Chapter 18

My cell phone rang and I immediately knew who it was. I sat up on the edge of the bed and tried to calm myself before answering. “Hello?”

“Hey honey, how ya doing?”

“Been better. I’m ready to come home.”

“I bet you are. What time is your plane leaving?’

I glanced at the clock. “In a few hours. I’d better start packing.”

“You didn’t pack last night?”

The question stunned me for a second. “Well, I was upset about my parents last night and I downed a few beers at the bar down the block.”

He chuckled. “Well, I’ll let you go so you can get packed.”

“Okay. Hey, Dicky? I love you.”

“I love you too, babe. See you soon.” We hung up.

I walked into the shower and with the water set on hell, I scrubbed my body over four times. My skin was tender and red by the time I stepped out. But even after all the bathing, the stench of fornication was still on me. During all this, I was silently crying. This whole ordeal was definitely something I knew I couldn’t hide from Dicky, even if I tried. If I didn’t tell him, I would be depressed until I did. Just finding out when was the right time to tell him, was the question. Then again, is there a right time to tell your husband of your infidelity?

After a long, quiet, flight, I finally made it back home. I took a cab back to my home and opened the front door. When I looked up from shutting the door, I saw my husband standing in the hall looking at me with this beautiful smile on his face. It wasn’t sexual or anything like that, just a simple smile. I didn’t deserve this man. “Welcome home, love.” He kissed me then wrapped his arms around me. At one point, he lifted me off the floor and twirled me in a circle, before setting me down.

“Where’s the Goof Troop?”

“Surprisingly, they are both in their rooms asleep. You look like you could use a few winks yourself.” He placed a hand on my face. “You feeling okay?”

I half smiled. “Yeah. I’m just tired. I’m going to go up to bed.”

“Want me to join you?”

“If you want.”

“Alright.” He scooped me in his arms and carried me upstairs to our room. He sat me on the edge of the bed, removed my jacket, tie, shoes and socks, and laid me back on the bed. He laid above me and I pulled the hem of his black fitted t-shirt over his head and pulled his belt through his jean loops, and watched as his loose jeans slid down his waist and rest VERY low on his hips. We laid there hugged up together kissing.

I don’t know what happened. All of a sudden, that didn’t seem to be enough for Dicky. He wanted more, I could tell it. With an extreme amount of urgency, he pulled off my pants, opened my shirt, pushed his jeans down with one hand, and with a quick swipe of lubricant, entered me slowly. When I was completely filled, Dicky sighed. “I’ve missed you so much.” He whispered in my ear.

I grabbed the headboard, panting and shaking, when he started to slowly thrust his pelvis in and out of me. “Richard....” I whispered. Dicky started to kiss me along my neck and jawline. As he sucked on my neck, he rolled his hips into me with long strokes that made his hips smack into my inner thighs. But pretty soon that wasn’t satisfying, because I started writhing and squirming. Dicky soon took the hint and with one forearm wrapped around my lower waist and the other hand laying flat on the bed for balance, he lifted my hips to collide with his accelerated pumping waist.

My blood started pumping faster, collecting in my groin. “Oh, God! Oh! Oh!” I moaned as my orgasm drew near. Dicky laid his head in the crook of my neck and went faster.

“Come on, baby.” He whispered in my ear, pushing me to orgasm. He lowered his body back down on mine and started to jerk me off. I arched my back and shuddered a climax. Dicky wasn’t far behind, shuddering his own. When we were both left panting and sweating, Dicky rolled off me and laid on his side. “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to pounce on you like that. I guess I missed you more than I thought.” He chuckled. I just grinned. *I gotta tell him.*

Later that day, the kids finally woke up and welcomed me home. As usual, Sofia asked for the gifts, so I gave them both I Love New York t-shirts and different little pieces of jewelry. After they all scattered the house doing whatever they like to do on Saturdays, I sat in the kitchen and called Bernard. “What’s up, Drew? How was NYC?”

“Shit all way round.” I sighed.

“You all right?”

“No. Bernie, I fucked up big time.”

“What do you mean? What happened?”

I checked around me to see if anyone was around. I looked out the window and saw the family playing outside. “I met up with a guy I used to date and.......I mean, I tried to tell him ‘no, leave me alone’ all week, but he kept pressuring me. He.......caught me off guard one night when I got really drunk and we had sex.”

“You what?!”

