Review Responses

Anon: All I can say is, only time will tell. I agree, James does need to just confess, cause I mean really, who in the world believes he's not?
womo: Thanks so much. That's very nice of you.
Bookworm51485: Hope you haven't given me any ideas? *walks away whistling softly.* As for Corrine, I haven't quite figured out if she takes Shay's words to heart or not yet. There really is no telling with anything on this story. ;)
k-girl: Haha, thank you, I will.
Kyo-nezumi: Thank you.
bambi4real: Did you guess it, really? Well good for you then! Oh don't worry, James' marriage will go anything but smoothly.
madlodger: Yes, I went to go see your Golden Nuggets list and I thank you for adding me. You have a good selection of stories on there.
coyo: SSSSSQQQQQUUUUUEEEE!!!!!! Yes, he is! Haha! I enjoy reading your reviews, you are so funny. Sure, you can borrow James. Just as long as you bring him back within the following week. I need him to finish my next chapter with. I'ma definitely try to not keep you waiting too long.
Lina: Thank you!
Chrysler: Good, happy family?.....Yeah, sure....eventually.
Sasurto: Hi, Inoku, see I didn't forget who you are. Thank you for your review and I hope you're feeling better.
MikiyuSado: Thank you and you'll read more of Richie's story here as well as more Bryant and Larry and Dennis.
Myoregon: Well, I'm glad you like my MPREG story. Haha, I'm trying, I'm trying, hopefully you won't have to superglue me in front of the computer! ;)
NeonTokyo: Thank you so much for reviewing.
We_Could_Be_Gone: Thanks for the kind words.

I'm a bit late but only a day from what I said I'd update, so don't hold that against me. This week has been hell, having to write a powerpoint presentation and four poems by monday. All this schooling had better pay off, damn it! Anywho, enjoy the chapter.

Chapter Seventeen

Same Wednesday afternoon

Bryant stopped dead in his tracks from walking down the sidewalk of Plumsfield, halting the stroller he was pushing his grandson in. “Twins?” Shay nodded as he ate the last piece of his chocolate chip cookie. “You’re having twins?”

“Yes.”

“I….Well….Um….”

“You sound just as dumbfounded as I was.” Shay laughed.

Bry chuckled. “Oh boy. You’re gonna have a time on your hands.” Shay shrugged. “Did you find out what kind of twins you’re havin’?”

“Fraternal. A boy and a girl.”

“That’s great, Shay. I’m very happy for you. You and Randy will have a good life together.”

He touched his swollen tummy. “I hope so.”

Bryant smiled. “Just remember…..to…..”

Shay frowned when he noticed his mother had paused mid-sentence. He just left the hospital four months ago, he's not relapsin' already, is he? “Mama? What is it?” He saw Bryant’s eyes were focused on something behind him and he turned around to see what it was. There, across the street, was his father coming out one of Plumsfield’s more posh clothing stores which weren’t that many to start with. In his hands were two red shopping bags. Larry didn’t notice his estranged son and soon-to-be ex-husband standing across the street right off-hand, but once he did, he drew a slight breath.

It had been the first time either former lover had seen the other since Larry brought the divorce papers to Bryant’s hospital over four months ago, and Larry was stunned at the complete turn around Bryant had made physically. His eyes didn’t look lethargic anymore but lustrous and more aware, his once thin and falling off weight now looked more filled out and lean, his skin had been pale but changed to a more healthier glow. In essence, Bryant once again looked like the man he had married all those years ago.

“You’re havin’ a sale next weekend?......Oh, okay! I’ll be back then!” Dennis said cheerfully to the sales clerk as he walked out the store, toting his own four shopping bags. He leaned over giving Larry a kiss on his neck. “Hey suga, you ready to go?” he said to his lover but received no answer. His already short temper quickly heating up, he asked, “Just what the hell are you……” He stopped when he saw Shay and Bryant staring back from across the street. His angry frown changed into an arrogant smirk. Ah, the crazy husband and the whorish son. Dennis checked out Shay’s protruding belly and chuckled. “Hmph, looks like somebody’s back to their old tricks. I figured it wouldn’t take long before he had another bun in the oven. Come on, Larry.” The red-head started to walk off but noticed his lover hadn’t moved. Frowning again, he came back and grabbed his chin. “Larry, what do you keep lookin’ at them for?”

