not. I didn\'t say anything but i gave him a look that said \"thanks\" and in return he gave me a smile that said \"you\'re welcome\"

\"let\'s just go already.\" Danny said.

\"Alright.\" I said.

We walked about three streets away from my street, all the houses seemed to stop by the end of second street, there was no house on the corner of the second and third street. I don\'t think I never came this close to the house, never went to the end of the second street. I hated hearing about the family that was murdered after living there for no more than three weeks, two teenage twin girls, blond hair, i think both either 15 or 16, they had a little brother who was 11 or 12 with black or brown hair. From waht i remember from the story, a neighbor reported them missing about four weeks after the moved in. Supposedly, that was about ten years after the war, I remember seven years ago, a couple with a baby moved in, three months after they moved in, they became insane, a neighbor from the other street saw them running up and down without clothes on and they called the police. They told the police that they were enchanted by ghosts, that ghosts made them do it. From what i overheard from the city gossip -- my mother, they got life in the \"nut house\" as she said it, the couple\'s child was never found but the police found little fingers in the house, and that was about it. I think that house is alive, taking people\'s lives as food, quiet for years, somehow gets somebody to move in, and they\'re dead or somehow manage to get out but driven insane in less than six months, it\'s an old house, falling down almost at least, but liveable, I think. We walked up the giant hill that the house stood on and stood for about ten mintues, just looking at it. I wasn\'t getting afraid as i was nervous, just wanted to get in there, do my time and get out. I had that feeling you get when you know everybody is watching you, I looked at my friends and all but Aaron was looking at me.

\"How long again?\" I asked, looking at the house.

\"At least ten mintues.\" Adam said.

\"Piece of cake, alright, no sweat.\" I said, not trying to sound like i was afraid.

I walked up to the house, feeling very sick and light-headed. I wanted to throw up but Adam and Danny believe that was a sign of being chicken, a loser and not a man. I stopped as I got to the porch, I looked back at my friends as they cheered me on. I walked in the house and the last thing i can remember was this big explosion. Turns out, the city decided to blow up the house that day, without telling the people in the neighborhood.
That was one year ago today and I still remember everything like it was yesterday. The city rebuild the house, making it look nicer than it was, I stayed in the house or the rebuilt house anyways, as did the family that was murdered.
Together, we scared anybody who tries to move in. I don\'t hate my friends for daring me, my brother sister visit often, though i can\'t hug or talk to them, I let them know that i\'m still here and watching over them and that i love them.

Everything i have told you about that day is written from my memory and just appears on paper. I was dared to enter a haunted house and I died at 17.
