Chapter Eighteen
Kingston rolled off me, pulling the sheet over my body. I hadn’t even thought about it, but he seemed to be thinking for both of us at the moment. I was too focused on Ian standing in the open doorway.
“Ian, I …”
“Oh no, Alexia. You don’t get to talk. It’s my turn to talk.” Ian stepped into the room, face elongated and claws coming out of his hands. “I trusted you after that incident with the vampyre guy. I let you drink my blood. I did nothing but love you. And what do I get in return? You’re fucking a demon half-breed!”
“I can fuck whoever I want, Ian. You’re not the boss of me. You may have loved me, you may have let me drink of you, but did you ever really think about what being with me meant?” I twirled my fingers in the air, making my normal black leather pants, boots, and halter top appear on me. I crawled from the bed and stood by it. “I’m a Dunpeal, half-vampyre. I live off sex and blood. Did you really think that only one guy would work for me?”
There was a disapproving grunt from the bed and I turned to see a hurt look on Kingston’s face. I frowned and looked between him and Ian. They had both expected me to be with just one of them?
“You’re going to have to choose, Alexia, because I’m not sharing you with anyone.” Ian’s words stung as I turned to Kingston, who nodded in agreement.
I shook my head as tears welled in my eyes. “Don’t make me do this. I can’t do this.”
I shoved passed Ian and ran through the living room, grabbing the only set of keys I could find. Jumping onto the motorcycle and taking off, I took off at a screech down the road.
I had no idea where I was going to go. I couldn’t go find Cassi because she was with Harper and he would take Ian’s side. Karma and Mike were still unconscious in the hospital, so they were out. I only had one choice, and I was worried about how welcome I would be where I was heading.
I pulled into a parking lot outside of Exotic trophies and sighed. I was about to walk into a brothel and ask for their boss, looking like a high priced call girl in skin tight black leather. I had to be the stupidest person ever, but I couldn’t use my magick in this neighborhood without getting myself killed, so I was playing it safe.
I slid in the front door of the club/strip joint/brothel and tried not to be seen by anyone, including the vampyre and Lycan dancing topless on stage. I made my way to the bar and smiled at the vampyre that stood behind it, handing out drinks to dumb humans who want a thrill.
“Can I help you, hot stuff? Are you a new girl? I think the boys will get a kick out of you.”
I mentally flinched and shook my head. “I’m not a new girl. I’m Alexia Mooren, and I’m here looking for Andreas.”
The vampyre grew paler, if that was possible, and picked up a phone that had been under the bar. “Mr. Quinlan, ssssomeone to sssee you.” He hung up the phone and went to the other end of the bar, as far from me as he could get.
I sighed as one guy after another hit on me. I refused all politely until one grabbed my halter top and tried to pull it down. I punched him hard and bared my fangs at him, causing him to back away for just a moment. Apparently, it turned him on because he came right back at me, a group of his friends behind him.
I reached into my boot and found it empty. I had left the house without my license, my badge, and my weapons. It was something I never did, but today it was going to be a time I knew Cassi was wrong about not needing them.
I slashed one of the guys across the chest, but the others had surrounded me while my concentration was on him. A guy grabbed each arm and held me as the guy I had slashed started to undo his pants, keen on taking me in the middle of the club with everyone watching.
The guy in front of me had this look of shock on his face before he flew into a wall. I sighed in relief as Andreas grabbed another guy and threw him towards the door. “Let her go and get the Hell out of my club.”
Andreas looked feral with translucent skin and solid sky blue eyes. His fangs came out, letting the two guys who had me know just how serious he was. I didn’t know if it was because of the whole Kingston/Ian thing, but I was seeing Andreas in a way I hadn’t before.
I shook my head, clearing the thoughts, and felt the two guys who had my arms release me. I took Andreas’s outstretched hand and stepped into him, wrapping my arms around his waist. “Are you ok, Alexia?”
I nodded, wrapping my arms tighter around him. “Yes, Andreas, I’m ok.”
He ran his hand over my hair and kissed my forehead gently. “That’s good, baby. I would hate to have to kill these assholes for harming you.”
“That’s ok, Andreas. I would have killed them myself if they had tried anything farther. I was biding my time, but thanks for coming to my rescue. You know I like it when you play hero.”
I felt more than saw the smile on his face and watched as the four guys who had attacked me made a beeline for the door. I also noticed the bartender giving Andreas a weird look, proper considering I was the Grim Reaper to vampyres.
Andreas led me into a back room that turned out to be his office before releasing me from his seemingly loving embrace. He closed the door and locked it before turning back to me.
As soon as his eyes came to my face I burst into tears, sitting on the couch in front of his desk. I put my head in my hands. “I didn’t have anywhere else to go, Andreas. I did something horrible to people I care about and I needed someone to talk to.”
“Shh, Alexia, it’s alright. We’re friends now, right? I’m here for you.” He sat beside me and pulled me into his arms, talking soothingly in Egyptian and gently stroking my hair. “Do you want to tell me about it?”