“Ah….Nothin’.”

“Good.” Dennis leaned in and gave Larry a very deep and very passionate kiss on the lips, obviously showing off. “Then lets go home.”

Shay rolled his eyes at the kiss. Fuckin’ skank. “Mama, lets go.” He said, now sick at the scene he witnessed.

Bryant still kept watching, even after Larry and Dennis had walked away. “Alright.” He began to push the stroller again. “Is that the Dennis you were tellin’ me about?”

“Yep. That’s who dad dumped us for.”

“He’s not happy.”

“He looked pretty happy to me.”

“Well, he’s not.”

“And what makes you think that?”

“I know Larry as good as the back of my hand. I see the sadness in his eyes…..on his face.”

“Well good, it’s about damn time he experiences a little heartache. I don’t give a shit how bad he feels. He sent you off to St. Augustine’s, he’s divorcin’ you for that two-bit hooker, and he kicked me and Jack out the house. The dickwad deserves everythin’ that comes his way.”

“That’s enough, Shay.”

“Why? Dad doesn’t love you and he sure as hell never loved me….”

“I said that’s enough!” Shay stopped, now silent. “Listen, I know all the stuff that’s goin’ on with this family already. I know how bad its gotten. But I just want to let you know that your father does love you.”

Shay chuckled. “Pssh, yeah right.”

“When me and Larry first got married, he was the one who pushed to have a baby. I wanted to wait, but he was adamant about it. And when you came, he said that day was the happiest day of his life. The days he was off from work, he’d take you everywhere and it would be so often, I wondered if I would ever get to spend time with you. Deep down, your father still loves you, Shay.”

“……Yeah, then why doesn’t he try to act like he does? Why is he pushin’ us away like this?”

Bryant grabbed his son’s hand and squeezed it comfortingly. “I don’t know, love. I really don’t.”

Wednesday evening

“I’m home!” Randy yelled out as he walked through the door from a long day of work at the clinic. He spotted Bryant come out from the kitchen with a finger to his lips, then he pointed in the direction of the family room. Randy walked by and saw Shay was stretched out on the couch fast asleep. Smiling, he kneeled before Shay and touched his cheek before he kissed his forehead. Leaving him to rest, the blonde walked into the kitchen where Bryant was at the refrigerator, holding Jack’s sipper cup. The boy was standing between his legs, pointing out which drink he wanted.

“Dat one.” The boy said pointing.

“Sweetie, that’s beer. You cant have that.”

“Oh. I wa dat then.”

“You want grape juice?”

“Yea.”

“Ok, well go sit down and I’ll bring it to you.” Jack started to run to a chair but made a sharp right turn when he saw Randy come in.

“Daddy!”

Randy picked up the toddler and smiled at him. “Hey there, kiddo.” Bryant came over to them and handed Jack his cup.

“Things go well at work?” Bryant asked.

Randy nodded. “Not bad. A little slow though. Shay been asleep long?”

“Maybe an hour now.” He sat down at the kitchen table. “I took over cookin’ for him.” He noticed the arched brow Randy gave him and smiled. “Shay already fixed dinner, I’m just checkin’ on it in the oven every now and then, relax.”

Randy laughed as he sat down next to Bryant. “Okay.”

“Listen, I didn’t get a chance to personally thank you for agreein’ to let me stay here. You didn’t have to do that.”

“I know. But I wanted to. Shay knew you weren’t happy there in that hospital and in turn that made him not happy either. I thought the least I could do was let you crash here. Somebody needs some happiness around here.”

Bryant caught on to the comment Randy made. “You and James still not talkin’?”

The blonde adjusted Jack on his lap. “Nope.”

“Do you think you ever will? Atleast just to get the situation out in the open.”

“I don’t think so. Not now, anyway. My new feelings towards James are still a bit raw, so I’m worried I’ll snap again if I see him too soon.”

Bryant nodded. “So what about James and his husband? I remember you tellin’ me he found out about Jack.”

“Richie? He called me a couple days ago. He’s staying at home but he kicked James out the house until he can figure out what he’s gonna do. They’ve been sharing the kids.”

“I’m sure this is hard on him.”

Randy nodded. “I’m sure it is.”

