Chapter 2~

Chapter 2~

The alley was dark and smelled of floral perfume and rotting meat, a disgusting combination. Gael’s foot steps made no sound as he trod over the cracked pavement and over the garbage that littered the ground. The place where his current assignment was supposed to be was right ahead, Club Icing. Icing, meaning cocaine, as was the drug slang in these parts.

As Gael came closer to the back entrance of the club he pulled a pair of black leather gloves from his pocket and slipped them on. Twenty yards, now fifteen, ten, five, Gael could hear voices now, and he hid himself in the shadows. There were four men outside, and one woman. One man was twitching nervously as he faced the three other men, two large bodyguards standing on either side of Michael Start. Th. The woman was standing behind one of the body guards, and Gael could see the handcuffs chaining her to the large man.

“Here’s your money man.” said the twitching man, “Give me the bale (marijuana) I paid for, I haven’t smoked any in so long I’m startin’ to get agonies (withdrawal symptoms) and shit.”

Michael Starthers motioned to the bodyguard on his right, the one that was not handcuffed to the woman, and nodded. The man reached into one of the inside pockets of his coat, briefly revealing a pistol, and pulled out a small bag of marijuana. The twitching man snatched it eagerly and put it into his own pocket. “There you go my dear airhead (marijuana user).” Starthers said in a smooth voice, “It was very nice doing business with you, run along now.” The man nodded his thanks and left quickly.

As the man left Gael’s mind was on the pistol he had seen. ‘I only got a quick glance.’ he thought, ‘But, from what I could see it looked like a Steyr Model S Compact. 9MM, reset action system, semi-automatic; damn, Starthers keeps his men well armed, I better make this fast then.’ With that last thought he stepped out of the shadows, his hat hiding his face. “Anything going on? (Do you have drugs to sell?)” he asked, gaining the three men’s attention, while the woman was dragged behind them.

“That depends who’s asking.” Starthers replied, putting his hands in the pockets of his neatly tailored pants. “I don’t t I’v I’ve seen you around before”

“I’m new in town.” Gael replied, “And how about this, You don’t ask for my name, and I won’t ask for your’s.” He said, knowing full well that Starthers would recognize his name if it was spoken.”

“Very well, that seems like a fair trade.” Starthers said, nodding. “What were you looking to buy my nameless friend?”

“Icing (cocaine), and since you deal outside this club I thought you would be the guy to ask.” Gael said, motioning towards the painted ‘Club Icing’ sign, near the backdoor of the building.

Starthers gave a low chuckle, “Right you are. How much will you be wanting?”

“One Gramm,” at Starther’s raised eyebrow he added, “for now. I want to see if it is worth what I will pay for it before I invest a lot of my money.”

“I like the way you think.” Starthers said, “It’s $150 per Gramm, so if you hand me the money I will hand you the merchandise.”

“No,” Gael interjected, Starthers looked at him strangely. “You hand me the goods first and then you will get your money.” Starthers started to object, but Gael held up a hand. “I’m not paying $150 for gaffel (fake cocaine). I check to make sure it’s real before you even touch the money.” he said, since he had no intention of buying the drugs in the first place. He just needed to get close enough so he could do some damage before the two body guards had time to make use of the pistols hidden in their coats.

Starthers grinned. “You don’t trust me do you?”

“I don’t trust anyone.” Gael said.

“You remind me of someone I used to know.” Starthers said.

“That’s nice, lets get on with this. I have somewhere to be.” Gael said stepping cr. Sr. Starthers nodded to the bodyguard on his right again and the man reached into yet another pocket. Gael stepped closer again as the man drew a little bag of cocaine out of the pocket, holding it out for Gael to take. But, Gael did not reach for it, instead he slashed the man’s throat with one of the blades that had taken him less then a second to draw out of it’s sheath.

The woman screamed and tried to run but was still handcuffed to the other bodyguard. That guard reached for his gun, but received a knife to the chesforefore he could draw the weapon. The woman was half dragged to the ground as the heavy man fell lifelessly to the pavement. That made two, and now it was Michael Starthers turn.

The man was in shock, but quickly recovered and began to run away. But he was not fast enough. In two quick steps Gael had caught up to him. He grabbed the collar of Starthers’ grey suit and threw him to the ground. He stepped over him, and allowed Starthers to see his face. “Gael?” the man croaked.

“Forgive me cousin.” Gael said as he plunged a curved blade into Starthers’ chest. Gael straightened up, a bloody knife in his right hand, and looked down at his now dead cousin. The sobs of the woman echoed behind him as she tried desperately to free herself from the handcuffs that bound her to the now dead bodyguard. Gael bent again and made the sign of the cross on Starthers’ forehead and then turned toward the girl.

She screamed as his gaze settled upon her and pulled even harder at the handcuffs. He walked toward her and she screamed even louder, calling for someone to help her. As he reached her he crouched down so his face was level with her’s and he grasped her chin. She pleaded in a quiet voice, begging him not to rape or kill her.

Gael slowly raised his knife above her head without her seeing the action. “I’m sorry.” he whispered as he brought the hilt of the knife down on the top of her head, knocking her out cold. He quickly picked the lock on the handcuffs and lifted the woman, or girl, from the ground. She looked no more than nineteen as he looked down at her face. He sighed and carried her to where he had parked his car before he had gone to the church.

Gael put her gently down in the back seat of his car and closed the door. He didn’t get in the car right away. He stood outside for a moment, breathing in deeply. Trying to erase the smell of blood from his nostrils.

AN: hello again. Okay, since I have never bought any drugs I\'m really not sure how it\'s done. So, this is just a wild guess. I hope I got it semi-correct. All the drug slang was gotten from this website http://www.ni-cor.com/drugslang.html the gun I was refering too can be found on this website http://www.galleryofguns.com/gungallery/index.asp and all of the prayers from chapter one can be found here http://www.catholic.org/clife/prayers/ I just know all of you are going to rush to the prayer website (after you review of course). Well, that\'s all for now
