Torn
Aidan turned to Andrew who was struggling to breathe. "Do you always take advantage of unsuspecting women, especially ones that are hurt?"
"Aidan let him go!" Mia yelled. She'd never seen him so...violent.
Aidan released him and took a step back just as Andrew swung his fist at him. Aidan easily dodged it.
"Bastard, what's the meaning of attacking me like this? I could sue you!" Andrew yelled angrily. He took another swing at Aidan who caught his fist in mid-air and then grabbed his arm twisted it and flipped him on his back.
Mia couldn't believe what he saw. Aidan's movement was methodical, quick and sharp as if he'd known exactly what he was doing. It only took a second for him to lay Andrew on his back on the floor and step on his chest to hold him down. Who was this person?
"Sue?" Aidan said. "I could sue you for sexual harassment. Mia has shown you countless of times that she's not interested in you and when she walks away she doesn't spare you a second thought, if she did, I'd know about it, believe me. Mia belongs to me."
"In what way?" Andrew yelled in anger and shock as he glanced at Mia then back at Aidan.
"Every way possible, she's mine, Andrew, get over her or there will be consequences!" Aidan took his foot off Andrew's chest and watched him get up.
Andrew stared at Mia. All the fight seemed to have gone out of him. "Is it true, Mia?" he asked quietly.
"I'm sorry, Andrew," she told him.
Aidan's eyes narrowed. "No, you're not..." he said looking at her angrily.
"Someone has to be nice to him, he didn't know," Mia told him. She went to Andrew to help him. Aidan stood in front of her. "Where do you think you're going? You're in enough trouble as it is."
"Mia, I'm sorry if my advances made you uncomfortable. I thought that if I tried hard enough you'd end up liking me."
"And you thought if you kissed her, she'd suddenly feel some hidden chemistry between you two and magically fall in love," Aidan said knowing he was right from the surprise look on Andrew's face. "Too late, Andrew, leave and please do not come around Mia again."
Andrew nodded and walked away, completely defeated. He glanced at Kale who had just entered the room in time to see Mia slap Aidan hard across the face.
Aidan had turned to Mia to scold her for leaving the party with Andrew when she slapped him. For a moment, he couldn't figure out what had hit him. He stared at Mia with a confused expression and touched the cheek that stung so painfully. His fingers felt something wet. He pulled away and stared at the blood on them. Mia had left a bloody hand print on the side of his face when she slapped him.
He stared at her in complete and utter shock.
Mia had hit him? His Mia?
She stood there staring up at him as if she wanted to kill him. He'd never seen her look at him like that, not even when she was angry or upset. Her hands were clenched into a fist, blood dripped on the floor between her fingers. "Do you enjoy playing like me like a game of chess? Do you like being so manipulative?"
"Mia, what are you talking about?" Aidan whispered.
"I know what you did! Lisa told me you probably did it on purpose to keep me all to yourself. She said it jokingly, but I've been around you long enough to know it was probably the truth. So tell me Aidan, did you purposely have sex with me in the office because you knew it would cause problems and get me fired?"
"Damn," she heard Kale said. She turned to him. "Were you in on this too?"
"No, Mia. Kale had no clue, he was just going with the flow," Aidan said quickly in Kale's defense.
"So you admit it then?"
Aidan bowed his head.
"I knew it because after I left I had some time to think about it and it just didn't seem like something you'd do so randomly at work. After all, you of all people always follow the rules of the company so strictly. Why did you do it Aidan?"
"I wanted you to live with us," he admitted. "I thought if you worked at our house, you'd eventually have to move in when the work got demanding."
"Why didn't you just ask me to move in with you?" Mia wanted to know.
"Would have said yes?"
"No, I wouldn't."
"Then you understand why I didn't ask."
"Is that type of reasoning supposed to make me feel better? You knew I would say no so you decided to manipulate me?"
"I was worried about you living alone. I hate worrying about you, Mia."
"I've been living alone for a very long time, why are you so worried all of a sudden?"
Kale walked towards them and stood beside Aidan. "There's a rapist on the loose, Mia. He didn't want to take any chances. I don't want to take any chances."
"A rapist, huh? He can't be any worse than Aidan raping my mind."
"Mia! That's a harsh thing to say to Aidan. He's only looking out for you."
