Chapter 2
"Now we're getting somewhere." Jai began then asked. "What happened to you? You sound like you’re wheezing a little."
"Hn." Damian began obviously sitting forward. He tried again. "I was jumped by some guys, but managed to get away from them and I wound up here. I thought at first, you were one of them."
Jai listened to what he was being told then replied moving to his feet. "There's no one here, but me. Come on; let's get you out of here. Damian."
"Where are we going?"
"My drummers place, because his sister works part-time as a registered nurse and she can take better care of you, than I can." Then held his hand out to the dark figure. Some hesitation seemed to keep him from moving. Jai added. "Well, the way I see it. You can either trust me enough to go or stay here and risk having them thugs find you again."
A surrendering sigh was heard then a fingerless gloved hand touched his own causing a stir of strange emotions for Jai, but he chose to block them out. Soon after he helped the figure stand up. When they went back outside, Jai got a clear profile look at him when they reached better lighting. Damian's dark raven hair, which framed his perfectly chiseled jaw line, was slightly long and barely went passed his smooth neck with slightly long bangs that partially hid dark eyes in a teasing manner.
Once they reached the two-story home that his drummer resided at, he knocked then called out. "Jessie, open up. I need some help here."
Sounds of footsteps crossed the wooden floors then the lock clicked and the door opened. His drummer spoke when seeing Jai with an arm around another guys shoulder. "Whoa, hey I didn't know you were into that."
"Very funny, man. He needs help. Is Steph home?" Jessie grinned and nodded opening the door wider and the other two walked in. Jai had Damian sit down on the couch then said when he took his drummer aside. "I think he may have something wrong with one of his lungs. He was wheezing slightly."
"What did you do to him, Jaiden?"
"Damn it Jess. I didn't do anything to him, he was mugged and managed to escape. I found him at that old abandoned house on Hill Dr. He thought I was one of those guys." Jai fumed quietly.
"Calm down pretty boy. I was just joking. She is in the shower, just give her a few minutes and I'll have her look at him." Jessie replied with a smirk.
Jai shook his head with a slight grin heading back into the living room. He sat down in a chair across from where his new friend was but said nothing. Damian leaned his head back on the couch, trying to breathe clearly. Jai took the opportunity to study the clothing the other wore, noticing that the black leather vest he wore was torn in several spots, but still managed to cling tightly to it's wearer, defining every curve and muscle they found. The matching pants weren't out done as they too clung to the body that wore them. Including one such area that made Jai blush immensely and quickly look away just before Steph walked in. She spoke when seeing Damian sitting there. "Who is this babe?"
"Not now, Letty. He needs help." Jessie quipped then added. "Jai thinks he may have something seriously wrong."
"Really? Let's have a look. I promise I'll be gentle." She said winking at him holding out her hand. Damian looked over at Jai who only nodded.
After they left the room, Jessie said with a smirk. "You may not be into that, be he sure seems to be."
"Shut up Jess. Idiot." Jai retorted. His best friend laughed taking a drink of his beer.

"What happened to you, love? You have quite a few cuts, although not too deep, thank goodness." Steph asked taking out her kit.
"I was mugged out by the park, but thanks to some evening joggers coming to my aide, I managed to escape them." Damian answered flinching a little as some cleaning solution and ointment was carefully applied to the tiny wounds.
"Good thing they had. This one cut came awfully close to an artery. It’s not too deep, but I'll still need to stitch it up or it'll leave a scar." She said carefully cleaning the cut before continuing with the suture process. Five minutes later she was finished and added. "I think you're my favorite patient yet, I need more like you."
Damian laughed softly then said after taking in a deep breath when she asked him to. "I can endure pain pretty efficiently. I just don't like to."
Steph grinned then said finishing with the white gauze dressing that wrapped tightly to his midsection. "You're a unique one aren't you?”
"I try to be." Damian replied taking the pills she handed to him.
She laughed putting away her stuff then talked with him a little while longer.

"Jess, can I use the phone to check my messages?" Jai asked his best friend.
"Sure. It's in the den."
He stood up from the chair then headed towards the huge room on the left and down a step. Picking up the cordless, he dialed his cell phone and waited until hearing the second ring then punched his code to retrieve messages. His Aunt had called letting him now that she was finally able to place most of his stuff in her private storage and managed to sell off what he didn't want to keep, from the house and that it was now on the market. He made a mental note to go by and thank her for helping him out. The other call was from Tara letting him know the information for her arrival. Jai wrote it down then closed the connection and hung up. He said walking back into the living room. "Jessie, is it okay for Damian stay here tonight with you guys?"
"Yeah I suppose so. Everything okay?" He asked from the kitchen.
"Everything's fine. I just have a few things to do tomorrow as well as pick up Tara at the bus station. The apartment still looks like a warehouse and I only have that bed. Well actually, it can't really be considered a bed."
Jessie laughed and said. "It's okay. He can stay here, we have an extra room."
"Thanks Jess. Listen, tell Steph that I appreciated the help and I owe her one."
"Aren't you going let your friend know you're leaving?"
Jai stopped in mid stride to the front door then answered turning back around. "Yeah, I guess I'd better." Jessie shook his head with a smile and sat down with a few sheets of paper and his black drumsticks. Jai walked down the hallway and knocked softly on the bathroom door.
"Come in." Came Steph's voice.
When he opened it, Jai felt his heart skip a beat at the sight of his new friend's bare chest and mid-section that was now wrapped securely with white medical gauze. He spoke to break the trance. "Damian. I've got a few things to do tomorrow so Jessie said it was okay if you stayed here with them. I'll drop back by around noon. Okay?"
Stormy gray eyes looked up at him followed by the voice that tugged sensually at his mind. "Okay. See you later."
Jai asked when Steph walked out into the hallway pulling the door shut behind them. "I need to know how he is before I leave."
"He'll be just fine, Jaiden. There weren't any signs of either lung being punctured which is very good news. He had the wind knocked out of him, so that was the main reason he was wheezing. But, he does have a few cracked ribs and that's why he's wearing the medical gauze. He'll need to leave that on for a few days until they have a chance to mend. I gave him something for the discomfort, which is already beginning to kick in. I'll get Jessie to help me get him in bed. Aside from all of this, he's going to be just fine, so don't worry too much about it."
He thanked and hugged her then left the hallway. After saying goodnight to them, he left the house. His thoughts once again went back Damian's naked torso and the feelings of seeing him like that did numbers on him. The dark eyes drew him in along with the deep voice and the lips that formed the words. Jai could feel a slight twinge between his legs and gasped. Stopping, he took in a deep breath then let it out slowly and asked. "Why am I thinking of him like that? He's a guy for hell's sake." Shortly after stating that, the twinge subsided. The remaining distance back to the apartment, he chose to only focus on Tara and for a while, it seemed to work.
"Now we're getting somewhere." Jai began then asked. "What happened to you? You sound like you’re wheezing a little."
