Chapter Two: A Forgotten Friend
~*~
Victor opened his eyes slightly, taking in a great gasp of air before letting it rush from his mouth. He stretched his arms, yawning lightly as he returned to reality. His eyes gazed up at the ceiling for a while, wondering what he was going to do today with the boy.
He compromised with asking Tyler questions; he was going to have to get to know this boy. Victor tossed the warm blanket off of his massive body, shivering lightly at the cold. He pressed his feet lightly to the cold wood on the ground.
He crept past Tyler’s room, wishing not to disturb the boy. He knew that the boy was exhausted with grief last night and needed to rest. He proceeded past the living room into the kitchen. He opened the fridge and grabbed a few eggs, taking them over to the counter top.
Since Tyler worked for an agency owned by the government, he was supplied with all that he needed. All he had to do was go to the nearest town to pick it up. This made life easier on him, especially when he needed things to entertain him fast.
Tyler opened his eyes, his forehead broken with a sweat. Images of his mother falling to the ground, pale and lifeless caused the tears to break his barrier once more. Why couldn’t he have helped her? Why did he have to be so weak?
He let out a low groan, wishing that it was all part of some horrible nightmare. His head throbbed with pain as he tried to get himself out of the bed. He wanted to go out to the living room and thank Victor once more for helping him.
His body fought him about getting up. He finally gave in and laid his body back against the soft bed, only to hold his head in pain. Tyler’s eyes tried to focus from the fogging of his vision. His head was throbbing horribly. “Nnn…” He relaxed into the bed more completely, trying to force the pain to subside.
Victor swallowed his food and closed his eyes in the pleasure of having a full stomach. He walked over to the couch, stretching out his body length along the soft cushions. He let a shallow breath rest in his mouth before releasing it from his mouth; he closed his eyes, seeping into a sleep that was disturbed early on.
Tyler’s head finally dulled with pain and he was ale to stand up. He walked slowly out to the hall and out to the living room. He noticed Victor asleep on the couch. The man’s half naked body slowly heaved as he took in soft breaths. Curving muscles twisted along the older man’s back. The stretching of his heaving chest caused them to flex with power as the man lie in a dreamless sleep.
Victor’s dark hair rested over his eyes; black strings of silk, tickling the skin on his forehead and nose. Tyler found himself thinking, ‘He looks so peaceful, a definite change from the ice-cold personality that he put out last night.’ He couldn’t help but smile at the peaceful face that pried a new on the older man’s face.
Tyler watched with gazing eyes at the abdomen that curved and dipped with well-defined muscle texture. Shadowed areas of the skin indicated a slight ditch in the tightly folded skin that was twisted to one side. He felt the heat of the vision play a huge role on his now warming body. Nothing would pleasure him more than to be able to run his finger tips along that untouched skin, taking in the light curves and folds.
Tyler quickly shook off his desire to run his hands along this man. ‘What has come over me?’ He interrogated himself harshly. He silently walked to the door, opening the locks and walking outside. Chilling air rushed all around his warm heat. He felt his body begin to frantically shiver. ‘It’s still dark?’ he thought puzzled.
Darkness rested soundlessly on the street beds that wound through the town. The sun was blocked by a blanket of dark grey clouds that made their way slowly along the atmosphere. He rubbed his hands to his thighs, fidgeting a bit uneasily. Was this such a great idea to be out here? He shook his head lightly, knowing that it wasn’t at all the place he should be.
Something moved along the street, more so very near to where he was standing. Feeling that it might have been his imagination, Tyler let out the breath that he had taken in on the first sound of it. Ice cold breath rested piercingly on his neck; he felt the presence of someone behind him. ‘Victor?’ he questioned to himself. The hoarse breathing was not that of a human; shivers cascaded through out his body as he came to realize what he had gotten himself into.
“Well what do we have here? Smells like a human.” The voice cut through Tyler’s body like a knife would his skin. The cold presence made him shake in fear, afraid of what to expect what was next. Was this it? Death?
One minute he was out in the street and the next he was pinned firmly against a wall. The vampire’s eyes gazed at him, coldly grinning at the boy. The long nails of the vampire’s hand cut into the skin on Tyler’s collar bone. Unfortunately, Tyler couldn’t even move or shout out in pain. Images of his mother being taken forcefully into the man’s arms and falling limp to the ground haunt his soul as he too was in one of the same situations.
The vampire’s eyes were filled with lust and hunger. Leaning forward, the vampire licked greedily at the streaming blood, running his other hand up the boy’s shirt. “You are going to wish that you never traveled in this town. All Tyler could do was close his eyes and hoped that not much pain would come from this.
