The darkness

\"A false enchantment can all to easily last a lifetime.\" -W.H.Auden

The room was dark, except for a circle of candles encircling a board of some sorts. Clare had closed all the curtains so that the candles were the only source of illumination. Clare was wearing a black robe that made her look like a nun in the making and had forcibly made Jazm to wear tame ame tacky looking outfit. Jazm sullenly submitted, knowing that resistance would be futile. His mind was already pondering the events that would transpire after the whole stupid ordeal was over, keeping his mind happily occupied. Clare motioned Jazm to sit down opposite to her with the board between them. Jazm obliged and the invoking of the spirits began.

Clare closed her eyes with her hands held out in a welcoming embrace as she began to chant.

\"Guardians of the north, south, east and west I ask for thee to come to me...\"

Jazm suppressed a giggle, as she repeatedly chanted. Who would have thought that wicca involved such avid poetry? He didn\'t say anything though, knowing that the consequences of that action would need the four guardians themselves to stop her from killing him.

\"Come to me.... Use me as your messenger.... I bid thee.\"

Jazm watched her, her eyes were open, but only the whites were showing. He didn\'t makmovemove as she was still talking, faster now but still talking. Closing his eyes he mimicked her arms so that she would not catch him out. The room was quiet except for Clare\'s chant; he felt multiple presences in the room, they disturbed him due to their unfamiliarity. He ignored it and even began toulatulate Clare\'s chant. Partly because he wanted to gain brownie points if she opened her eyes and saw him, but mainlyauseause it would keep his mind off the unfamiliar presences which seemed to be surrounding him. He was drifting off as tiredness began to engulf his mind.

\"Use me as your messenger...\"

Suddenly painful white hot flashes filled his vision; Jazm let out a blood curdling scream as he fell back his eyes suddenly open wide with horror as he knocked a small cluster of candles behind him. They\'re faint illanceance perishing underneath his bulk. Clare opened her eyes in alarm upon hearing Jazm scream as she hurried over to him. Instantly the room began to lighten and the presence that had been disturbing Jazm disappeared. Jazm breathed shallowly larelare consoled him, extinguishing the flames and opening up the curtains. The room lightened to reveal its bare simplicity as sunshine filled the room. Jazm was bathed in sweat, which was fast growing cold as he regained his normal breathing patterns once again. After some time, Jazm sat upright as C cud cuddled him.

\"Are you ok? You gave me quite a scare bacere\ere\" Clare enquired, her face filled with worry.

\"Me? Oh yeah couldn\'t be better. I just screamed to add abit xcitxcitement to it all.\" Jazm transpired, as a cheesy grin filled his face.

\"Asshole.\" Clare replied, thumping him hard in the arm. Jazm laughed.

\"So did you feel the \'presence\' of the spirits?\" Jazm enquired mockingly.

\"No. Didn\'t feel a thing, its all abit disappointing, I thought I was onto the real deal, maybe I wasn\'t doing it righ Cla Clare replied morosely.

\"Personally I think you need more candles.\" Jazm teased as he hugged Clare, bringing her towards him. Clare giggled as she met his embrace, their lips meeting one another as their bodies entwined.

Jazm lay in bed staring up at the ceiling. Clare was fast asleep after their vigorous lovemaking session, but sleep didn\'t come as easily to him as it did for her. Thinking back onto what happened earlier during the invocation Jazm shuddered slightly. He did not want to tell Clare, a depressed boyfriend was one thing, but a psychiatrically unstable one was another matter entirely. Plus he did not want her to worry unnecessarily, it was most probably his subconscious mind at work playing ts yes yet again. Clare moved about as she nuzzled into his chest, her warmth radiating out to him. Jazm smiled and wrapped his arm around her, closing his eyes as his mind was finally enveloped with sleep.

Jazm felt hpiripirit soar free of its body and travel across the astral plain, free at last of its physical constraints he travelled at faster than light speeds to an unknown destination. Finally he slowed down and stopped the prickling at the back of his neck sensing a disturbance. A presence. Reeling around, Jazm tried to seek this unknown presence. He heard a whisper that seemed to be radiating from inside his head as it filled his mind, its whr evr eventually drowning out all sound as it chanted over and over again.

\"The sewers belch me up
The heavens spit me

From ethers tragic I am born again
And now I\'m with you now.

The zeppelins rain upon us
The guns of love disastrous
A shadow lies amongst you
To defy the future cast.

For I am the dark one.
The guardian of the south.\"

Jazm clamped his hands over his ears in a vain apt tpt to block out the voice as he demanded out lou
\"
\"Who are you, what do you want from me?\"

The chanting continued but eventually grew softer until there was nothing except painful silence. Jazm demanded out loud again.

\"Who are you, what do you want from me?\"

A thin sinister sounding raspy voice was heard from behind whi whirling around Jazm was confronted with a sizeable abomination. It was at least 12ft tall and 6ft wide covered in black shining armour from head to toe. Its helmet covered the majority of its face with two large horns culminating from the top. Two narrow slits in the helmet provided its point of vision where blood red eyes stared out at him. The points in its body where armour didn\'t cover it thick scales were seen, shiny and black. From behind it Jazm could make out a skeletal looking pair of wings, its edges lined by embers, providing a faint illuminance. In its heavily gloved right hand it held a giant mace, the spiked ball at its end twice the size of the owners hand.

\"I am the guardian of the south Jazm, you have invoked me and now I am a part of you. Our spirits shall soar above the astral plain together as one finally, for I have searched long and hard you.you. We are as one.\"

\"Why me?\" Jazm demanded, feeling somewhat intimidated by the size of this spectre looming above him.

The spectre chuckled softly to itself.
\"All shall be revealed in due time.\"

With that a thin stream of smoke began to encircle the spectre, gradually growing thicker as it encircled his whole body until there was nothing but a thick smoke cloud suspended in place where the spectre had been. With a gust of wind the smoke dissipated leaving Jazm alone once again. He felt a great pull as his spirit soared; back across the astral plains and back to earth into his own body once again.
