The only good part about the last three days was waking up yesterday morning and finding a fan pic from Suryllee in my inbox. I've been sick, I've been tired, and it's been the get up, work, come home, sleep thing that I'm not used to doing and thus it's worn me so thin that... I couldn't string more than a couple sentences together at a time. Four days off coming up though. Well... three for certain... so hopefully I can update then. But for the moment. The best I can offer is below. I'm goanna go crash now. Unless I get sudden inspiration or something. Read, Review and Enjoy. Paw slept. For the first time in weeks, the Sidhe actually slept soundly. So soundly that when Mik got up, he had tiptoed out of the room, afraid to wake Paw. He took the mesa with him as he left, not wanting the little bundle of energy to wake up his father. “Shae-ar!” it bubbled at him as he set it on the bathroom floor. Damned thing giggled every time Mik nicked himself shaving and thought it hilarious when it’s strange, and sudden, silence caused him to turn at just the wrong moment… And dump cologne onto his shirt. He changed his shirt and made breakfast. The realtor got back to him. Four hundred acres around the military base was for sale, did he want it? No, it didn’t include the base. Mik took it anyway. He was actually looking forward to the military trying to explain to a Sidhe that the base was owned by the people. It would either be hilariously funny, or end in a blood bath. Even as he spent the money, Mik checked his account and found a great big bonus. More money to spend. More money that he had spent on the land. Because ambassadors were expected to use that money on travel and security and proper attire and to do the same for their families. Mik had himself and so what for any other ambassador was seemingly not enough for the job needing to be done. He had too much money. And he really didn’t see money as anything more than dirt, really. Though it did buy him the land he wanted which would in turn help the Sidhe. Taln stumbled into the kitchen and dropped into the seat beside Mik. The mesa gurgled at, “unki Tathlinininin” as the babe put it, and immediately reached for the younger man to hold it. Taln grunted and then dropped his head onto the kitchen table.“Problem?” Mik asked, bouncing the mesa on his knee. “Valease has death squads.”“This is new information?”“Armed with…”“Godsbane?” what worse could they be, really?Taln groaned.“You’re. Joking. Right?”“Not godsbane,” Taln grumbled into the table, lifting his head and then smacking back on the table, “biological weaponry that the Sidhe are not immune to, not immune to at all.”“Oh.”“They wiped out a tribe on national television as a fucking example of their power.”“Oh.”“Wait. When did they-”“Last night,” Taln murmured in response.“Huh, strange because Paw slept through the night as if nothing-” Paw padded into the kitchen and gave Mik a sleepy smile. Mik responded in kind and looked at Taln, “happened. Are you certain your information is correct?”Taln sat up and looked over Mik’s shoulder, to Paw as the Sidhe made tea, “Give is a sec, if he was sleeping.”Paw’s tea mug flew past Mik’s ear and smashed against the opposite wall. The Sidhe let out a sound that started as a growl and turned to an angry click. “Paw, please, there is a mesa here,” Mik said to the Sidhe, “I’ve heard the news, it is disastrous. But we have to think of the living-”“The living?” Paw hissed out.“The mesa,” Mik motioned to the little one, watching Paw with rapt attention, “he might not understand, yet, what could be bothering you. Should we thrust the… inability of the people on …” Mik winced. He had said ‘he’ … fuck.Paw let out a loud sigh and slid into a chair beside Mik, “Mik correct. Leave off in front of mesa. And- why Mari’s head twisted?”Mari appeared at the apartment door a moment later, a dark look on her face. The woman’s eyebrows were drawn down and as she looked over the males at the table, something dangerous flickered across her features. Mari jabbed a finger at Taln. “Name the gods.”“Rahl-ta, Tahl-ra, Illuva, De,” Taln muttered, looking at Mik as if asking if he was correct. “Mik,” Mari growled.Paw’s hand shot up in the air. The Sidhe knew that people raised their hands when they wanted to speak and had learned to do so. Especially as the partners and Sidhe had kept up their lessons with the crazy linguist teacher. “Uhm…” Mik’s mind did a stumble, “Well… There’s Mother, Rahl-ta, Tahl-ra, Illuva, De, Ringe, Ill and, depending on who you ask, Ayato and even Rava at times.”“Ohohohohohoh,” Paw’s hand waggled in the air. Mari growled, “Paw?”“Mother, Harell, Rahl-ta, Tahl-ra, Illuva, De, Ringe and Ill!”“Being party to the throne you don’t know-”“Of course, Ringe and Ill are matered, but people say Ringe and Ill so we say Ringe and Ill to keep people from asking questions, good know that people know now.”“What-”“Remember the issue?” Taln snapped when Mik tried to ask what Mari and Paw were talking about, “the Valeasan issue? With the,” a hand motion, “and the-” another. Mik growled at Taln, “recall that Sidhe children learn hand motions before they learn to speak, Taln.”Taln swore under his breath and dropped his head back to the table. “What about the Valeasans and why wasn’t I told?” Mari’s voice dropped in pitch as she approached the table. “Uhm…” Taln started as Mik stood from the table. “I’ll get my coat and shoes, Paw, drop the mesa off with Lillow and why not come in with us? We’ll have to, you know, deal with Galt. Obviously he’s stopped information and…”“Gut the bastard pig!” Paw jumped up from his eat and plucked the mesa off of the table easily, rushing out of the apartment.Mik took a breath, not wanting to start something else, but at the same time, not wanting to miss the destructive force that was Mari pissed off. .
