Chapter Nineteen
Disclaimer: Characters in this story are my creation, as is the city of Bannen,(as far as I know, Canada doesn’t have a city named Bannen in it), and the hockey team is fictional as well. California doesn’t have a team named the Demon Dogs, that is my creation. The characters in this story are not based on any specific person, so any similarities are purely coincidental. I do not own any rights to the Stanley Cup, and I don’t make any money off my stories.
---------------
I tried to keep the hockey facts as truthful as possible, so please excuse any slip-ups. While this is a story based on a sports team, it’s not my intention to focus completely on it, but instead on the romantic story. I also don’t bash hockey players in real life, as I’ve met a few and they are lovely people. It just works in my story for now. I was inspired from the recent playoff games, when this plot bunny jumped into my head. Please enjoy.

Chapter Nineteen
Denise put down the telephone, pleased with her work. Although Hilary was now on her ‘team’, she tried her best to keep her as much out of the loop as possible. She had just finalized the plans for the Christmas Banquet, and she had no intention of filling in Hilary at all. Every day that she had been over that week, she had been pining over Graham like a love-sick puppy. It was infuriating, to say the least.
Denise wasn’t jealous. Being jealous meant a lack of trust in her partner. Graham had won her faith early on when she first met him, and she knew that if Hilary were the last woman on earth, Graham still wouldn’t be with her.
It annoyed her because Hilary was bringing down her work, constantly belittling her, and talking day in and day out about Graham. Although Denise loved to hear about anything to do with her boyfriend, she certainly preferred it didn’t come from Hilary’s mouth. Did the woman ever shut up?
“So, when is Graham coming over?” Hilary asked for the umpteenth time. Denise had planned it so that Graham would never be over when she and Hilary had to get together to work on the Christmas social, and she had to hear Hilary bitch and moan everyday about how much she wanted to see Graham. She definitely did not hide the one-sided love affair she was experiencing.
“He’s not coming over. Can we concentrate on the work now?” Denise felt like these sessions were aging her. Pretty soon she would sport deep wrinkles and gray hair. Hilary was such a hassle.
“Uh, yeah, I guess.”
--------------------
“I feel like a babysitter.” Denise groaned, flopping down on Graham’s couch. She had to find some way of getting rid of Hilary. The damn woman was calling her house every half hour with the hopes that Graham would answer the telephone. The only refuge Denise could take was over at his house, where Hilary definitely did not know the number.
Graham laughed good-naturedly, leaning over the back of the couch to plant a quick kiss on her lips. He folded his arms on the back of the sofa, looking down at where Denise was sprawled against the cushions.
“Well, look at it this way. The more work she avoids, the more incentive to get her fired. Bob is a reasonable guy. If this continues much longer, he won’t have her as an assistant events coordinator. Then you are home free.”
“I don’t think it’s that easy.” Denise muttered, throwing an arm dramatically over her eyes. She heard Graham chuckle quietly.
“Oh? How come?”
“She definitely hates me. Now that she knows I’m not lying about you, she’s going to haunt me until she can get the opportunity to rape you.”
“That’s pretty nasty.”
“Tell me about it.”
Graham crawled over the back of the couch, settling himself lightly on top of Denise. He would never grow tired of her soft curves pressed against his tight body. He had waited far too long for a good woman to come into his life. She spread her legs to accommodate him, wrapping them loosely around his waist when he managed to get himself into a comfortable position without crushing her.
“I would never go for her.” He said. Denise kissed him.
“I know. It just pisses me off that she’s trying to get herself in on my happiness.”
“She can’t.”
“She’s trying.”
“Well, she’ll never get this.” Graham said, starting to unbutton Denise’s blouse. She let him take the control of the situation, eager to just lean back and let him make love to her. She had been fairly active with him all week, and she was looking forward to a slow-paced, sensual joining with him. The week had been stressful and tiring, and she doubted she would be able to do a lot with him.
Graham understood this, since he had seen her every day of the week, and noticed that with the days that passed working with Hilary, Denise had become more and more exhausted. While he was craving fast, hard sex (something he had soon found out she shared a great interest in) he knew that it wasn’t the time. He had no issues with going slow and being gentle, and he could tell that with every kiss, and every touch, Denise was slowly unwinding.
With clothes now a memory, they lay together on the couch, naked bodies pressed tightly together. Graham slipped a hand in-between her legs, stroking her moist center. She moaned breathlessly, legs parting in expectation. She did not have to wait long, Graham raising himself onto his elbows, supported by his forearms.
He slowly sunk into her, always taken aback by her exquisite heat and tightness. Her womanhood gripped him tightly as he withdrew, begging to have him thrust into her. He didn’t disappoint. Inhaling deeply, his hips thrust forward, burying himself completely. He groaned quietly, laying a chaste kiss on her lips before setting up a slow, but fulfilling rhythm. It was exactly what Denise needed, and she moaned in approval.
“You always surprise me.” He said, watching her lovely face glow in ecstasy. She smiled lazily, running her fingers through his short, honey-brown hair.
“I’d hate to be predictable.” She said, punctuated by a charming laugh. Only Denise could laugh during sex, her body vibrating against his own. It caused a moan to spill from both their mouths as it increased the pleasure.
“I have to get you to laugh more often.” He joked, panting. Denise smiled, placing small kisses along his jawline. Small talk continued for a short while, until Graham began thrusting into her slightly harder, causing her breasts to jiggle and her body firmly pressed into the sofa cushion. Words turned to moans, which turned to passionate cries as they reached their climax, Denise pushed up against Graham, muscles twitching as she experienced bliss. Graham had wrapped his arms around her waist as he came, holding her body against his own, hips thrusting shallowly into her, milking every last drop.
When the blinding pleasure had passed, they sunk down into the sofa together, wet kisses, the smacking of their lips, and their heavy breathing interrupting the silence.