I shook my head and buried my head in his shoulder. “No, Andreas. I just need someone to be with who won’t judge me. Someone who knows what it’s like to be like me.”
Andreas laughed and smiled. “Well I am definitely that person. I know more than anyone what it’s like to be like you.”
It was in that moment, with the scent of vampyre all around me, that I knew I needed something only a vampyre could give me. I wanted a detached, emotionless relationship, if just for the night.
I took a deep breath and moved back from Andreas, moving so that I was straddling him. “One night, Andreas, that’s all I want. No judgment, no commitment, just this.” I kissed him hard, nicking my tongue on his fangs and letting the blood flow between us.
He pushed me back a little and looked into my eyes. “Ok, Alexia. Just for tonight, I’m yours as more than just a friend. Tomorrow night, we’ll be the best of friends again.”
Andreas moved his hands up my stomach and pulled the halter top over my head, tossing it to the floor. I yanked his button down shirt apart, buttons flying everywhere.
He rolled me and quickly disrobed both me and myself. I found my breath going faster at the speed at which he moved, having never really been with a vampyre, but felt things low in my body tighten.
He crawled on top of me and kissed me as he moved into position between my legs. I returned the kiss and moved my hips up so that I was the one bringing us that last extra step.
With him inside me, I knew that it was too late to stop, even if I wanted to. He moved out of me slowly and I realized that, though he was smaller than Kingston, he had a movement to his hips that years of experience had given him.
I moaned at the movement of his hips. I kissed along his chin and down to his neck, biting deep into his neck. I felt him moan and I took it as a moment to roll him, my mouth still locked on his neck.
I bit harder into his neck and kept moving my hips. I pulled back from him and bared my neck in front of him. It was a great offering for any vampyre to give to another, and if he accepted, we would be bound to each other for centuries.
I felt his hesitation, even as he moaned slightly in pleasure as I ground my hips into his with supernatural strength. I was about to revoke my offer when I felt his lips against my skin and his fangs pierced my neck.
I had never been bitten by a vampyre before, though I had offered myself to Cassi before, and the pain was immediate. It didn’t last long before the pleasure watched over me and the orgasm hit us full force. His teeth went deeper into my neck and I screamed as another orgasm washed through me at the pleasure.
I collapsed on top of him and sighed as his lips moved from my neck to my lips. “Are you alright, Alexia?”
I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder. “Yes, Andreas, I’m wonderful.”
“That’s not what I meant, and you know it. Are you ok with being bound to me for eternity?”
I looked into his eyes and saw the concern there. As well as the love, but it wasn’t love like Kingston or even Ian felt for me. He was my guardian angel. Cassi may be my best friend, but there were some things she couldn’t do for me. Andreas was chosen to be my best friend by the goddess. It was obvious now; I just hoped that Cassi understood.
“I think the goddess has meant for me to be with you. I once read that every vampyre has a soul mate that is meant to be with them forever, but not as lovers, though they often try it. I think you’re my soul mate and meant to be my best friend for eternity.” I kissed him again, though this time it was soft and friendly instead of lusty.
“Does this mean you’re ready to tell me why you came here, Alexia?”
I sighed and nodded. “I guess it’s kind of mandatory now, huh?” He nodded, small smile on his face, and I continued. “I’ve been in love with this demon half-breed since I was six, right? Well I brought him back from Sheol and had sex with him, only to be caught by my current boyfriend. They both expect me to be with only one of them, but I don’t know if I can decide.”
Andreas nodded and wrapped his arms around me, rubbing his hands in circles on my back. “The only thing I can tell you, Alexia, is to search deep inside and think about the one you couldn’t live without.”
I kissed his chin and laid my head on his shoulder, listening to his heart start to beat. He had a point. I needed to think about who I could go without talking to, go without seeing.
The more I thought about it, the more I knew the obvious answer, but I didn’t want to lose the friendship of the other one. I laid in the warmth of Andreas for a moment and thought about how I could keep both of them.
I smiled and sat up, still straddling Andreas. “Oh my gods, Andreas! I have a brilliant idea! I owe you huge!”
I crawled off of him and started to pull my clothes back on. He sat up and watched me as I did it, smiling widely at me. “I think you’ve done enough for me today, Alexia. I’ve always been seen as the scary boss guy. The oldest living vampyre. I didn’t think there were people out there who saw anything else, but you’ve proven me wrong.”
I pulled my halter on and walked over to him and kissed him gently. “You’re the greatest person I’ve ever known, Andreas. Anyone who doesn’t see that can answer to me. You know where I live, just send them my way.”
He smiled and nodded. “Will do, Alexia. Where are you going?”
I turned in the doorway and smiled at him. “I’m going to tell the man I love that I’m his forever, and to put a spell on the other one so that we remain friends.”
“And who have you decided is that man you love?”
I winked at him as I walked out the door. “You’ll just have to wait and see, Andreas. Just wait and see.”
“Ian, I …”
“Oh no, Alexia. You don’t get to talk. It’s my turn to talk.” Ian stepped into the room, face elongated and claws coming out of his hands. “I trusted you after that incident with the vampyre guy.
