Nether realm fair.
Aelita awoke in a sweat. She had had the dream again. About the day Kenzie had been taken from her. It had hurt. It was confusing too. The hunters had found a way to take away the life friend spirits bonded to them at birth. She had been the first, a test. They didn’t know what they were doing, so the pain it had caused her was monumental. Humans couldn’t see or hear the conversations that witches and their spirit friends had. That was a good thing; they might have put her in an institution. As it was she was taken into the hospital for a seizure. She had lain in a coma for a few months, and then awoken, asking for Kenzie, and screaming her nightmares. Most nights she still awakened to those nightmares, screaming for Kenzie.
There were times where she just wished that the hunters had killed her instead of ripping from her heart her best friend and companion. She had forsaken many of the male witches in the world, her heart was not into much of anything, and she was more separated than ever. Many had gotten their spirit friends taken from them, but she was the only one to really have survived it all. Most had killed themselves, because they had done the stupid thing and poured their magic into such a companion. Many couldn’t handle living without their bonded friend.
Since the six almost seven years after Kenzie was taken, Aelita had grown up. She was a slender girl, young woman actually, with the curves to match. She rolled off her bed, her lithe body in camo pj’s. Pj’s being her bra and underwear anyway. She stretched in the dark and blinked. Her bedroom lights came on, illuminating her long dark hair with a halo of purple. She slipped on a pair of hip hugger jeans and a tiny tee shirt. She pulled her hair up into a ponytail with a scrunchi then all her jewelry. She’d go to her classes and then figure out what to do for the rest of her day.
“Not so fast doll face.”
“Ahh! Krista, don’t do that to me. Where you there the whole time?” Aelita shouted. She was upset now.
“Don’t worry sugar. I don’t come until I get the go ahead from your subconscious. You didn’t care about Kenzie watching you.” Krista said.
Krista knew how to hurt Aelita very well by now. She didn’t like her charge at all. The young witch was in a shell and didn’t seem to react very well to all the cool things Krista loved to do. Of course, Krista was self centered and childish, not to mention a bit of a bitch. They never really got along, but Aelita had to have someone to teach her the heavy magic that should have come naturally to her by now. It was because she no longer had Kenzie that Krista had to come in.
“That is because even though Kenzie was a spirit, he was human. He saw me naked as could be on my day of birth. Besides, he told me how I looked and was honest about it. You on the other hand would only compliment me to further your own ends. Your only here to acquit yourself of spending the next century of your life scraping dragon dung.” Aelita said.
In a flash of light Krista had whipped out something from her pocket. Aelita made a motion with her hands and it slammed Krista into a wall. The woman gasped in pain. Aelita stood over her with a smile. It was cold, and didn’t reach her eyes, which were filled with an incommunicable sadness.
“Awww, Krista doesn’t realize that even though he still isn’t with me, Kenzie gives me that little boost. Let’s go. I want to be rid of your pleasing company as soon as I possibly can.” Aelita said.
“Well, let’s go to the fair. You will have to learn control, and that’s the best place for it.” Krista said wincing.
What Krista didn’t know, was that in the past week or so, Aelita had gotten strong, very strong. It was almost as if Kenzie was back with her, just not at her side. She was feeling happier than usual, and that was something. Her hoop earrings swung against her neck as she shook her head.
“You just want to go out and pig on junk food. I would love to do it, but I still need training. And you have yet to acquit yourself.” Aelita said.
“Oh, but this is the witches fair. Where you use your magic to get prizes, to go on rides, to check out the shows. Face it scrub, you need to go.” Krista said.
Aelita sighed and rolled her eyes. With a wave of her wand she vanished with Krista. She would fix the school thing when she got back from the nether realm. She appeared there, in the cool outfit she wore in the realm of witches. Her crimson and black skirt looked like it was shredded and uneven, but it was her style. The collar was ripped so it hung off her shoulders.
She followed Krista around, faking at the games. They didn’t hold much interest for her. Krista kept stopping to try and exchange numbers with the guys there. They seemed to not want to have anything to do with her. Rolling her eyes Aelita yanked Krista’s arm from a particularly good-looking Johnny Depp. In this realm, he most resembles his role in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean. He was just another witch in this world however.
“Ouch! You little cockroach! Why in the hell did you drag me away from him?!” Krista shouted.
“It was obvious from the way he was turning green that he had had enough of your cleavage being shoved in his face. Leave the guys here alone; we’re here because you’re on the job.” Aelita said.
Krista growled at the unfairness of it all until Aelita pointed out the dragon rides. She then took Aelita into a tent that said something that she couldn’t quite read because Krista was in the way. They sat down in what appeared to be a little booth as the lights dimmed. Krista found the show hilarious, but Aelita saw that it was just a bunch of poor innocent souls that were deformed in death. It didn’t happen often, and when it did, they were ridiculed much like those above world in the living.
Aelita ended the show by standing up and getting ready to storm out. She stopped in her tracks to peer through the hexiglass. She thought she saw something, and she felt somewhere deep inside a twinge. As she peered through the glass at the person inside, she realized that he was not deformed at all. But before she could get a good look at him, a humongous paper mach`e head materialized over hers and she about fell backwards with the surprising weight.
“Krista! You slime ball! You Dragon dropping, leech haired, stupid ho bitch!” Aelita started swearing in earnest now.
“Now, now Aelita. There are kids around. Keep you civility in check.” Krista said with a smug grin. Aelita pulled the head off hers and threw it at Krista.
“I don’t care. You’re gonna be scraping dragon dung until the sun explodes. I’ve had it with your idiotic pranks. Your nothing but an ill mannered, stuck up human teenager.” Aelita said. THAT got Krista very angry.
“I AM NOT A HUMAN! Let alone one of their sniveling brats! If you wanted to see so bad then look, infant witch.” Krista exploded.
Aelita did. She peered through the glass, as the figure approached. As the shadows slipped from him and he approached the glass, Aelita squinted to get his appearance in. He had dreamy dark hair, and eyes a puppy dog brown, at least one anyway. The other was green as grass. His skin tone was a shade lighter than hers. And his smile, it was the most familiar of all.
“That’s my Aelita.” He said with a smile.
“Kenzie.” She whispered, feeling the pain and memories all over again.
“AELITA! Look out!” Kenzie shouted.
Krista slammed Aelita in the back with a force strong enough to kill a bull. Aelita staggered, having another of her seizures. Krista thought she had her. But this time Aelita did not come out of the seizure weakened. She stood and started muttering under her breath and making symbols in the air. She finished it with a wave of her wand. Krista howled in pain. Suddenly the room disappeared, taking Krista and Kenzie with it. Aelita fell to her knees crying, shedding all the years of pain. Soon she stood and with another motion of her hands, disappeared from the Nether realm and onto a dark street in the town she lived in.
I\'ve started to think on this one again. Hopefully this makes you smile. I had to bring Johnny Depp in there, I had to. He\'d make an AWESOME witch/wizard.
