I Never
In the hotel room, gathered on and around one king size bed were ten little Indians, either looking smug or distressed or angry. All of them wore their fancy clothing that they had had on earlier that evening, along with a collection of other baubles they found during their scavenger hunt to make them even more dressed.
“This is a game of ‘I Never,’” Link announced to his captive audience. “A person starts off by saying, ‘I never,’ then finishes it with a statement. If it is true about you, you must remove an article of clothing. If it is untrue, you will just watch the others. The first person with their clothes off is the slave to the person who made them remove their clothes, all of the way down the line till the last person is dressed.”
“Why the whole slave business?” Yuna asked smarmily. “Why not just get undressed and then do some horrid deed right here and now?”
“Don’t you think that’s pushing it?” Bliss snapped. “We are all very much mostly related to one another in some way, we don’t need to be doing evil deeds. I have a better idea. The person who has to undress must tell the person who got their last article of clothing a secret about themselves that no one else knows.”
“Bad idea,” Tiera cut in. “We are pretty much finding out horrid secrets anyway.”
“Why not just the satisfaction of having that person completely naked?” Darrke asked in a sigh. “Let’s just get this over with. I can’t believe I agreed to play this nasty game anyway. I don’t want to see my sisters naked, or my brother for that matter.”
“Oh, because we are looking forward to you undressed,” Harmony snapped.
“Maybe this was not such a good idea,” Rhapsody said, beginning to stand from the bed, wrapped in a men’s tuxedo jacket that she had found on her way towards the hotel room and snatched, though it was not on her list of things to find. “Most of us do not agree much on anything anyway.”
“Let’s just do this,” Waza said. “We are all complaining all we do is argue, well now with our secrets bared maybe we’ll start to get along again.”
“Here, we will even start with something easy,” Link smiled. “I never, failed a test.”
Seven people in the room had to remove an article of clothing and discard it upon the floor. Rhapsody, Link, and Waza were the only ones who did not need to move a muscle.
“That’s not really fair,” Yuna snapped. “Fine, I never, kissed a girl.”
Waza, Shu, and Link all removed an article of clothing. Everyone was left staring at Darrke and Sora, who both just shrugged it off.
“I never, had sex,” Bliss said, knowing very well that Yuna had lost her virginity to the chess club. Off came the articles of clothing from Yuna, Waza, Harmony, and to more people’s surprises Tiera and Rhapsody.
“Who?” Bliss asked Rhapsody in shock, worried for the girl who had only turned fourteen a few hours ago.
“You can’t ask questions,” Link corrected. “You must use I Never to find your answers.”
“Doesn’t anyone else find it wrong that the majority of sexually active teens in this room are girls?” Darrke asked, glancing over at his sister and cousin.
“I never got high,” Rhapsody snapped out, angered by the accusing looks. She was too quiet to quit playing, and she wanted her cousins and her parent’s friends as friends, but was this the right price to pay for it?
“That’s unfair,” Shu said, removing another article of clothing along with Harmony, Bliss, Waza, Darrke, Sora, and Yuna.
“Everything’s fair,” Waza pointed out, though he was feeling a bit naked at this point, though he was still wearing enough clothes to keep him covered, since so far he had only taken off two shoes and his socks. “I never kept a dark secret I didn’t want anyone else to know.” No one kept an article of clothing that time.
“I never kept quiet when I wanted to scream,” Shu muttered to the room, and Sora seemed to know exactly what he meant.
Rhapsody, Bliss, Harmony, Tiera, Yuna, Shu, Sora, Link, and Darrke all removed an article of clothing. Waza was starting to feel cool again.
“I never got turned on watching someone I love have sex with someone else,” Sora snapped back, aiming his anger directly at Shu. Shu and Sora both had to remove and article of clothing, and this aimed a lot of anger in their direction, mostly from the two women they were supposedly in love with, and one of them was still a virgin. Bliss shifted, her eyes narrowing on Shu.
“I never lied about loving someone,” Bliss snapped it out, her eyes never leaving Shu’s face. Shu, however, was not one of the ones to remove his clothing. Waza, however, did. Bliss did not notice Waza’s clothes come off, she was watching Shu intently. “Liar,” she snapped at him.
“Bliss, don’t do this now,” he said, sighing.
“You said…”
Shu was shaking his head and stated, flatly, “I never said I did.”
Yuna, sniffy and huffy as always, snapped, smiling, “I never kissed my brother.”
Bliss glared at her, crossed her arms over her chest, and did not move a muscle. If Shu was going to get technical with her, she would be technical with Yuna. Shu was not really her brother.
“You were adopted by them,” Yuna snapped, “so whether it is blood or not, you are still brother and sister.”
“Fine,” Bliss snapped and threw off the garter around her thigh. Rhapsody slowly slid off her hair clip and dropped it to the bed. Everyone stared at her. Of course, a few in the room already knew the truth.
“This is getting us nowhere,” Darrke said. “I think maybe we were right earlier and we-”
“I never fucked my brother,” Harmony cried out towards Rhapsody, her hatred and angered all balled up and aimed at the one girl, with only her dress as her article of clothing left. Underneath she had nothing for the underwear she had worn was still on Devilin’s floor in his office, though they did not know that. Rhapsody hung her head and reached up.
“Enough!” Darrke screamed, pushing his sister aside. “This was fucked up, why in the world did we do this? So we could sit here and accuse each other? We aren’t trying to get closer again, we are trying to drive a wedge between everyone.”
Rhapsody was crying, Bliss was sulking, Tiera was comforting Rhapsody, Sora and Shu were feeling helpless, Waza was smug, Yuna was bristling, and Harmony looked ready to tear Rhapsody’s hair out.
“Come on,” Tiera said to Rhapsody, gathering her friend in her arms. “You don’t have to say anything to these people. Let’s go.”
“Traitor,” Yuna sneered at her sister.
“Go to Hell, Whore,” Bliss snapped back. “Don’t pick on Rhapsody.”
“Whose side are you on?” Harmony sneered back.
Rhapsody and Tiera left the room and for the rest of her fourteenth birthday Rhapsody and Tiera curled up in another hotel room, bought off by Amatsu and Fuji’s name alone, and just did what best friends did and cried together.