"Shut up, Kale! Just be glad you didn't take a part in this or else I might have to leave BOTH of you!"
"Leave us?" Kale asked as if he couldn't believe what she was saying.
Mia turned to Aidan who was looking at her with empty blue eyes. The words she'd said hurt him deeply. He didn't know how to deal with this new foreign feeling from her.
"Aidan, you are one controlling, manipulative man. How can I be with you if I feel I can't trust you? We talked about this before when you guys went behind my back and decided who would take my virginity and I told you the next time you did something like this I wouldn't easily forgive you. I'm a human being, I have feelings too. I can think for myself and I know what's best for me. Just because you don't agree doesn't give you the right to deceive me to get your way. I was very upset when I lost my job, believe it or not I actually liked working there, but you didn't care how I felt did you, as long as you got your way. If you were so worried about me, you should have sat down and talked to me, told me your feelings. I may not have agreed with you, but at least I'd know you respected me. Treating me like this shows you don't respect me at all."
"That's not true, Mia. All I could think of was protecting you even from yourself, but when you put it like this; you make me sound like a villain. Mia, I love you. I'm sorry, I made a mistake. I didn't mean to hurt you. I'm so sorry," Aidan took a step to her and reached out to pull her in his arms.
Mia moved away from him. "I'm going home." She left before they could stop her.
Kale looked at Aidan and Mia's retrieving figure. He really didn't know what to do. He had never ever seen her so angry at Aidan and the things she had said to him was something he would have never imagined coming out of her mouth, maybe to him, but not Aidan. He stared at Aidan who just stood there staring down at the floor. He was hurt. Kale could practically feel the intense pain radiating from him.
Aidan suddenly took in a deep breath. He didn't look at Kale, but continued to stare at the floor. "Mia's been drinking tonight. Hurry up and find her before she gets into the car. Take her home."
Kale rushed to the door, but stopped and turned around. "Are you going to be okay?"
"I'll be fine, just go get Mia. If you let her get into her car and drive away by herself, I'll never forgive you."
He waited until Kale was out of the room and then walked around and sat down on the couch. He rested his arms in his lap and covered his face with his hand. "Does she hate me? How can I fix this?" He whispered.
Kale caught up with Mia just as she was getting into her car. He had to drag her out of the driver's seat and carry her to the passenger side and toss her in as she fought against him. She was definitely tipsy if not completely drunk. After she and Aidan's ugly argument, Kale had been too shock to realize she would be driving home this way. Thank god for Aidan's quick thinking. The guy was hurting, but he still managed to protect her. Couldn't Mia see how much he loved her? He suppose she couldn't in her condition now. Later on, he hoped she would calm down and forgive Aidan, but deep down he had a feeling this wasn't over.
He stayed with Mia that night as she raved and ranted at him about Aidan until she finally passed out from exhaustion. He put her to bed and called Aidan.
"How is she?" Aidan wanted to know.
"She's sleeping, she's still pissed."
"Pissed is putting it lightly," Aidan said.
"I hope you're at home, Aidan. I don't want to have to come to the party to get you too if you're drinking."
"I went home shortly after you left," Aidan said.
"This is going to blow over right?" Kale asked. "It's just another crazy spat and everything will be okay tomorrow, right?"
"I don't know. I think I really messed up. You heard her; she doesn't think she can trust me."
"It was probably the alcohol speaking, I mean come on; she slapped you... you of all people. I thought I would be the first one she'd slap because we're always arguing. I never thought Mia would hit you in anger. You two get along so well. It has to be the alcohol."
"I want to say you're right, Kale..." Aidan said.
"You'll see, everything will be fine tomorrow," Kale said as if he had no choice but to believe it.
Aidan could almost hear the panic in his voice. He realized this was affecting Kale too. He was afraid. Kale was afraid of losing Mia. "I'm sure you're right," Aidan said as calmly as he could. He heard Kale let out a sigh of relief.
"I'm going to stay with Mia tonight. Make sure she gets up okay before I come to work," Kale told him.
"You do that," Aidan said. "Did you bandage her hand properly?"
"Yes, I did it while she was asleep."
"Good. I'll see you tomorrow then."
Aidan hung up the phone. Kale cut off his phone and put it on the stand beside the bed. He turned to Mia's sleeping figure and pulled her his arms.
