----------------------------------------------------------------
After we got back to the station I found that it wasn’t all too easy to walk with something so rigid between my legs. Carter had gotten out before me and opened my door. I could tell he was amused when I tried to stand and stumbled backwards into my seat.
“Would you like me to help you with that?” He asked while smiling widely.
It had only been minutes since he had pounced me in my seat and not being prepared nor used to it, I just didn’t know how to handle my first erection. From the corner of my eye I examined Carter to find that under his officer’s uniform, even if he had one it would have been nearly invisible in his tight clothes.
“With what?” I asked him, my mind still a little foggy. Looking around, I had nothing for him to help me with. I was unbuckled so he couldn’t possibly mean that.
He then leaned down and placed a hand between my legs. His palm lay flat on the seat, just a fraction of an inch away from my…problem. Then he was cheek to cheek with me as he murmured into my ear.
“This…”
His breath still felt hot to me but tickled non the less. I couldn’t help but blush as he did so and he giggled in response.
“It’s amazing how you could seem so ignorant of such things...Yet still so sensitive.” He continued.
I felt his thumb flick up against the side of my inner thigh, causing me to jerk up and way for a split second.
He chuckled and stood upright again. “If you want, we could drive around for a few more minutes till it goes away. Or do you want me to take you some where private so you can handle it yourself?”
“Myself?” I looked up at him. “What do you mean?”
Carter eyed me suspiciously, but then his head dropped to where I couldn’t see his face any more and began laughing uncontrollably. “I-I can’t, I can’t believe you’re honestly serious!”
Blinking, I watched as the man did his best to control himself. I felt a little offended at how he was regarding me. I mean, just because he was a sex fiend didn’t mean I had to be one, nor did I have to know all the tricks of the trade either!
“What’s so funny?” I huffed, then gasped as the cloth of my pants pressed against me in my sudden movement.
It took a while for Carter to calm down before he could talk straight. “I’m sorry. I just had no idea how little you know. I mean, you really must have lived a secluded life not to know what I was referring to when I suggested you take care of it yourself.”
I was getting angry at him now and had to fight the urge to slap him on the head.
“Alright, fun’s over. We’ll just drive around till it’s gone.” He got over himself and closed the door for me.
I rebuckled and eyed him, leaning up against my door in case he attempted to make any other moves.
Luckily he kept his eyes straight and didn’t boggle at me like he had been doing up till now. I don’t know how long it was before he asked if I was fine and by that time it actually had begun to hurt, but I lied and told him to drive for a few more minutes.
When we did make it back to the station I was able to fight it down and get out successfully without showing too much difficulty. Carter continued to open every door for me as I made my way to the lounge room and lay down on the couch. There was another officer, a woman, sleeping in the other so I assumed I was safe from any further attempts.
I easily found my usual quilt and pillow. I felt extremely groggy and exhausted. I don’t know if he was trying to make a move or honestly wishing me good night, but just before I dozed off I felt him slide a finger across my cheek.
…………………………………………………………………………………………………
I avoided that man like a plague for the entire day. I spent my whole morning taking a walk to keep out of the station and spent a few hours hanging around the park where a couple girls my age started up a conversation with me out of the blue. When he brought me Burger King for lunch I wouldn’t eat it and looked the other way. He asked if I wasn’t hungry, but I didn’t respond and continued to stare at the wall. He seemed slightly upset, but I didn’t care and left it untouched.
“Are you made at me because of last night?” He finally asked.
I didn’t answer and left the station for an extra walk, abruptly leaving him sitting there alone.
Carter didn’t say a word when I came in late that evening. He had a sub cut in half waiting for me. I guess he got rid of the Burger King he had tried to get me to eat. Though by this time I was extremely hungry from going all day without food and felt faint.
“Please eat.” He said as I entered the lounge.
I looked at him through tired eyes and stupidly only just realized he had spoken to me.
The scent of food made my belly rumble. Normally, I could go almost two days without even feeling hungry after growing up starving most of the time. But lately I’ve been eating at regular intervals and have grown accustomed to where I’d feel hungry around the times I should be getting food.
Stubbornly I shook my head and sat on the other couch, away from him. I stretched out and cupped my hands together to form a makeshift pillow and closed my eyes. My legs were throbbing angrily at me for walking so much.
I heard him move and shot up in my seat, only to find that he had merely stood to leave the room.
