AN: Here you Go.
He woke up and all he could see was the ceiling. His neck felt like it was made to stay there. He could not move it at all. As soon as he opened his eyes, he closed them again. The bright light hurt. He shifted his body and groaned in discomfort, alerting to someone who was in his room that he was awake. He heard the quick steps. He risked opening his eyes again, and was looking into Alex’s worried eyes. He tried to talk, but his throat was so dry. The only sound he could make was a croak.
Alex laid his head on Kyle’s forehead. “Shhhh, do not try to talk. Do not even try to move.”
Right at that time, Kyle thought what Alex said was the best advice ever and followed it. He lay perfectly still and closed his eyes again. Where his ribs were located, it was throbbing. He moved his hand slowly and felt the bandage. Just then, the door opened, and Kyle forced his eyes open. He saw a man in a white doctors coat walk in. That answered Kyle’s question about WHERE he was. Now he wanted to know why he was there.
The doctor smiled kindly. “I see our sleepy head is finally awake.”
Kyle tried to nod, but his neck ached. He forced himself to speak, even if it made it feel like his throat was being ripped apart. “Why am I here?”
Alex answered for the unnamed doctor. “You fainted. Thankfully Darren found you relatively quick after you failed to show up at rehearsal. He was so panicked when he saw you that he did not even think about calling 911. He called me instead.”
Kyle’s eyes saddened, remembering how Alex had ignored his calls.
Alex caressed his cheek. “Did you realize you had broken ribs?” Kyle could
not help the guilty look that fell across his face. Alex frowned. “You knew? For how long?”
Kyle tried to stay out of trouble. “It was only a suspicion. I was not positive. The pain was similar to when I broke my leg as a kid.”
“Even if you were not positive, you should have still said something. Your ribs had to have been hurting the whole day.” Kyle stayed silent which angered Alex even more. “Do you know how dangerous that was? It probably got worse throughout the day.”
Kyle shrugged. “So what?” He turned away from Alex’s angry face. “When can I go home?” He ignored Alex’s questioning eyes.
The doctor smiled. “When a family member comes to sign you out.”
Kyle frowned. “My mom works nonstop. She will not be able to come. Is it ok if my brother comes?”
The doctor nodded. “As long as he is over 18.”
Alex interrupted. “He is staying with me right now. Can I sign him out?”
Kyle intercepted before the doctor could answer. “Alex, I had tried to call earlier. I called you once during study hall, and once right before I fainted. I have decided to go back home.”
“You had called me?” Then Alex remembered the call he had missed while he was fucking Steven. He had never looked at his phone. The second call must have been when he was working. He always has his phone off during his shifts. His mind then finally registered what Kyle had said. “What do you mean you are going home?! You can’t.”
Kyle was as aloof as possible. “You have no say. You are not my legal guardian. What I did last night was technically running away.”
“It is not safe for you there!!!”
“SHHHHH!”
The doctor nodded. “Now I am starting to understand. When I was examining you body to make sure nothing else was fractured or broken. I found tears in your anus that looked to be forced entry which is common with rape. I was going to wait until we were alone to discuss the matter, but it seems like your friend here already knows. By the way your friend reacting, someone in your house is raping you.”
“No one is. I am just into rough sex. That is probably how I got torn.”
Alex shook his head. “He’s lying. He told me the exact same lie, before admitting it was not truthful.”
The doctor laid his head on Kyle’s shoulder who winced in slight pain. “If you are in danger, you cannot stay there.”
Alex stood up and loomed over him. “Listen to the doctor. I can take care of you. You will be in good hands.”
Just then Jonathan ran in, panting heavily. Alex stood up protectively in front of Kyle, not sure who this guy was. The doctor simply smiled. “You must be the young man I talked with over the phone.”
“Yes sir.”
Alex still felt suspicious of the guy. “Who are you?”
“Jonathan, that boy that you seem so protective of is my baby brother.”
Alex relaxed at that piece of information. “I’m sorry. I just do not want anything happening to him.”
“What are you afraid of happening?”
Kyle jumped in. “Nothing Jonathan, don’t worry about it. How did you know I was here?”
“The doctor found our house number in you backpack on a notebook and called.. What I do not know is how you got broken ribs?” Kyle got a nervous look on his face. “Did you get into a fight during school?”
“You could technically say that.” Kyle answered vaguely.
“If that is “technically” then what is the whole truth?”
Kyle stayed silent.
Alex meanwhile was starting to get riled up. Jonathan had not even asked Kyle where he was the night before. Did his older brother not care enough to ask? Was Kyle right?
The doctor looked at Jonathan. “Will you be able to sign Kyle out?”
Jonathan nodded. “Of course.”
Jonathan walked out of the room, followed by the doctor. Before the doctor completely exited the room, he turned back to look at Alex. “Maybe you can get him to talk when you are alone.” He left the two to their silence, which did not last long.