The feeling on the vampire against his body left quickly, followed with a piercing cry into the sky. Victor’s towering body pinned the vampire harshly against the wall across from Tyler. Victor’s eyes were full of rage as he let out a silent whisper, “Do you really think that you should be playing out in public? Have you ever thought about asking consent before trying to drive into someone you just met?” His grin corrupted the sides of his mouth.
The vampire struggled to get away from the fierce grip of the dark man. Victor only laughed lightly, grabbing quickly for his stake and staking the vampire. The vampire let out a low scream before bursting into ash and disappearing with the wind.
Victor turned angrily towards Tyler, “What the HELL did you think you were doing coming out here??” His voice cut through Tyler’s defensive barrier. He couldn’t take anymore yelling.
Tears streamed needlessly from his eyes, down to his jaw to just to fall to their deaths off the skin. “I’m…I’m sorry…” His eyes filled with hurt. He drew his eyes to the ground in shame, adrenaline still rushed through his body. Victor looked at the boy, trying to calm his anger. “Look, it’s unsafe out here. Make sure it doesn’t happen again.”
Victor turned on his heels and went to the door to the base that lies just a few feet from where Tyler was attacked. Victor motioned for the boy to follow him. Tyler kept his eyes to the ground and followed Victor inside. He stood by the door, his skin still pale from fear.
Victor turned to look at the boy. ‘He looks so depressed. I wonder what that bastard did to him.’ He moved over to the boy. The boy began to shudder from the fear of Victor growing angry at him. Victor’s eyes soften, “Look, don’t worry. I was just worried that something would have happened to you.” He gently pulled the boy to his chest.
Victor held the boy close, wondering what he was doing. Something about this boy made him want to hold, touch him. Tyler soon calmed down, resting his head gently against Victor’s chest.
Tyler closed his eyes, feeling the warmth around his shoulders. His body began to melt in those arms; the feeling of complete protection tingled through his blood stream, sending it along his whole body.
~*~
Victor felt the boy limp in his arms. He realized how long he had held the boy in his embrace. ‘An hour?!’ His eyes deceived him. It only felt like a short while that they stood their, deep in each other’s embrace.
He pulled the limp boy fully into his arms, carrying him over to the boy’s room. He gently placed Tyler on the bed, covering him with the blanket. Something turned in his stomach. He knelt pressing his hand to the boy’s face.
Tyler lies still under his soft hand. His chest rose and fell as the boy silently slept in front of him. Gazing at the boy’s oft jaw, Victor found himself wanting to touch the skin. Victor allowed his fingertips to fall down from the boy’s cheek to the throbbing jugular on his neck. Victor actually felt his heart speed up at the boy’s mouth opening from the touch of Victor’s hand.
Victor smiled as he removed his hand from the boy’s neck. He stood up and left the room silently, hoping no to wake the boy.

Victor sat across the table from Tyler, “How old are you, Tyler?” Tyler smiled softly, remembering his age. “Sixteen and a half.” Victor nodded lightly, his mind slightly off a bit in other matters. Tyler looked at Victor, slightly fidgeting with his food. “How old are you?”
Victor shifted in his chair, his eyes hanging a tired gaze to the boy, “Twenty-four” He smiled, taking a small bite from his toast. He finally got up from the table. “We start your training today.” He said this simply and began to read the newspaper again.
~*~
During the days, Victor made Tyler study and practice the art of fighting. Many different fighting techniques were used to allow choice in the way you would react in a situation. Though at first it seemed hopeless, Victor noticed a spark in Tyler, something that reminded Victor of a younger version of what he used to be.
Tyler trained hard, working all the hours of the day until his body gave out in exhaustion. For two months they stayed inside fighting, reading, talking and bettering his knowledge of vampires as well as some of the myths that were lodged in human’s minds.

“Put your body into the kick; stop holding your strength back.” Victor said, frustration edging his tone to become like a nagging wife. Tyler gathered his composure before preparing himself by going into his stance. Victor stood with his arms crossed, waiting for the boy to attack. Tyler’s eyes lit up, grinning widely.
Tyler shifted his weight, letting his body fly into the air. Rounding his leg, he brought it to Victor’s side. Victor grabbed Tyler’s ankle and twisted lightly, causing the boy to aim falling him back to his chest. “You are getting better, but you still need to practice.”