I sighed, glad he wasn’t going to make a big deal, then noticed that he had left the food on the table. I thought about going ninja and eating it quickly, hoping he wouldn’t walk in on me. Eventually, I did. Only, I looked out into the hallway first to make sure no one was there. Then I sat and began gulping it down in huge bites. I didn’t care if I looked like a pig, I was hungry and being polite wasn’t gonna get the food into my stomach any faster.
Someone then stood in the doorway, causing me to nearly choke on my food. Looking up like a child caught taking cookies from a cookie jar, I saw Carter smiling at me.
He didn’t say a word and walked away down the hall to let me finish eating.
What the heck is his deal? I wondered briefly, then continued eating.
Normally I would be expecting it, but this time I had completely forgotten that it was dark out and was surprised to find the shadow creeping into the room. I jumped once it got nearly to my feet and forced down the remaining food in my mouth.
“Don’t do that!” I complained towards it.
The shadow rippled in response and I was reminded of what had happened last night, other than what had
happened with Carter.
“Did you heal Blake?” I asked it.
The shadow churned and grew upwards, forming into it’s alter form. The shadow being then stood before me and shook it’s head.
“Did you have something to do with it?”
It nodded.
“But how?” I wondered, recalling that it had felt as though it had touched my lips before I had returned to the tower, then felt them tingling when I healed Blake.
The shadow being looked at me seemingly confused. Then I remembered that since it didn’t have a mouth it couldn’t do anything more than nod or shake its head. Wait! It doesn’t have a mouth, so what did it touch my lips with then? Its fingers?
“Sorry.” I apologized. “I mean, did you do something to me to make me able to heal him?”
It nodded.
“What exactly did you do then? I know there’s no way I could-“The Unseelie had begun to shake its head suddenly and I stopped. “What? You mean it really was me who did that?”
It nodded.
“But how? I can’t do those kinds of things! You had to of done something! I don’t know, maybe you transferred you’re healing ability into me, or gave me the ability to heal. Either way it’s not like I can do that again…”
The shadow being shook its head.
I didn’t know what to say at that point. If it was true that I had been the one to heal him, then what exactly did that mean?
“How come I couldn’t do something like that before?” I cautiously asked.
Instead of nodding or shaking its head, which wouldn’t have answered my question anyway, it pointed its thumb at itself.
“You made me able to?”
If it had a mouth, I would say it had to of been smiling as it nodded.
I thought things over in my head. I hadn’t been able to do anything like that before, and this Unseelie claims that the reason I can now has something to do with it. But what exactly….
“So…Was I able to do that before I met you, but for some reason didn’t have the ability to use it?”
It nodded.
“Does that mean you helped me do it, without doing something like giving me the ability to?”
It looked at me like I had just asked a stupid question.
“What? How am I supposed to know this stuff! Are you telling me that you’re responsible for awakening some weird power in me like I’m the subject of some sort of anime show who has super powers sealed inside me or something?”
Even I knew that was a stupid question, but the one sided conversation was getting a little weird on me anyways.
For some strange reason the shadow being shrugged at me.
“…You don’t know…” I more stated than asked.
The Unseelie nodded, some what guiltily.
“But how can that be? I mean, you’re the one taking me to Mooncrest each night whether I like it or not. And I still haven’t found out your reason for making me go each night! I mean, It’s not like Blake’s gonna die if I don’t go…” I trailed off in my argument as I recalled being told that Blake considered me to be the most precious thing in his country…But why?
The shadow being stood silently, observing my expressions.
“You’re the one who started this. Aren’t you supposed to have an answer for everything?”
It pointed at me, then back at itself.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked.
The being then hovered towards me and this time pointed at itself, then me.
I tilted my head trying to figure out what it was trying to tell me. “What? Are you saying you are me?”
It shook its head violently and repeated the gesture. I had to mull it over in my mind to figure out another possible reason for why it was doing this.
“Ummmm, you’re connected to me?”
It waved its hand flatly in the air and wavered it, gesturing that I was close.
“So…You’re being here…” I was thinking of what other possibilities there were for this situation. “Has something to do with me?”
Its slit eyes brightened as it nodded.
“So are you here against you’re will, like how I am when you take me to Mooncrest?”
This time its eyes darkened. Naturally, I assumed its answer was yes.