Same time, different place

“Tristan, Katie! Come down for dinner!” Richie called from the kitchen as he grabbed the roast beef out from the oven and set it on the kitchen table next to the bowl of mashed potatoes and gravy. Sabrina sat in her high chair with her own bowl of spaghetti and meatballs. So far, her smooth little face was still partially pristine from any sauce but the evening was still young.

“Oh good, cause I’m hungry!” Katie yelled as she raced to a chair. Her older brother followed a couple paces behind, looking down and very forlorn. His demeanor didn’t go unnoticed by Richie. He saw that over the past four months since the Big Fight, that his son’s attitude was getting more and more quiet. It was obvious Richie and James’ rift with each other was effecting him.

The family sat down and ate together. What would’ve been a very quiet dinner, changed quickly when Katie started talking about her day at school. “….And because I did so well in class, Mrs. Wallace let me be her little helper today! I helped her pass out the story books and our food for snack time, I helped her wash the board, I got to be first in our show-and-tell, I got an extra ice-cream cup, I got to feed Mr. Whiskers his hamster food, I—“

“Would you shut up, Katie!” Tristan snapped. The five year old looked at her brother, shocked. Richie threw a sharp look at his son.

“Tristan, don’t tell your sister to shut up again.”

“Why?! She’s bein’ annoyin’!”

“And you’re bein’ rude, so you’re both even.”

Tristan slammed his silverware down and pushed his plate away. “This house is crazy!”

“What are you talkin’ about?”

“I’m not stupid, Mama! I know what’s goin’ on around here! You and daddy hate each other and you’re both dumpin’ us off between here and his hotel almost everyday! Things have gone nuts here and you’re tryin’ to act like nothin’s wrong!”

Katie looked puzzled. Richie knew because of Tristan’s age, he’d guess that things were not well with he and James, but he had no intentions of telling Katie what was going on between them. So far he had been able to tell her that daddy was at the hotel so he could get better rest……and it had worked…..until that moment.

“Somethin’s wrong with you and Daddy?” Katie asked Richie.

“No, sweetheart. Me and your daddy are fine.”

“Stop lying to her!” Tristan said. He looked to his sister. “Don’t believe that, Katie…”

“Be quiet, Tristan.” Richie warned.

“…Mama got pissed at Daddy for somethin’, now he kicked him out. So because of him, our Daddy’s never comin’ home…”

Richie slammed his fist down on the table. “Damn it, I said shut your mouth!”

Tears started to form in the boy’s eyes and he stood up. “It’s true! It’s true! Admit it! You threw Daddy out and now he’ll never come back! You ruined everythin’, Mama! Everythin’! I want Daddy back home!”

“He can’t come back now!”

“Why?! Just call him and tell him!”

“Tristan—“

“No! Bring Daddy back!”

“I said he’s not comin’ back now! I know you hate it and I’m sorry, but that’s just the way it’s gonna be! What else do you want me to say?!”

Richie saw his son was hurting. He sighed then tried to reach over and touch him, but the boy jumped back. “No! I hate you!........Just leave me alone.” Tristan was in a river of uncontrollable tears before he finally ran back upstairs to his room, slamming the door loudly.

That night

Larry laid in bed in the room he once shared with Bryant. It was his first night off from work in a long time and he wanted to spend atleast one night canoodling his lover. Since hooking up with Dennis and letting him move in, he finally realized just how…..expensive the red-head was. His demands for this type of furniture, this type of jewelry, and this type of clothing, was almost unbearable. Larry had no choice but to work overtime at the mine to “make him happy”. Larry turned to his side and looked at the empty space next to him. I work my ass off to get him what he wants, the least he could do would be to give me a little intimacy. I’ve been runnin’ on empty for months now. What the hell is goin’ on?

Kicking back the sheets, Larry left the bedroom and walked down the hallway in search of Dennis. It didn’t take him long to finally hear light murmurs coming from what was once Shay’s room. Larry didn’t open it, but he pressed his ear against the door.

“Haha, you are so silly..……Yeah I know, but I’ve got somethin’ goin’ on right now………Don’t be stupid, Chris, you aint goin’ nowhere…………Because I said so………..Haha, shut up. So what are you gettin’ into?.........You are not funny.”

Larry stepped back from the door. Who could he be talkin’ to at 12:30 at night?