Alex was determined to not blow up at Kyle. It would only make the boy even less responsive. “Kyle, let’s just talk without fighting. Is that possible?”
Kyle turned his head away from Alex. “You can talk, but I am going home. Talk your head off, but I am not changing my mind. You have no say.”
Alex took deep breaths. He did not want to yell at Kyle, but the kid was making it really hard. Maybe he could make Kyle see good reasoning. “Kyle, do you deny it being dangerous?”
“No, I do not.”
“And you are willing to stay in constant danger? Tell me why then. Help me understand. You admit it is dangerous, but you say you can’t stay with me. There is obviously something you are holding back.”
Kyle sighed sadly. “I do not want to, but I have no choice.”
Alex threw his hands up into the air in frustration. “Why are you saying you have no choice? You can stay with me. If you are with me, you will have everything you will ever need. I will make sure of it.”
“I can’t!!” He is still facing away from Alex’s anxious face. “Are you mad at me about something?”
Kyle turned back. His eyes were blazing. “I called you today, twice. I was frightened. I needed help, but you did not think enough of me to answer the phone.” Kyle knew that was not true. He was calling Alex to tell him that he was going home. He wanted Alex off his back though, and the best way to accomplish that was to make him feel guilty. In reality, he was a little mad at Alex for not answering his cell.
Alex frowned. “That is bull. You were calling to say you were going home. Do not try to make me feel guilty.”
Kyle knew Alex was smart. He should have realized Alex would not fall for that lame lie. “Ok, maybe I was. But what if it had been a real emergency?”
“It was not though.”
“What were you doing when I call? Was it even important?”
Alex sighed. Alex wished Kyle had not asked that. “The second time I was at work.”
Kyle rolled his eyes. “You are excused for that time. Where were you the first call?”
Alex bit his lip, and then realized he was acting like a sub and that was despicable. “How about…it’s none of you business?” He said in a low voice.
Darren chose to walk in at that point. “You’re using your Dom voice with him now?”
Kyle’s face brightened into a smile when he heard Darren’s voice. “That’s his Dom voice? What does that mean?”
Darren cleared his throat. “If he is talking to a sub, especially one he has sex with, he uses his voice when he wants obedience.”
Kyle was even angrier. “You have no right to use that voice with me. It is none of your business why I am going back home.”
“You are what? You are not going back home to that hell hole!!”
Jonathan had heard that last comment as he was walking back to the hospital room. “You are calling our home a hell hole? You better have a good reason behind that!!!”
Darren was at a loss of words. Alex thought it was time for Jonathan to know the truth though. “There is a good reason behind it. It has to do with the relationship between Kyle and his twin.”
“NO!!!!” Kyle interrupted.
Alex turned back to the boy in the bed. “Either you tell him, or I will. It is the only way I can think of to make sure you do not go home, if you can call it that.”
Kyle looked close to tears. Jonathan was by his side. “What is wrong? Tell me.”
“Can you please leave for a moment? I need to talk to Alex.”
Jonathan was frowning. “What are you not telling me?”
“Just leave, please.”
Kyle spoke so desperately that Jonathan could not refuse. “Ok.”
Kyle turned to Darren. “Make sure he does not eavesdrop.”
Darren smiled cheerfully. “No problem. You can count on me.”
When they left, Kyle remained silent.
Alex was impatient. “I’m waiting. You’re not going to make me forget, so do not even bother trying.”
“I was not hoping you would. I am trying to find the right words.” He paused. “Ok, here it goes. Kyle confronted me in the bathroom during lunch. He knew Darren and I was becoming friends, and accused me of being at his house last night and having sex with him. He said he was going to go after Darren and hurt him. I got him to believe it was not Darren, but would not say it was you. He was still going to go after Darren because he did not know whose house I was actually at. The only way he would let it drop was if I agreed to go home.” Kyle was looking at his hands.
Alex was really touched. “You were trying to protect me?”
“You would have been hurt because you helped me. Eric may look like me, but he is much more physically strong then I am.”
Alex smiled. “I go to the gym 5 days a week, not to mention the fact that I am older. He would not stand a chance.”
Kyle had tears rolling down his cheeks. “I do not want you to get hurt.”
Alex began caressing his cheek, and Kyle leaned into the touch. “It is not your responsibility to make sure I am safe. I want it to be vice versa.”
Kyle looked confused. “But it is not your responsibility either.”
“I know…but I want it to be.”
That was not clearing things up for Kyle. “I do not get—“
Alex interrupted Kyle’s words with a chaste kiss. It was fast and soft, but it left Kyle breathless none the less. “I care for you deeply. I felt something since I first saw you that day in the park, even before I knew your name. Let me take care of you.