“Then, is the reason you take me to Mooncrest each night against my will because you want to get back at me for being the cause of you’re being here?”
This time the strange being seemed to growl. It was deep and menacing, like the sound a wolf would make in a life or death battle with a rival male. I took a step back and raised my hands.
“Hey now! Look, I don’t know what I’m doing to cause you to be here, so why are you gonna take it out on me? I mean, you take me to another world each night against my will and I’m not holding it against you!”
The growling persisted, and suddenly the shadow being burst and I was enveloped by the dark abyss of its body. Before I knew it, I was back in the tower.
I was shaking in fright at how the creature had responded. It seemed to resent me for something I couldn’t control. But why didn’t it seem to have an answer for whether or not I had some sort of power. Was it possible that I did have a power of some kind that I subconsciously used to summon the Unseelie against its will, there for unintentionally cursing it to take me away each night?
A small gust of warm air distracted me temporarily and I looked out over the balconies. It was another clear and starry night. Walking out to where I could see the sky better, I instantly spotted the Blue Star, which I still suspected to be Earth from a distance.
I was then reminded of my encounter with Chase and instantly wondered what he must have thought of me for disappearing so suddenly on him.
Shaking my head I turned to face the room and realized that once again, no one was here. Now that Blake was better I figured he’d be up here waiting for me as usual. Did he fall ill again? No, it hadn’t been long enough for him to starve again.
The Lyriar loomed at the head of the room, taunting me. Though my life back on Earth was getting a little uncomfortable, I might as well enjoy myself here for the time being. Tomorrow night I’ll attempt to continue my conversation with the Unseelie about how I had anything to do with why it was haunting me.
I enjoyed the music it made as I experimented, having lost the knack for it in my week of musical abstinence. Though after playing a few notes it began to feel familiar to me again and I started playing effortlessly.
I found my self swaying left and right with the music and humming along, trying to think of a song to sing. Once again I failed to think of any words and simply sang in my usual manner. The song started out happy, then I realized that I had to face Carter tomorrow and my voice dropped, changing the song into a more depressing one. I tried to think of ways in which I could make myself feel better…Perhaps I’ll go downstairs after I sing to speak with Fern? Maybe Blake and Chase will be there
Thinking of this I made my song a bit more bouncy. I was enjoying myself and continued to let the notes flow until my throat felt sore and I ended the song.
Playing the last note, I turned to leave half expecting someone to be there, watching me. Yet, I was once again disappointed and ended up leaving the room unaccompanied. Down the stairs and the hall I found Fern’s office. There were the same apprentices sitting outside it and they all eagerly greeted me, telling me of how wonderful my song was tonight.
I nodded at them and did my best to walk around the more eager ones whom attempted to touch me. Making it to the door I knocked.
“Come in.” I heard Fern and entered.
The handsome doctor was standing next to a table with a small furry creature. It appeared to be some sort of furry overgrown salamander. There was another handsome man standing over the doctor’s shoulder and watching his hands intently.
“State you’re business; I’m busy training an apprentice right now and would prefer not to be bothered again later.” Fern stated, not even looking up at me.
He did seem busy. I suppose the small animal had been injured so he must be showing the apprentice how to heal it. I figured it’d be better to leave him be and left the room without even answering. I suppose it could be viewed as rude, but I didn’t want to interrupt.
Back out in the hall I was once again engulfed by the group of admirer. This time I had no where to duck as I had many of them reached out and touched me. I even felt a hand on my backside, causing me to jump and run out of the crowd rather clumsily. I kept going till I was out of sight of those people and well down the hall.
I decided to make sure not to go around people when Blake or Chase wasn’t around to keep their hands off me.
I was curious and began exploring. The tower and Fern’s office were the only place’s I had come to know so far. Perhaps it’d be good for me to go and wander around the town.
Finding the front door I found that the two usual servants who opened them were gone and had to open the heavy doors myself.
The carriage was gone and I got to see the vast expanse of the front lawn spread out in front of me. It took a while to make it to the front gates. They were closed but the bars were far enough apart for me to slip my slim frame through.
I went a ways down the street and looked back to find that it would be extremely hard for me to get lost since the capitol’s tower stood above all the other buildings. If I were to make a wrong turn, I could easily look up and follow it back.
“Hello!” Someone said.