“I didn’t mean for it to happen.”

“You what?!”

“Bernie?”

“I’m sorry. You just shocked me. I can’t believe you had sex with another man. Drew, it wasn’t like you were lacking at home. Have you noticed the hunk of man meat your husband is?”

“I know. I know.” I put my face in my free hand and sighed as I knew tears were coming. “I didn’t mean for this to happen, Bernie. I swear, I didn’t.”

“I believe you. So what are you going to do?”

“I’m gonna tell him the truth.”

“What?”

“Before me and Dicky got married, we promised one another we’d always be honest with each other in everything. I just hope he remembers that promise when I tell him today.”

“You’re gonna do it today?”

“If I put it off, it will drive me crazy.”

Bernie was silent for a while. “Well, me and Francis will take the kids out, so you two can have some privacy.”

“Thanks Bernie.”

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. I was planning on spending my day relaxing. You’re lucky I love you.”

“I know.” I smiled. “I love you too.” We hung up. Bernie and Francis would be on his way soon, so I had to try to get my words together.

************

They came in the afternoon and took the kids out for a while. Ice-cream, I think they said. That just left me and Dicky. He was just coming down the stairs, dressed in red shorts and black tank, when I caught him at the door. “Dicky?” He stopped and looked at me. “Where are you going?”

“To the gym. Like I do every Saturday.” He chuckled. I had never felt more nervous in all my life.

“C-Could you not......could you not go today?” He saw my nervousness and he rubbed both my arms.

“Is everything okay, baby?”

I grabbed his wrists and looked into his eyes. “I......I need to talk to you about something.” He followed me into the livingroom and we both sat down on the couch. Dicky had one arm around my shoulder and his other hand rested on my knee. He was looking me dead in the face. I couldn’t look at him, but I could feel his eyes on me.

“What’s this about, Drew?” Dicky asked me, concern evident in his voice.

“First, I wanna say that I love you. Never deny that, ok? You’re the only man for me and I would do anything for you. You know that right?”

“Of course I do, baby.”

I took a deep breath. “When I was in New York, my parents weren’t the only ones I ran into.........I ran into a guy named Nicolas Fairbanks. We were friends when we were younger. Best friends..........Lovers.” Dicky’s hands gripped my shoulder and knee a bit too roughly and he ducked his head, and I knew he was just waiting for me to say those four words. My eye began to tear and I started to nervously rub my hands together. “I tried to tell him ‘no’. Everyday, he’d chase after me. I just kept remembering you and the kids. But Friday, I was really depressed about my parents,” his breathing started to become heavier. “so, I went to a bar down the street and got drunk. When I made it back to my hotel room, I found all these candles and incense all over the place, and I thought it was you. It was Nicolas.” Dicky moved his hands away from me and sat with his head low and his hands balled up in tight fists. “He seduced me.......and....... and.....” I couldn’t get it out.

“You cheated on me.” It wasn’t a question.

“Yes.” I murmured.

Fast as quicksilver, Dicky jumped up, grabbed the expensive crystal vase we got as a wedding gift, and threw it against the wall, shattering it beyond repair. I jumped. “Dicky, I’m sorry. I.......”

He looked at me stunned. “You’re sorry? You’re sorry?!”

“I was drunk! I didn’t mean for it to happen!”

“Fuck your excuses, Andrew! You did it, that’s all that matters!” I put my head in my hands. “How could you do this?! You didn’t just cheat on me, you cheated on Damon and Sofia too! You invited another man into our family circle and let him corrupt it!” He tossed his hands up. “I thought I was different than all the others you’ve fucked in the past. I thought we had something special.”

“You ARE different from the others, Dicky.” I stood up and tried to walk to him. He stepped back.

“No I’m not. Because like me, you cheated on them too! You haven’t changed at all! You’re still the selfish hussy you were back in college! Being led around by your dick instead of your brain! If you really didn’t want it to happen, you would’ve stopped him!”

“I tried!” Tears started to roll down my face. “I wasn’t in my right mind! I was drunk!” Dicky just shook his head, then leaned against a wall and covered his face with his hands. I tried to walk to him again. When I had just barely touched his hands, I closed my eyes as he quickly grabbed my wrists and slammed me against the wall. I carefully opened my eyes and flinched in fear as I looked at the pissed off expression on his face. He started to perspire, his eyebrows were pushed together in a frown, his teeth were showing, and he was breathing hard. It looked like he was going to hit me. The thought probably crossed his mind. He dropped his head and looked to the ground. “Don’t touch me. I don’t want you touching me anymore.” He looked back up with a mirthless expression on his face. “Nor do I want you in this house.” With a shove, he backed away from me.

