A sad fate

The walls were covered in black lace that danced in the flickering torch like light. The floors crawled with people scantily clad or dressed as dark Victorian individuals. Pale faces mixed with painted faces. Vinyl shined along side chains and the music? The music was madness.

Mikel sat at a table on the edge of the dance floor watching his sister dance. Other people watched her too, some joined alongside her only to be laughed at by the girl they sought. More simply enjoyed the chance to be around the vivacious young woman.

Mikel smiled faintly. Maeve always was the more outgoing of the two of them. She was a cheerleader from age five until she decided in middle school that all cheerleaders were snots. Then she joined the drama club where she fit in perfectly, but it wasn’t enough. There was the drill team, school council, and countless volunteer programs after school.

Mikel was the more subdued of the two. He was the one chosen last in games as a child and spent more time playing by himself. As he grew older and entered school, Mikel found his place as an academic. He loved the library, computers and chess club.

“Hey pretty.” a voice said as they sat down beside Mikel.

He glanced over them and sighed. Someone with pale blue hair, lavender eyes with red stripes down their face to their red lips had taken an interest in him. At first, Mikel thought they were a girl, what with the white sleeveless turtle necked dress, but the huskier and deeper voice gave him away.

“My name’s Sin.” he told Mikel.

“I’m uninterested.”

Sin pouted and looked in the direction his company was looking. He saw Maeve laughing across the dance floor dancing beside a man with spiky black hair. In contrast to most of the people in the Black Widow, he wore a red button up shirt, black slacks and a pair of expensive deck shoes.

“She’s a pretty girl, yours?” Sin inquired with a sly grin.

“In a manner of speaking,” Mikel responded and added firmer, “She’s my sister.”

Sin nodded and said an understanding “Ahhh.”

After the song was over, Maeve came over without the guy and sat on the other side of her brother.

“Who’s your friend, bro?”

“I’m Sin.”

Maeve laughed, “Oooo, Big brother has an admirer.”

Sin reached across, took her hand and kissed it, “I admire pretty things, such as yourself and your brother.”

Maeve blushed as Mikel buried his face in his arms and Sin chuckled.

“Looks like he’s not the only one.” he told Maeve and pointed behind her with a curious smile on his face.

She turned and spied the same man she danced with earlier with a red hair woman about the same age. Despite the beauty of the woman in her studded choker, off the shoulder mini dress with a silver hooped belt, black fishnet hose and knee high boots, her company was obviously staring at Maeve.

Maeve turned back around in her chair and giggled. “Oh my God, he’s got this hot girl with him and he’s staring at me!”

Mikel lifted his head up and looked over at the man. A shudder threatened to run through him. There was something about the mysterious man that screamed at Mikel to run.

Across the dance floor, the man tapped the red head on the shoulder and pointed at Mikel with a smile. The woman turned and locked eyes with the teenager and she too smiled. Sinisterly.

“I wonder who they are.” Maeve said as Sin took her brother’s hand.

“You didn’t ask while you and him danced?” Sin asked as Mikel attempted to retrieve his hand. The blue haired man only chuckled at his unsuccessful attempt.

Maeve shook her head, “Nope. Too busy.”

“Why don’t you go over and introduce yourself.”

Maeve looked back at the dark haired man. Go over to them. He wants you too. Sin says to, it‘s a smart idea. She could almost hear the man’s voice calling her, begging her to come introduce herself. The woman with him didn’t matter, only she did.

Go see him. It was almost as if a spell had been cast upon her. Then it ended.

“Maeve, remember what we promised.” Mikel told her. She shook her head and laughed as she turned back around toward her brother.

“Yeah, gotta keep Momma happy.” she replied.

Mikel glanced over at the man and saw him scowling at him and the red hair woman had an amused smile on her cool beautiful features, her eyes solely for the man she was draped over. He frowned back at him and finally succeeded in freeing his captured hand. Sin pouted daintily then brightened.

“So your name is Maeve.” he began and leaned against Mikel as he captured the teen’s arm. “What is your brother’s name?”

“Answer and I tell Mom and Dad about that time you and your friends got stoned at your boyfriend‘s.” Mikel snapped.

Maeve’s expression turned dark, “The hell you will, Mikel! I was not stoned at Blaine’s. I was drunk!”

“Fine, I’ll tell them you got drunk!” Mikel shouted obivious to the fact his name was revealed and jerked his arm free of Sin.

“You do and-and, I’ll give Sin your phone number!” his twin shouted. Sin brightened immediately at those words.

“You do and I’ll kill you!” Mikel shouted.

An unfamiliar chuckle came from behind them and Maeve was jolted up into the arms of the man from the dance floor.

“In the interest in the safety of the young lady, I shall take her away.” He announced.

Maeve was about to give a negative response when her eyes locked onto his reddish eyes and she became lost. She went willingly back onto the dance floor with him. Mikel would have jumped up and gone after them but Sin again captured his arm and kept him in place beside him. Soon Maeve was lost in the crowd.

“Stay here.” Sin ordered locking eyes with Mikel.

His muscles relaxed, everything except the lavender eyes in front of him grew fuzzy. The frantic music blurred into the background until all Mikel could hear was Sin’s voice.

“Good.” He told the dazed teen. “You stay right here until I come back then you, me and a friend will go have some fun.”

Mikel’s mind screamed a very firm hell no, but from a distance he heard his own voice say, “Okay.”

He didn’t have long to wait for his puppet master’s return but in the brief interval of solitude, Mikel’s mind raced.

What’s wrong with me? Why can’t I move? Why can’t I disobey that fruit Sin? Who is this guy? What is this guy that can lock eyes with you and command your will away?

Sin came with a person Mikel would later learn was Luk Jiang. For now he was a big Asian guy who looked extremely nasty. He wore a white muscle shirt, black form fitting leather pants and heavy duty army boots.

“Luk dear, meet Mikel…last name please.” Sin commanded.

Mikel fought the compulsion to answer with everything he had. His face twisted with the effort and he replied through gritted teeth, “Go to hell.”

Sin pouted as the muscles in Luk’s massive arms flexed in annoyance.

“Such language.” Sin said to his friend. “And such spunk! He’ll be excellent for our purposes.”

Luk snorted, “Why do you have to play with the food?”

“Because.” Sin replied with a predatory smile, “I like Mr. Go to Hell. And since I’m already in control of him…”

It was at that time Mikel snapped out of the spell Sin had created, leap over the table and took off running in the general direction he last saw his sister. He shoved aside dancers as he followed his inner sense and burst through the back door into an alleyway.

There was a strange gurgling that filled the air along with the sound of pounding flesh against flesh. Shadows danced everywhere. Someone was ahead of him and he took a step toward them.

His eyes locked with familiar glassy eyes staring up at him. Her hair spilled over the red hair woman latched onto her neck. Pumping into the familiar naked body was the strange man from the dance floor.

His mind refused to acknowledge what was happening. It couldn’t be, it screamed. A strange roaring began to drown out the gurgling, and now audible slurping, the striking of flesh against flesh.

Before darkness claimed him, Mikel saw the red eyed man climax inside his sister’s body, while his woman continued feasting on her blood.