Turning back around it was another handsome man and a beautiful little girl. The man I would have to say was about a year older than me, if not two judging by the fact that he was a head taller. The little girl walking beside him was half my size and I assumed she had to be eight or nine.
“I’ve never seen you around here before.” The man stated. Like everyone else, he and the girl had green eyes. This man’s hair was strawberry blond and short, combed to the side with a single bang hanging down between his eyes. He wore a casual pair of black suit pants and a vest over his blue shirt. The little girl however had long sausage curled strawberry hair that drooped down past her shoulders and down to the middle of her back. She wore a blue bonnet with white laces and had on a frilly little light blue dress that fanned out around her feet.
“I’m not really from here.” I answered cautiously.
The young man smiled. “I can see that. Though I don’t think I recall any place in particular where that fashion is worn.”
“Cumberton.” I answered.
The little girl tilted her head at me and squinted her eyes as though I were out of focus to here. “Brother.” She finally spoke in a soft childlike voice.
“Yes?” The handsome young strawberry blond looked down at her. “Is there something the matter?”
“His voice sounds familiar…”She trailed off, thinking hard.
I smiled. “I don’t see how that could be possible, unless you know someone who sounds like me.”
She continued to stare at me till finally her concentrated face brightened. “Okay.”
“Sorry, she enjoys mysteries.” Her brother answered. “If she thinks she knows something, she’ll probably mull over it all day. Err, night in this case.”
“Right,” Speaking of which, I had a limited time before the sun would rise and the Unseelie would be back to take me home. “Well, I got to get going.”
“You doing something important?”
“No, just exploring.” I answered.
“Mind if we come with you?” The boy suddenly asked.
I looked at him puzzled. “Why would you want to come with me?”
He shrugged. “We couldn’t sleep. Molly here wanted to go outside to hear the phantom singer tonight so I had to come with her. Now that we have, we don’t feel tired.”
“Oh…” Is that what the people in town called me?
“So can we?” The handsome boy walked up and wrapped an arm around my shoulder.
The contact made me jump away from him, leaving the boy startled at my response. “Sorry.” I apologized. “Not really used to being touched.”
“Well that’s odd. Oh well.” He smiled at me. “Come on Molly, let’s show this man around.”
Naturally I should have revolted and told them to leave me alone as they both grabbed an arm and began hauling me downtown, yet I was too surprised that someone would actually treat me this way that I didn’t.
We passed a few more people, most of which would turn to stare at me in admiration. I briefly wondered if these people knew I was their ‘phantom singer’ that sang each night but that question was soon answered when I overheard someone ask what their friend imagined him, err me, to look like.
“By the way,” The boy spoke up, “My name’s Oliver, and this here’s Molly. Nice to meet you.”
We were currently standing near a large statue of a man in armor riding atop a rearing wolf facing a huge bird like creature with horns and a long snake like tail. The bird monster statue had no hind legs and sat coiled in front of the warrior. There was fountain around them shooting water straight up above their heads and landing on the opposite sides.
“Oh, okay.” I answered numbly and held out my hand towards them. “Nice to meet you, hope you guess my name.” I recited off of Steven King’s ‘The Stand”.
The man giggled. “You’re a strange one.”
It was then that I place the accent to be somewhat like English. Not American English, but England English.
“Thanks.” I giggled with them.
“Brother, can we go to the fair?” Molly suddenly asked.
“It’s not open yet. Plus it’s the middle of the night. It wouldn’t be open at this hour unless they were planning on using the phantom singers song as an attraction…Speaking of which.” The boy then turned towards me and I automatically assumed he came to the conclusion that I was the phantom. Then he finished his sentence. “It’s awful late out, what are you doing at this hour?”
“Exploring the town. I’m sort of nocturnal.” I answered.
The handsome boy nodded. “Oh, okay. You gonna be here tomorrow night?”
Like I would have a choice. “Yeah.”
“How about we all go and get a sneak peak at the fair grounds. It most likely won’t be open at this time but we could still see where the attractions will be set.”
I had never been to a fair before and the general idea sounded fun. Maybe if Blake caught me tomorrow I could get him to go too? Then again, it would only be the fair grounds without any actual attractions, and he was a prince. I’m sure he had better things to do.
“Okay.” I agreed. “I wouldn’t mind at all.”
“Great!” The handsome boy patted my back and smiled as I tried to step away from his touch. “Now let’s finish showing you around tonight first!”