Amanda lay her head against Neil’s chest, listening to the beating of his strong heart. She liked to do that after they made love, listening to his elevated pulse. She knew she was the sole cause of it, and it pleased her beyond reason. Neil put up with it, because he knew how much it made her happy. He stroked his fingers lightly over her nude back, feeling the muscle and her smooth, soft skin.
When he had reached her head, he ran his fingers through her long, sun-blonde hair. She sat up and kissed him, the gesture filled with love and tenderness. When she pulled away, Neil regarded her, his deep green eyes filled with joy. He had yet to tell his parents that he had fallen in love, but he knew his parents would love Amanda and accept her into his family. She was one of the best things that could have ever happened to him.
“You’ve made me fall for you, and on top of that, you can make me do the most ridiculous things.” He muttered affectionately. Amanda giggled.
“Well, that deal with you and that horrendous costume was pretty funny.”
“Not another word.”
“Aw, come on…” Neil silenced her with a kiss. Looking thoughtful for a minute, he smiled at her playfully.
“Since you seem to be the miracle worker, you know, bringing me all that I could have hoped for, there is one other thing I’d like you to work your magic on.” Neil said, eyes twinkling. Amanda watched him suspiciously.
“What would that be?”
“Sending the Stanley Cup our way.” Neil said, laughing. Amanda pressed herself against him, thinking about the prestigious hockey trophy.
“I guess it means a lot to you guys…”
Neil wrapped his arm around her, drawing her closer. She pulled the blankets up over their bodies, keeping out the chill. He thought about the Stanley Cup, and exactly what it meant to the Bannen Warriors. The club had been around for a good many years, and had yet to win the trophy. They weren’t a bad team – there was just always someone better ahead of them. Winning the Cup could be one of the greatest experiences in their entire lives. They had felt enough heartbreak, being eliminated from the Eastern Conference championships, as well as the Cup finals, far too many times.
Neil desperately hoped that it was their year. Training had been intense. The games had been intense. Although the weren’t winning them all, they were doing very well in the league. However, the Stanley Cup being awarded to their club would mean that they were the best of the best, and it would mean so much to Coach Richards as well.
“Yeah, it means a lot. It would be awesome to win it, but it’s going to take work. Hard work.”
“You can do it.”
“I hope so. God knows we’ve come close a couple of times. Maybe with your magic though…” Neil joked, tickling Amanda. She squealed, pushing him away. Composing herself, she gazed at Neil, a smile on her face.
“Tell you what. Denise and I will work on the magic part, and you guys work on the other, and hopefully the combination of the two will give you the strength and energy to blast through the finals and claim Stanley.” She said, smile wide now. Neil raised an eyebrow.
“What kind of magic are we talking about here?”
“You just had it!”
“Ooohhh, that kind of magic.” He grinned, licking his lips. Amanda gave him a seductive look.
“Now you understand.”
He certainly did. He knew, ever since he and Amanda started dating, he was more lively, on and off the ice. It was easy to tell that Amanda and Denise had become good friends, just as he and Graham were best friends. He could almost pinpoint the exact day Graham had gotten laid, since the superstar forward had come to practice revitalized.
*Funny things happen to you when you least expect it*
Neil pounced on Amanda, ready to experience some of her ‘magic’ yet again.

Bob finished his phone call with the children’s hospital, happy that it was now completely organized. December 15th would come around in a hurry, and since Denise had started working for him, his stress level had gone down. Although the Bannen Warriors were an established club, they were still somewhat lacking in the entertainment portion. A good percentage of their fans were young people, still in elementary and middle schools, so it was important that the mascot was going strong and that the children could meet the players on a pretty regular basis. Autograph signings were getting infrequent, which was sad because only a few years ago, it was a regular thing. The kids loved it, the parents loved it. Hopefully, with the help he was receiving now, they could start to change things around. Especially since it looked like the Bannen Warriors had become one of the strongest teams in the NHL.
Packing in for the night, Bob locked the door to his office and headed out toward the parking lot. Yes, the events had to be aimed at the community if they wanted to draw in people to watch the game. A boost in ticket sales never hurt, and he loved to see the excitement on the children’s faces as they attended the games and got to meet their favourite players. He loved his job.

“Don’t go home.”
“How come?”
“Well, one, I want you to stay, and two, if you go home, Hilary is just going to bug you all night.” Graham said, pushing Denise towards the bedroom. It had been a tiring week, and after making love twice on the couch, both Denise and Graham were beyond exhausted.
“I guess I can’t argue that.” She said, climbing under the covers. Graham followed, switching off the light and wrapping his arms around her.
“No, you can’t. Now sleep. Big day tomorrow with Hilary the bitch, among other things.” Graham reminded her, mumbling sleepily into her shoulder. Denise groaned.
“Thanks for telling me. What about that three hour practice that you have tomorrow, followed by your rigorous exercise regime?” This time Graham groaned, burying his face into her hair.
“Okay. One for one. Now sleep, or else I’m going to have to take a longer nap than usual tomorrow afternoon.”