Tyler nodded lightly, “I’m sorry…” Victor let his arms tighten around the boy’s waist, “Don’t be…” He smiled and let the boy stray from his embrace. Tyler walked over to the book shelf and grabbed a book. He sat down and began to read; Victor grinned as he watched the boy get lost.
~*~
Night crept through out the house. Tyler walked from his room to the living room. Victor was dressed, pushing his pistol into its natural place at his side. Tyler too had gotten a dark outfit. His gun pressed to his right side and the stake on his left. His hair brushed against his forehead; the light blonde hanging like silk on his face.
Victor turned with a grin, “Ready?” His eyes wandered over the boy’s body. He took note to how the black shirt grasped tightly against his hard-built torso. Tyler’s hands hung at his side, fidgeting with his newly bought coat, one a lot like Victor’s.
Victor moved towards the boy, watching hot the boy shifted uneasily as Victor got closer to him. Victor put his hand on the boy’s shoulder, clasping it gently. “Let’s go.” Turning, Victor walked towards the door. Tyler followed close behind; his eyes watching Victor walk into the pitch black.
Familiar scents of the musky street flooded his nostrils. His eyes began to slowly adapt to the darkness. Victor had told him that in this sort of scenario, Tyler must use his hearing in replacement of his vision. Tyler sighed as they began to walk; silent and bleeding in with the darkness that viciously surrounded them.
Victor shifted his head towards Tyler’s. “Listen with your whole body; vampires can be as silent as we are right now. They live at night so they have to adapt quickly to the silence.” Tyler nodded in understanding, “Understood, sir.” He allowed his mouth to suck in the night’s icy air. The darkness soothed his body as they continued to walk down the empty street.
Something was following them; Tyler could feel the approaching body. It moved almost like the wind, except its hands swished a bit and caused a slight noise. He slowed his steps, pressing his hand to the left of his body. Whatever it was, he was ready. Victor let a grin cross his lips quickly; he had noticed the presence long before they had even begun to walk. He held back his urge to strike, ‘No, I must let Tyler fight this battle.’ He thought harshly to himself, allowing the distance and Tyler stray a bit.
The vampire lurched out, grabbing Tyler into his grasp. All ready aware of the attack coming, Tyler grabbed the vampire’s face that now breathed heavily on his neck, sending cold shivers down his spine. “Damn HUMAN!” the vampire’s voice raspy and full of hate.
Victor leaned against the wall, watching as Tyler quickly kicked the vampire. Victor smiled, ‘He is like a shadow…in the night.’ He pressed his hands against the wall, holding his weight against the hard brick. Tyler dived as the vampire shot a dagger his way. ‘That was close…’ he thought harshly to himself.
Victor’s grin wiped from his face, “Oh shit!” He felt the presence of several other vampires. His eyes widened watching as a very tall, dark figure grabbed Tyler quickly from the ground. The man took Tyler into his embrace, pressing his lips tenderly to the boy’s throbbing neck. Victor growled, “Damion…”
Damion looked away from the boy, noticing the dark figure enter his view. His grin only widened at the presence of the man. His silk like black hair blew along with the wind that had begun to speed up. “Hello Victor, Nice to see that you were kind enough to bring me a welcome home gift.” His long fingers ran from the boy’s neck, sliding down to the boy’s groin. He rubbed it lightly, hearing a soft moan seep from Tyler’s mouth.
Victor’s face flushed with fury, “Watch it…” Damion laughed, “Oh please. You can’t do anything to me or I will be forced to kill this beautiful boy. I was really hoping to play with him before I bring him to his death.” His grin lay wide on his lips, “Maybe even allow him to become a vampire…”
Victor grasped his stake, holding it ready to fight. Damion’s eyes flashed as he allowed his hand to move under the boy’s material, rubbing the hard skin beneath. “This boy mean that much to you, Victor? Maybe just because you and I are soooo close, I’ll give him a bit of pleasure as well.” Tyler pressed his body back against the man that brought shivers down to his hardening arousal. “Nnn..” He quickly stopped himself. He shifted his body length under the man and tripped the vampire; he grabbed his stake.
Victor watched in awe, but quickly regained himself and took out his stake. He jumped into the abrinbringing down the stake only to find that Damion wase. Te. Tyler looked up as the stake pierced his skin. Victor’s eyes widened as he watched the blood rush out from the wound, running down his sides.
Tears simmered from the boy’s eyes. The pain ran through his veins as he felt himself slipping out of reality. He breathed heavily, whispering something about it being painful. Victor grabbed him gently, but quickly rushed back to the base.
