The last thing Bebe remembered was the red hot fire whipping at her face; the surprised looks from the on goers in the truck. It made her smile in some sick, sad way. The road made itself known, tearing into her shoulder once, throwing Bebe into a roll. From the burning wreck flew a sheet of metal. Not here...not here... she thought, sighting the sheet between thrashing rolls. The wreckage disobeyed her, flipping and scooping Bebe up, knocking the bomber unconscious. The faint sound of her own breath was heard, before everything turned black.
It all seemed like a bad dream, pain flashing from time to time inside of it. She remembered some cloaked voices, and movement, just ever so slightly. Pain came in ongoing flashes; she slipped back asleep.
She was suddenly awoken by the roar of the truck's engine, accelerating at a pitched angle. When a tire suddenly popped out from behind the truck, followed by some sparks; Bebe slowly sighed. Some bullshit driving, no doubt. The bomber noticed the man with the gauntlet...errr... Leo... Looking through the window on the other side of the motorcycle. If he wasn't driving....
"YEEE HAW!" A voice yelled, followed by a female response.
"Dammit! You're gonna get us killed!"
Bebe wondered what exactly was going on, but noticed the boxes beginning to move about. As did she. Everything tumbled as if in a washing machine, boxes falling out the back, churning inside, attacking the few living beings existing. Leo was tossed in with them, his eyes opening in mid motion as he was tossed, followed by boxes. The box of empty Uzi's caught Bebe's eyes, as it slammed into her. Once more, she forcefully fell asleep, grumbling under her breath about crappy driving.
~~~~~~
"Maybe i should check her wounds"
"I told you No!"
"The damn things are bleeding through. I'll just change them"
"What part of 'No' didn't you understand?"
Bebe felt the skirt begin to crawl up her leg, inching ever so slowly. The dialogue had brought her around again; anger tightened her stomach into a knot. Son of a bitch never learned.... she'd take the whole ear off this time...
The bomber's blue eyes flared open, gritting her teeth to the sight of the man looking back at Akane, who muttered into the truck with dismay. He waited for her to turn her head, bringing himself closer and closer to Bebe. She growled quickly, bringing the least damaged leg to kick Sean across the face with one quick hit. He fell over, surprised that the pyro had woken up so quickly. Bebe dove into her pockets where the 629 had been, finding it empty. The trench coat wasn't even on her...
"Ah, you're awake" Akane said with a satisfying grin, watching Sean pick himself off the ground. Bebe folded her legs under her, ignoring the shooting pain to preserve her dignity. The two palms held onto the ground, as it swooned in an evening light. She was dizzy as fuck.
"What...the hell's wrong with you? And where's my gun?" Bebe said slowly, spitting out the dust she had inhaled a while ago. It was gritty and tacky in her mouth.
"This?" Sean said, taking the gun from his pocket, "I ain't letting you shoot me anymore"
"You deserve to be shot, flipping a truck like that" She closed one eye in pain.
"You were awake?"
"Just long enough to be tumbled dry. What the fuck possessed you to do that anyways?!"
"It was twenty bucks! You gonna pass up a twenty like that?"
" A twenty?" She grumbled under her breath, "Fucking tard"
She attempted to get to her feet, slowly gathering each foot beneath her to stand up. No use. The bomber slipped back down, irritated by the gun, the truck, and the Sean.
"You're going to have to take it easy, Bebe. If SOMEONE hadn't flipped the truck, then you'd still be stitched up. Leo did a good job on you."
Bebe yelped, knowing where said wounds were. The bomber eyed Sean.
"Gimmie that back!" she said, snatching her 629 from him, "How did you roll a two ton truck like that anyways"
"He jumped over a Dodge Omni"
"You.... jumped... the military truck....over the Omni..." Bebe growled, then stopped, "And how did the Omni fare?"
Both gave different glances. Akane's was pained and sorry. Sean's was reckless and wild. The bomber sighed, laying back down to the ground, rolling her eyes.
"Forget it. Where's Leo anyways?"
Akane pointed behind Bebe, to the man sleeping against a tree. He had numerous cuts over his body. She let out a loose, pained breath, staring away from the two.
"You're a pain in the ass. Who tries to jump a truck this size over anything? Now we have no ride, no money, and boxes full of shit that we can't carry. Good going."
