Shae-ar
I know its been a few days, bad me, bad. I thought about updating Sequel, but Rel is really useless for several more days due to his state. So... Partners instead. It's my Tuesday/Wednesday thing, except it ... doesn't start for several more hours. So there may actually be another update today! I'd like to do a live chat on Saturday morning, if anyone is interested. It could very well determine how Partners is written. I've noticed, in my reading, that it's gotten very serious and not much to giggle at through the chapters starting just before the mesas were born. So if you'd like to have a voice in the future of how (and possibly the plot, comments have altered that in the past as well) Partners and Sequel are written, join me on ayatostale.net between 11am and 2pm (Pacific, as in west coast of North America) Saturday morning by going and clicking on the link in the news section. I've noticed typos throughout and let me tell you, it takes a great deal not to go through and change all the typos. There's one that I don't even know what I meant. Gah. This wasn't quite amusing, but seemingly it will get me where I need Mik to be. And yes, we shall be going through the crazy bit that is the Sidhe version of meditation. Read, Review and enjoy. Mik walked into the apartment and sighed heavily. He dropped his cell and keys on the counter. He was really getting tired of this ambassador stuff. Sure he had a voice amongst the law makers and they listened to him more closely, especially after Galt’s attempt to bend them to the military’s will, but the politicians still mainly ignored him. Like he didn’t exist. Paw was waiting for him, grinning as the Sidhe bounced the mesa on his hip. The baby gurgled and waved its arms about as if it were trying to fly. “Hullo,” Mik muttered, trying to smile. “Mik upset. No worries, not forever.”“Years seem like forever to a person in my position,” Mik muttered, moving close enough to peck Paw and then the mesa on the head, “hiya, little one. Not often you’re up when I am.”“Hiya!” the mesa responded before bursting into a fit of giggles. Mik pulled away from the mesa, startled, and looked at Paw questioningly. “Little show Mik what little one can do,” Paw urged the mesa with a poke. “Shae-ar!”Which did not help Mik’s puzzlement, “What does that mean?”“Father.”“Oh, then that is absolutely adorable!” Mik pecked the mesa’s head, “can you say father as well?”“Fabbbabbbooo.”Mik shrugged as Paw said, “Close ‘nough.” The little one had black hair sprouting all over the top of its head, negating the cute factor for Mik as the hair was random and seemed to all grow at a different rate. Like a bad haircut. On a rat. Its eyes were green with a speckle of blue down the right side of each iris and along the bottom. The mesa’s eye colour had changed, but Mik was hard pressed to recall the original colour of the irises. Paw walked away suddenly, going into the living room. Mik sighed and shuffled to the bathroom, showering and trying to let go of his stress from the day. After his shower, he put on a pair of pants and shuffled back to the living room. No sign of Paw. The living room was lit by a single lamp, seemingly making the mural come alive. Behind Paw’s scrawled writing were the still visible lines of the pencil, of where Paw was going to add to the mural. A mountain or a cave opening. It was hard to tell with the lighting and without colour. Just grey on white. Mik took the steps two at a time and entered the green room. It had been a while since he had stopped to take in the plants. Paw was offering a leaf of a tree to the mesa and the smaller creature batted it away time and again, turning its head and scrunching up its face in obvious dislike. “What’s that one?”“Like… how people give children calcium. Sidhe give children this. Very common plant,” Paw sighed, “but it not want.”“Do other children want that?”“Yesh, love it, eat all long time. When hit adolescence, suddenly badly it tastes. So. Stop eating it, move on to other plants,” Paw turned the leaf this way and that and nibbled the tip. The Sidhe made a face and spat it back out, “not understand why child not want leaf? Leaf good for child.”“Broccoli is good for people children, but they hate that.”“Is because broccoli have flavour to it that warn off children of eating of it. Taste say this stuff poison and so children no like it. This stuff not taste like poison. Taste like…” Paw smacked his lips and considered, “sweet stuffs that goes bitter as years go on.”“Maybe it’s now bitter to everyone. A change in the plant.”“People poison lands, land feed plants, plants go poison… is possible.”“Mm, I mean, yes,” Mik shook his head and wandered to a bare spot on the floor, “I. Have been stressed lately.”“Is not forever,” something about Paw’s tone changed. Mik didn’t have to look over his shoulder to know that he was speaking to Whisper, “Spring comes soon. With spring comes blooming and growth and new things.”“Yes. But.” Mik sighed and turned towards Paw, “I know I’m doing this for a good reason, but I just don’t feel like my influence does anything. Galt is taking over the program when Mari isn’t looking and I’m. I’m just a figurehead it seems. No one really listens to me. Why the fuck pay me so much money if they aren’t even going to listen to me?”“To shut Mik up,” Paw murmured, “people way, no? Man in way, man cause problem, pay man lots of money and put man in job that doesn’t really do anything, that takes man out of problem.”Mik considered this, “since I left the program Galt has taken over…”“Mik make noise, well, Mik Piho’s brother and everyone watch and believe. But some reason people think Mik only care because Mik part of … government, that Mik only try and look like he saving Sidhe because Mik is being paid to do so. That Mik not actually making effort.”“They pay me a lot of money… just to tuck me away.”“Paw likes mister president person. Good man, but man figurehead. Man fight with Valease and united countries thing and no more energy left to help Mik. Perhaps man thinks Mik strong enough to defend self. That Mik smart enough to hold own ground. Mik has, after all, done a great deal of things and good and yay and woooohooo,” Paw sighed and set the mesa on the floor, “Paw would say Mik is stressed for nothing, but Auhi sees that this is hurting Mik, deep down,” the Sidhe approached Mik and tapped Mik’s chest, “here,” a tap to Mik’s temple, “Whisper can see the hurt it causes here. Mik need zoo-zoo, look to self and find answer within self. What Mik can do to feel better about self, while helping Sidhe.”“Zoo-zoo,” it had worked before, “would that help with the-”“In with good of plants, out of emotions. Plants absorb emotions and turn to good stuff and then breath in good stuff.”“And then?”Paw reverted back to himself and shrugged, “then Mik feel better?”“No, I mean, after I zoo-zoo, then what for tonight?”“Mik… suggesting something?”“We haven’t used any toys in a while…”Paw grinned and pecked Mik on the cheek, “will put mesa to bed. Then after zoo-zoo we play. Take long as need, tomorrow weekend day, sleep ins and all that stuff.”.