“Dicky, please don’t do this.” I pleaded.

“I can’t look at you right now, Andrew. Just go.” He walked off and sat back down on the couch. I could barely see with the silent tears rolling down my face, but I made it to the stairs and walked to our room to pack.

Bernard’s POV.......

Me, Francis, and the kids came back to Andrew’s house after an hour and a half of being gone. Ice-cream, mall, that should’ve given them enough time to talk it out.

When we got to Drew’s place, the door was unlocked, so Sofia bursted in. The children ran to their father, who was slouched on the couch looking at nothing, and started chattering about where we went. Richard tried to appear amused, but I knew. Something was not right. Francis touched my arm. “I don’t think it went to well.” He whispered.

I chuckled a bit. “Oh really? How could you tell?”

“Because of this.” He pointed to Andrew. The man was coming down the stairs, dragging a suitcase with him.

“Oh no.” I whispered.

Drew stopped and stood in front of me and Francis. His eyes were blood red. I just knew he had been crying. He shrugged. “Gotta go.” He said unenthusiastically.

“Oh, Andrew.....” I said.

“I’m sorry, man.” Francis said.

“Don’t worry about it. Could’ve been worse.”

I frowned. “Like what?”

Before he could answer, the children ran to Andrew. He kneeled down before them. “Where are you going, Uncle Drew?”

Andrew’s POV.......

“I......I have to go away for a little while.” I said to Sofia. “Be good while I’m gone, okay?” She nodded.

Damon had a confused expression on his face. “But you just came home this morning.”

“I know,” I ran my fingers through his curly hair. “but I have to go.”

He started to cry. “But I don’t want you to go.” He hugged my neck and I wrapped my arms around him.

“I’ll be back. I promise.”

“When?”

I reached for Sofia and hugged them both. “I can’t say right now. As soon as I can.” I pulled them away and grabbed my suitcase. Looking into the livingroom, I could see the back of Dicky’s body; still sitting on the couch with his head down. I hugged Francis and Bernard and walked outside to my car. Once I got my luggage in the trunk and shut it, I heard the patter of feet and yelling.

“Wait! Wait! I wanna go with you!” Damon was running to me with his bookbag on his shoulders and his soccer ball in his hands. *I’ve got to get out outta here before I have breakdown.* I tried to hold back tears as Damon clutched to me around my stomach.

“Damon honey, you gotta let me go now.”

“No!” He yelled stubbornly. “I wanna go with you!”

I finally pried his arms from me and kneeled back down to him. I held his little face with my hands and wiped away the tears with my thumbs. “You can’t come with me. You have to stay here.”

“Don’t leave. I gonna miss you.”

“Damon.....”

“You’re always gone! I don’t get to see you anymore!” He latched on to my neck again, the ball dropping, and with the grip he had, he wasn’t planning on letting go. “Please take me with you! Please!” He sobbed.

A tear rolled down my face. I kissed him on the side of his head. “Damon, you can’t come. Now let go.” I pulled at his arms. Every time I tried, he’d just latch on tighter to me. Francis was at the door and I beckoned for him to come.

Francis finally got the boy to let go. Damon tried to squirm away from Francis’ grip, but the man picked him up and held him over his shoulder as he walked back to the house. When I stood back up, I watched as Damon reached a hand out to me yelling, “Daddy! Daddy! Daddy, don’t leave me!” That scene took me back to the videotape when he got kidnaped. Everything was the same. He even reached for me with the same hand he did when he was three. That recollection really disturbed me. I quickly walked to my car and made my way down the road.

“FUCK!!!”

TBC........R&R.

P.S.
This week has been hectic for me. On top of trying to update, I have to turn in another story to a writer\'s workshop at my college this week. I knew I had to turn that in on time, so I had to put one of my stories on the back burner this week. And since I have now used up all my previous chapters of Danbrook\'s Angel, I chose that story. I plan on updating it, but I\'ll need time now, because I\'m going to have to actually START typing more of the story finally and I\'m gonna have to get back into that story\'s groove. Give me until this Friday, ok? I promise I\'ll have another chapter. Thanx.
