Leaving Home

Jon walked over to Devi, and gently wrapped his arms around her, and softly rocked her back and forth, whispering that she would be ok. Nick walked into the room again, only moments after Jon had walked past him.
Ignoring that Jon was there, Nick walked over to Devi and knelt down next to her and said “Now, see what happens when you cheat on me? Don’t do it again...”
She glared up at him as she clenched her fists. Yet she couldn’t do anything about it because the pain in her body was so intense. Instead, Jon stood up and got into Nick’s face. “You son of a bitch..If I had known that you were hurting her, I would’ve beat the shit outta you when we first met. Stay the fuck away from her from now on..” He sneered.
Nick looked at Jon challenging him with his eyes to do anything, as he got up and walked out of the house. As soon as she heard the door slam shut, she began crying again, harder than before.
Jon bent down and picked her up, and carried her over to her bed. He looked at all of the bruises and cuts and scars, and he was filled with rage. Yet he kept in concealed, so that he wouldn’t upset Devi moren shn she already was.

That night, Devi sat in her bed, completely alone. She almost had to push Jon out that night, but now that he was gone, she regretted it. He was the only person who was willing to take care of her, and he was the only one who knew what happened.
Devi was completely silent and still as she thought about the past day. She remembered how she had told Nick that she would rather be with Jon than him, but, it was true. She had always had a thing for Jon, but something always kept them apart.
That night as she thoughout out him, and how much he had done for her that day, she couldn’t help but smile. A few minutes later, the phone began to ring. She answered it, not even thinking to check the caller ID.
“Hello?”
“Hey Dev, it’s Jon...Listening, I’ve been really worried about you, I don’t trust Nick at all..Will you please come up to my place or let me stay up at yours until we’re both sure that he won’t come near you??”
The only thing you could hear for the few seconds after that, was their faint breathing. A slight smile was painted across Devi’s face, and then she replied, “I would like that. Which would you prefer?”
“Lets stay at my apartment. I’ll come and pick you up in about 10 minutes.”
“Thanks Jon, I’ll see you then..” Devi put the phone gently down, and got up. She pulled out a back pack knowing that Jon wouldn’t let her go home for at least a few days, so she tossed in a few sweatshirts, some faded jeans, and everything else that she would need, along with her wallet.
A few minutes later, there was a soft knock on her door. After making sure that it was Jon, she opened the door once again, and walked out of her home, into the darkness.