There was a tickle on Bebe's leg again,something brushing up against her skirt. Her head whipped around, catching Akane's incredibly annoyed look, her hand braced on the hilt of the Katana. The blue eyes moved to Sean, who was using a tree branch to poke up at Bebe's skirt.
She had her hand on the 629, ready to take off most of his ear this time. Sick fuck never learned...
WHAP! The sheath of Akane's Katana smacked Sean over the head, knocking him out. She gave a cruel smile as she did it, like she'd been wanting to take him down forever.
"Thanks. I would've shot him if I was faster." Bebe snickered, coughing as she did. There was a stirring behind her, as Leo shifted awake.
"What happened here?" Leo asked, the shock evident in the odd tone of his voice.
"Jackass here decided to play Dukes of Hazzard and jump over cars," Bebe said, cocking her thumb at Sean, picking himself off the ground once more.
The four argued for a while, all growing silent as they decided to tackle the road the next day. Bebe was in horrible shape, partially stitched up wounds that re-opened every time she moved slightly. She eventually stumbled over to the truck, digging around until she found her trench coat, pinned between boxes. There was ammo left in the pockets thankfully, since a box of .44 rounds was hard to come by in a truck of military weaponry. Bebe took the jacket back close to the fire, swinging it on as she watched the mesmerizing flames. It brought a shiver down her spine, reminding her of the explosion. She fell asleep close to the fire, snuggling up to the warmth. Stabs was farther behind her, stretching out. Akane slept close to the over turned truck, Leo sleeping on the other side of the fire. This was far better then sleeping on her own like she had been used to. Bebe fell asleep quickly.
"I was following the trail of the dirty double-crossing bastard who blew up my Jeep." The bomber stirred to the sound of the voice, closing both eyes as the wave of pain washed over her. Blew... up...a jeep... She thought groggily, eyes bogged open as soon as she realized. She wasn't in any mood to fight, verbally or physically. The bomber kept her head low, sinking it into her shoulders and pretending to still be asleep.
"Why don't you ask Sleeping Beauty over there? She would pull that kind of thing." Bebe growled after Sean had said it, promising herself to get back at him later for it. There was a few seconds of silence before the steps came closer, standing over her.
"DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD IT IS TO SAVE UP FOR A CAR?..." The woman yelled, throwing a tantrum on Bebe's arm. She cringed as the woman punched her, noting this was the side she had landed while on the road. But....there was something familiar about this voice. No matter now. Bebe took the punishment, which stopped about five seconds after it started.
"HEY, LET ME GO!" she said, as someone must've grabbed her arm to stop.
""Do you know how much of a beating she went through tonight? At least wait to seek revenge until she heals a little."
"That didn't stop you..." Bebe hissed, attempting to look over her shoulder without the assailant noticing. She saw the swirl of black hair. Nah, couldn't be.
"You're right! But what she did was so awful!" Bebe gasped, sitting up completely. The teen turned to look back at her car-bomber, noticing Bebe; just as Bebe noticed Mercedes. The younger teen beat her to it.
"HOLY SHIT! IS THAT YOU BEBE?!" The teen let out, a smile slowly replacing her sorrow for her lost car. Bebe only gaped, noticing how the entire group had turned to watch their reunion.
"Mercedes....haven't seen you in a long time" She said, struggling to sit up.
"So you bombed my car." Mercedes paused, "YOU BOMBED MY CAR?!" her shrill voice let out, making Bebe grin.
"Hey... I wasn't the only one who did it. Stabs here took out your tires before I blew it up" Bebe pointed at Sean, who coughed on his last drag. Mercedes squinted at him from the side, before returning to the conversation with the bomber.
"Holy Jesus! What happened to your legs?" She asked.
"I was shot. Twice" Bebe slowly showed her bandages; the fresh blood that had started to bleed through again.
"She gets a peek, and i nearly get shot!?" Sean yelled angrily.
"You deserve to get shot!" Akane interjected, as Leo took a look inside his wallet.
"Did someone steal forty dollars from me?"
The campground grew silent as everyone stared at Sean, who looked away with the cigarette on his lips.
"What?" He shrugged off, giving a look like he hadn't done anything wrong.
~~~~~~
"So you two know each other?" Leo broke the silence, as Mercedes took a seat by the fire, warming her hands.
