Laughter
This took less than half an hour to write. I was supposed to be in bed two hours ago, but waiting for the bathroom ended in a conversation that hade me laughing so hard that I was in tears and that made me think... a lot of people say that that doesn't happen often to them and I know for Mik, it doesn't. Thus this. Chat in... eleven hours. So. 11am pacific time, at ayatostales.net. Click the link in the news thing. And now I really have to go to bed as my laptop is dying. Read, Review and enjoy. Paw dragged them all to the communal floor and made Mik sit beside Lillow as Paw sat on the other side of the teenager. The mesa immediately crawled away and went after Essuan’s mesa as the other made a mock cry of fear and tried to rush away. The two toddled around the room on two feet as the adults sat and talked. Essuan sat with Souse and smiled politely at Paw as if asking what Paw wanted. The smaller Sidhe replied in Sidhe, murmured tones that were not about Lillow needing to know about … certain aspects. This launched into a discussion, entirely in Sidhe. Mik was pissy, perhaps it was a result of the night before. The mood swing coming back to affect him. Or perhaps he was pissed because he was blatantly being left out of a conversation that he thought he was supposed to be included in. So Mik left the group and went after the mesas. His mesa giggled and threw its arms up in the air before screeching and rushing away. Rushing. The little imp pretended to toddle about unevenly but when Mik went to chase after it, it rushed off like it had had years of practice. Essuan’s mesa immediately stopped and stared at Mik with big, round, watery eyes. Essuan’s messa had a patch of almost white hair still. It was only then that Mik found the changing hair colours odd. That thought disappeared a moment later when his own mesa ran out from behind a pillar, shouting something out as it waved its arms and ran head long into his leg. Mik toppled over, pretending to be afraid as the mesa very gently smacked his leg and then his torso before it burst into giggles and collapsed against him, arms outstretched as if it were trying to hug him. Mik couldn’t help himself, a chuckle escaped his throat. The chuckle rumbled through his chest and made the mesa sit up and glare at him. The creature thumped its head back against Mik’s chest as if listening intently for something. “Mwa.”The other mesa toddled over and fell onto its bottom right beside Mik. It tapped the floor with both its hands and made a gurgling sound before making a hand motion that almost implied wiping a table clean. Mik’s mesa wasn’t looking at the other, but the baby still giggled at the motion as if Essuan’s mesa had been verbal. What the … Mik’s mesa sat up and dragged itself off of Mik before tapping Essuan’s mesa on the shoulder and stomping off like a toddler. Babies were not meant to run, Mik told himself as he sat up and moved after his own mesa. He chased the Sidhe about pillars, through Essuan’s herb area and around the water tub before he lost sight of it for only a moment. The next time he spotted it, it was sitting beside Essuan’s mesa wearing a similar look on its face. They were trying to fool him. Mik walked up to the two mesa and seemed to consider them both. He tapped his bottom lip and motioned to Essuan’s mesa, then tapped his lip and motioned to his mesa. Both watched him with wide, watery eyes. He almost thought he saw a bottom lip tremble in Essuan’s mesa. Both were playing him. Or. Souse was babying his mesa. Babying… a two week old baby?Mik snatched up Essuan’s mesa and mimicked the sounds that Paw made when he picked up their mesa. The babe looked absolutely confused. Dark eyebrows drew down and lips pressed together into a nearly perfect pout. His own mesa stood up, horrified. It stomped its feet and waved its hands around and huffed out. Mik looked away from Essuan’s mesa and down at his own as if asking ‘what’? The mesa threw its hands into the air and stomped its feet again, huffing loudly. Mik let out a huff of his own and looked at Essuan’s mesa. He turned the creature on its side as if inspecting its feet, then he turned it the other way as the mesa in his hands burst into giggles. Mik righted the mesa and look into its eyes before closing his own eyes and giving his head a hard shake, implying that he must have the wrong child. He put the mesa down and plucked up his own. The creature folded its arms and tried to pout, looking away from Mik, unimpressed with the entire thing. Mik laughed, turned his head away and pressed his lips into his arm as if that would erase the smile. Smiling would not help. And yet even thinking that, he laughed louder. “Mesa.”The mesa huffed and pressed its lips tighter together, its little frown deepening. Mik tried to bite his tongue as he turned the Sidhe so that the creature had to look at him. Or. Should have had to. The mesa turned its head at an impossible angle, away from Mik. It only made Mik laugh harder, even as his stifled his laugh. Tears came to his eyes as he brought the mesa close. He was laughing so hard he was crying. The mesa made a sound at the back of its throat and Mik sighed out, looking down at the creature. It seemed concerned for a moment before its features reverted back to that of a baby’s and it giggled, clapping its hands. “Oh my. Little one, you are going to be the death of me,” Mik said as he chuckled. He wiped his eyes and grinned toothily at the mesa. It returned the smile. “Mik?” Paw called from where the adults were having their conversation. Mik sighed at the mesa and pressed his forehead against the mesa’s, “one day, maybe it will just be this and not every other responsibility at the same time, neh?”“Neh.”Mik set the mesa on the floor and moved to attend to Paw’s side. The Sidhe took his hand and gave it a pat, flashing Mik a small, satisfied smile as he looked at Souse. The leader looked mildly uncomfortable. Essuan poked her mate. “We,” Souse murmured, “have determined that the males offer us no more harm than any other of the… strange.. Type?”“Meaning?” Mik asked. He wanted Souse to say it out loud so that in this, there was absolutely no confusion. “Rel and the one named… Mwa. May move into the building. But there are some conditions. Mik.”.