Mia woke up the next day, her body plastered against Kale's. She wondered how on earth she'd managed to sleep on top of him. He must have pulled her on top of him in his sleep. His strong arms were wrapped tightly around her holding her in place making it difficult to move. She raised up on her arms and stared down into his face. His long black hair was spread wildly over the pillows. She ran her fingers down the side of his face admiring his high cheek bones and his sexy full lips. The man was beautiful. He looked so peaceful when he was asleep, like a muscular dark angel, all that was missing was a pair of black wings. Compared to the large size of his body, she felt so tiny whenever he held her in his arms. She looked around for Aidan expecting to see him nearby. The bed was empty with the exception of Kale and herself. Suddenly memories of last night came pouring back into her mind. Her body stiffened and jerked away from Kale.
He woke up immediately just in time to see her roll off him onto the bed. "Mia?" he asked, his voice gruff with sleep. He sat up on his side and looked at her.
"You didn't have to stay with me last night," she told him.
"I wanted to. How do you feel?"
"A little dizzy, I'll be okay," she looked at the clock. "You should be getting ready for work."
Kale reached over, grabbed her arm and pulled her against him. He wrapped his arms around her and snuggled deeper into the covers. "I should, but I don't want to."
"Kale," Mia mumbled when he began kissing the side of her face. His lips were warm and felt so good against her skin, she wanted to stretch and purr like a cat, especially when he began kissing her neck and shoulders. "Kale," Mia said with more alert when he began to pull down the straps to her gown. She pushed him away before he could make it to her breasts. "Seriously...I just woke up..."
"You never complained about it before," Kale said watching as she moved away from him. When she turned her back to him and lay on her side, he let out a frustrated growl. "This is about Aidan isn't it? Are you still angry with him?"
"I'm tired, Kale," Mia said rolling up in a fetal position under the covers. "Let me go back to sleep."
"Mia, why can't you just forgive him?" Kale asked moving over and pulling her back against him. He ran his fingers through her hair and pulled it away from her face as he peered over her side.
"I don't know if I can..." Mia said in a broken voice, "and that's what scares me."
Kale turned her towards him and wrapped his arms around her. He felt her hot tears running down his chest. "It scares me too," he admitted. He held her for a long while, rubbing his large hands up and down her small back and giving her warm kisses. "I can stay home today if you need me," he finally said.
"No, go to work, I want to be alone for a while."
Kale nodded. "I love you, Mia."
She looked up at him and smiled a little. "I love you too," she told him.
Kale kissed her forehead and got out of bed. Mia listen to him take a shower and then watched him leave her room to put on his clothes in his bedroom. When he came back in later, fully dressed, she was half asleep. He sat down on the bed and brushed back her hair from her face. "Anyone ever tell you, you look beautiful in the mornings? I can't figure it out myself how you manage to look so good when you wake up."
Mia had to smile at the crazy compliment. She had just woken up, her eyes were probably swollen and red from crying and he thought she was beautiful.
Kale suddenly frowned as he stared down at her. "Don't do anything stupid while I'm gone."
"Kale, I'm too tired and a little hung over to do anything but fix me a cup of coffee. I'm definitely not going outside today."
"Good," Kale looked satisfied. "I'll call later to check on you. Keep your cell phone on or I'll be ringing your house phone off the hook."
"Okay," Mia said.
Aidan called as Kale was driving to work. "How is she?" He asked.
"Depressed," Kale said.
Aidan sighed. "I didn't get much sleep last night."
"I hope you two can talk today. I don't like this," Kale said.
"I detest it," Aidan said.
Throughout the day, Mia wondered around her apartment in a daze. One part of her was already missing Aidan like crazy and the other part of her was too afraid to get near him. She had lost her trust in him and wondered if she'd be able to trust him again. He'd called her several times and she'd hung up in his face. A large bouquet of roses was delivered to her door in the afternoon with a handwritten note from Aidan telling her he was sorry and that he wanted to see her. She threw them in the garbage. Aidan came by after work with Kale holding more flowers and a huge teddy bear and chocolates. She opened the door and pulled Kale in and shut the door in Aidan's face.
"Mia, stop acting like this!" Kale frowned at her and started to open the door.
