Chapter 2

Shio:style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Changing Days

style='mso-tab-count:1'> It had been a few days since I had
discovered who Aki’s master was. I knew
that Yumi would keep him inside for speaking with me and it was good, I had
other things to worry about. Changing
days were near at hand. I wasn’t
looking forward to it.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “Shio.” Ran said, walking into Soma
and mine’s room, “Come on, we have to go.
Yumi wants us.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I scowled, “For what?”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “It’s time, you know what for.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I sighed, “Is it really that time
already?”

style='mab-cab-count:1'> “Yes, it is.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Come on.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I got up and followed after
him. Together we made our way to where
we would be spending the next three days.
Starting tonight, Ran would change and I would be one easily upset
quarter. At least the pen I stayed in
was comfortable. I walked into my pen
and curled up in bed. Yumi would be by soon
to lock the door. No one wanted to be
around quarters during changing days, understandable, I wouldn’t want to be
around me either.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “I’ll see you later Ran.” I said
through the wall.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “Have fun.” He replied.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> At least we were part of Yumi’s
group and not a larger one. It was
better this way. The other ones did
large group days. I wouldn’t want to be
with quarters that were closer to being purebloods when they changed.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> It wasn’t a pretty sight to see them force
change into their demon form.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> Yumi looked in on me, “Shio, I’m
sorry Soma had to go. I’m sure he would
much rather be with you. At least when
he’s here you don’t have to be locked away.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “I know, but he has to do what he
has to do. I’m just secondary.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> Yumi smiled, “Pet’s are important,
you know that. I’m going to lock the
door now, see you in three days.” He said before closing the door and locking
it.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I sighed and flopped back on the
bed. It was going to hurt soon.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Changing always hurt even if it wasn’t a
physical change. I closed my eyes and
relaxed, waiting patiently for it to happen.
Ran would change first, always did, so if I heard him scream I knew that
I would soon follow. That was what I
was really waiting for. Finally I heard
it, Ran’s screams. Soon after his first
scream I doubled in on myself, a sharp pain shot through my stomach, and I knew
that it was starting. I was so used to
having Soma there, so used to him stroking my back. I whimpered softly.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “Damn you all!” I growled.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> When the pain stopped I got to my
feet. There was nothing to do.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I began to pace, boredom had set in so
quickly. I couldn’t get Soma off my
mind. He was the only thing I could
think about. Growling softly, I picked
up a chair and hurled it across the room.
Watching it shatter into pieces.
Finally I went to sleep. There
was nothing to do and I was upset. I
hated changing days. When I awoke the
next day I grabbed a leg of the broken chair and began stabbing the bed with
it. I growled deep in my throat and
shoved the leg through my pillow.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “This is boring.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> I wish Soma was here.” I growled, picking up
a sharp splinter of wood.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I needed something to take my mind
off him. Slowly I began to cut into my
arm. Watching the blood flow from the
wounds. With a smile I ran my tongue up
the wounds before making more. Pain,
sharp and sweet, drove everything from my mind. I sat there infatuated with the wounds, the blood.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> After a few hours I began to feel
lightheaded and soon after that, I passed out.
I awoke the next night, feeling a little better.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> My wounds had scabbed over but Soma was
still on my mind. This was my last
night; this was the last changing day.
I couldn’t keep cutting myself; if I did Soma wouldn’t have a pet to
come home to. I didn’t even really have
the strength to get up. I opened one
wound just to make me pass out again. I
didn’t want to be conscious anymore.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “Shio!” It was Yumi’s voice that
awakened me.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> Slowly I opened my eyes, “Yumi?” I
questioned.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “What did you think you were
doing? That was foolish of you!”

style='mso-cou-count:1'> I whimpered softly as he examined my
arms, “I wanted something to get my mind off Soma.”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> He sighed and picked me up, “Soma is
not going to be happy. There’s no way
you’re not going to be left with some scars.” He sighed, “Let’s get you
bandaged up.” He said, carrying me out of the room.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> I f>I felt a little dizzy but was all
right. He carried me to my room before
pulling out what he needed to wrap my arms.
I still wanted Soma home and would do anything to have him back.style="mso-spacerun: yes"> Without a word, Yumi applied a stinging
cream to my wounds and I took in a hiss of air.

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “Ouch! That hurts!”

style='mso-tab-count:1'> “You shouldn’t have cut yourself
open then.” He stated before wrapping my arms from elbow to wrist in white
bandages, “Get some rest.” He ordered, covering me up with a blanket, “Ran will
be in to check on you later to make sure you haven’t injured yourself or
removed your bandages. Tomorrow you can
go outside but only if you don’t hurt yourself or unwrap your arms.”

“I won’t.”
I whispered.