"Yep! We've known each other from...."
Bebe slapped her hand over Mercedes's mouth, stopping the energetic teen from speaking anymore. When this received looks of curiosity, Bebe nudged Mercedes in the ribs, staring her down not to say where they had met. The black hair girl lowered her head into her shoulders.
"So... Where was that again?" Sean piped up, sensing there may be further then just secrecy.
"Yeah, spill" Akane egged on, making poor Mercedes look at Bebe.
"What's so wrong about..."
"Don't say it!" Bebe hissed, cutting off the short sentence. After peering around the circle that this was gonna come out regardless, Bebe mimicked Mercedes's previous action, staring at the ground.
"We met four years ago.... in a....sewing class" She grumbled under her breath.
"What did you say?" said Leo.
"WE MET IN A DAMN SEWING CLASS!" Bebe yelled, coughing after her outbreak. The reaction was not instantaneous. For about two straight seconds, nobody said a thing. But laughter burst forth, cracking under the tense situation. Sean was the first, followed by Akane, with Leo trailing the end. Mercedes began to laugh too, from watching all the others do so. Bebe put her head down, grumbling. After about two minutes, everyone was calm enough to listen again.
"We met in a sewing class. LONG time ago" Mercedes began, picking up since the bomber was too embarrassed to continue; she let occasional giggles escape once in a while, "She didn't like sewing what the teacher asked do to: you know, purses, pillows, and the occasional scrunchie. No, she liked making gun holsters and trench coats. I was sitting close to her, and I would compliment her fine handiwork. She would drag me along with her to the hallways, telling the teacher that I needed to find the washroom, that she could help with leading me there.. We ditched class together. I mean, purses are cute and all...but isn't there such thing as having too many scrunchies? They're sooo nineties!" The group appeared to be losing interest in what the girl was babbling about; it seemed to be getting into small talk. Bebe rolled her eyes.
"Okay, Annnyways...Bebe told me all about ICAF and said it would be a great place to join," Mercedes said matter-of-factly. Akane rolled her eyes this time.
"Way to go Bomber; way to brainwash the minds of the youth even more."
"Shut up," Bebe snapped, "It wasn't brainwashing. Let her finish her damn story."
"So I took that into consideration but put that on the back burner of priorities for a while. Still had to wait until school was out for the summer before going to any sort of late night meeting. I actually just got out of my first one about two days ago. Man, I don't know about you, but those people there sure have some 'interesting' leaders, for lack of a better term. I left a little early and badmouthed one of the leaders...gosh I don't remember her name...but people got all riled up and I ended up back outside and no longer allowed to attend the meetings. Since then I've been walking around looking stupidly at the broken doll things,"
"Kumas," Leo corrected her.
"Yeah, Kumaaaaaaaahs. Also I've been in pursuit of the douche bag," Mercedes smiled sweetly at Bebe, "who messed with my car. And that's my life up until now. Ta da!"
Nobody seemed to be impressed. Bebe threw the stick into the fire, it's tip burning close to her clenched fist.
"You two haven't seen each other since then?"
"Nope, Bebe disappeared"
The group looked to the injured Bebe for an explanation. She sighed, knowing their gazes were upon her. She wasn't in the mood for talking. Or explaining herself.
"I got wrapped up with Icaf since I was... their lieutenant commander"
"Their lieutenant commander was you!?" Someone said; Bebe didn't raise her head to look. She was so ashamed to be drawn in, conned, and tossed about like that. There wasn't much more to the title. She knew Ncolski very well, but hadn't wanted to say so. It would rise eyebrows, cause a commotion. "Could she be trusted?' they'd say. So she shut up about it.
"Yeah. Pretty much.----What?" The bomber was growing annoyed with all their faces. There were so many emotions swirling at the same time, Bebe wasn't in the mood to deal with it now. She turned away from the fire, shifting herself on the side that didn't hurt.
"It's late, I'm getting some sleep before we figure how to keep going tomarrow. The damn moped won't hold us all. So good night" Bebe heard some shifting behind her, everyone beginning to settle down. The bomber felt horrible, not only from the wound, but from her past as well.
"Good night comrade" Sean said, turning away from the fire. Bebe tightened her eyes to the world, falling asleep after a moment or two.
