Chapter 2
5:30 am, there goes the alarm clock, as it screams “Get Up Jennifer, Time for work!” I hoped in the shower and remembered the vibrator incident. “Shit I wish I hadn’t done that. I really needed it”. I hoped out of the shower and moved to the side of my bed and picked up red lace undies, a bra to match, and tight fishnets; I was going for the sexy look today. Over that, was the pinstripe suit. I grabbed the lunch and keys, that’s it out the door. The drive in wasn’t so bad, but I just wanted to get in and work; the quicker I get going, the quicker the day would go. I walked in, walked to my office and sat down. Just then King Gorgeous walked in; I knew it was him seeing as how he was the boss, he liked arriving to see who was in on time and who wasn’t. He walked by my office, stopped and walked back to my door.
“Hey Jen, wow I can’t believe you’re here this early” Jeff exclaimed.
“Yeah! I prefer to take advantage of my time”
“Hmm” he said with a smile.
That tone and that smile, made me think. What was going through his head when I said that?? There was a short pause of silence and then I heard….
“Jen come here, please.”
“Yes?” I said entering the door frame.
“I would like to invite you to the meeting today. It’s during lunch” he said as more of an order than a question.
“Sure, what about lunch though?” I asked.
“Oh trust me you’ll get plenty of lunch.”
“Ok. Sure.”
“Great, I look forward to seeing you there!” he said, “I’ll let you get back to work, good job by the way”
“Thank You”
I walked back my office and paused walking through the door; that statement….no he couldn’t have been flirting with me. Could he? I passed it off and went to work.
For the rest of the day, I felt like I was constantly under surveillance. The morning meeting brought intense stares; Jake and Jeff both. Jake stared at me and mouthed “we have to talk”, I nodded at him, but that didn’t remove his eyes from me. However, I looked at Jeff, he had his pen hang from the corner of his mouth. He looked as though he wasn’t even listening.
“Excuse me sir…sir?” Tammy, another employee, paused.
“What, oh I’m sorry, my mind is somewhere else today” he paused and everyone looked at him, “Alice and I broke up” Jeff said.
Every ladies eye flocked to him, like he was an excellent sale. He was free meat now. They all got up and comforted him. But not I. I was to busy “being talked too” by Jake.
“Please let me take you out to dinner, I didn’t mean to imply anything by suggesting that rest…”
“Jake, listen its ok, I’m not angry and maybe, I’ll think about dinner. Promise” I said calming him.
I walked back to my office and began doing some work, until he walked in.
“Hey you left in such a hurry?” Jeff asked
“Ah yeah, I had to talk to Jake about something.”
“Oh,” he came in the door and closed it behind him.
“Are you two, umm” he cleared his throat, “seeing one another or something?”
“Hell no, he’s been ad thd these offices one to many times. He’s prolly even slept with the secretaries, he’s that low. He also…umm” this time I cleared my throat, “not my type” I said partially backing off.
He stood up, nudged over the pencils, and sat on the edge of my desk.
“Well I’m surprised; he hasn’t “tackled” you yet.”
“Yeah well, footballs not my sport, I like sports that rely on skills rather than strength.”
“Hey Jen, wow I can’t believe you’re here this early” Jeff exclaimed.