"You open that door and you'll be kicked out as well," she threatened.
Kale let go of the door knob and turned to her. "Don't you think you're acting a little childish?"
"No, not at all because this is something he can't control. I'm in control for once, let him know what it feels like to play with people lives and emotions."
"And what about my life and my emotions, Mia? Aidan is like a brother to me. I don't like to see him hurt and I don't like to see you hurting. I hate not being together. Don't you see I'm stuck in the middle of this and it's killing me?"
"It's okay, Kale," Aidan said. He was still standing at the door and could hear them talking behind it. "The last thing I want is for her to be angry at you. Stay by her side and take care of her since I can't do it right now."
"Oh my god, he's still in control," Mia opened the door and pushed Kale outside. "Don't come here anymore!" She told him.
"Mia!" Kale banged on the door when he heard her lock it. "Mia you bring your little ass back here right now and open this mutha fucking door!" He roared.
"Kale if you don't stop yelling outside and disturbing the neighbors I'm going to have to call the police," Mia told him.
"Call the damn police, I don't give a fuck!" Kale yelled loudly.
"I have to insist you act with a little more dignity, Kale," Aidan said.
Kale turned to him and grabbed him by the collar. He pulled his face close to his. "You fix this Aidan. This is our family you're destroying! Mia is part of our family without her there is no us anymore. Don't destroy my happiness!" He pushed Aidan upside the door hard and walked down the steps.
"Where are you going?" Aidan asked him.
"Home without you! You don't leave until you've made everything right again. I don't care if you have to stay outside forever!"
Aidan watched Kale jump in their car and take off, tires screeching loudly on the pavement. He sighed and sat down beside the flowers, teddy bear and the candy he'd place on the ground. Mia watched him lean his back against the door and wondered how long he planned to stay out there.
Two hours later Mia looked outside her window. Kale and Aidan had arrived around 7:00pm, now it was 9:00pm and pitch dark outside. Aidan was still out there sitting against her door staring out into the night and watching the cars pass by.
"Go home!" She told him from her window.
"I can't," Aidan said. "Kale doesn't want me to come home. I don't blame him and I don't blame you for being so angry at me."
"I'm not going to let you in," Mia told him.
"That's fine. I don't plan on going anywhere."
Mia let out an irritated sigh and walked away. She fixed herself something to eat and watched a movie in the living room. The entire time, all she could think of was him. At eleven, she peeped outside again. Aidan was still out there. He'd opened her box of chocolates and was eating them.
"Aidan go to a motel or something. There's one right down the street," she told him.
"I'm not leaving Mia until you decide to talk to me. Besides, if I leave, you won't answer my calls or Kale's tonight and I have to know that you're safe."
"You still have to be in control don't you?" Mia said and slammed the window shut loudly.
She went to her bedroom and laid down. It was beginning to get cool in the room so she climbed under the covers. She ended up falling asleep and suddenly waking up around three a.m. Her first thought was Aidan, surely he'd went home or to a hotel by now. It had to be freezing outside; San Francisco was known for its cold summer nights. She went to the living room window and looked out through the glass.
Aidan was still sitting there. He was rocking back and forth and breathing on his hands to keep warm. The jacket to his suite was wrapped tightly around him. All her chocolates had been eaten; some of the empty wrappers had blown down the sidewalk. The flowers had wilted from the cold and lack of water.
Mia's heart sunk. No matter how angry she was at him, she'd never be so cruel as to leave him outside all night. She would have let him in sooner had she not fallen asleep. Aidan who had been leaning against the door, fell in backwards when she opened it. He stared up at her blankly.
She sighed. "Come in, Aidan."
He got up slowly and stiffly and walked into the apartment. Mia closed the door and locked it once he was inside. Aidan suddenly fell to his knees and grabbed her around the waist.
"Aidan, what?!" Mia jumped in fright and tried to get away from him. He wouldn't let her.
"Please forgive me, Mia. Please, please, please forgive me. I beg you. I can't go through life without you in it. You have to understand how much I love you. You were right about everything. I should have talked to you and told you how I felt. From now on, I will tell you everything, just don't let this break us up."
Mia stared down at him, the anger she had towards him began disappear. This man, this very powerful, rich, successful and gorgeous man who could have anyone he wanted had stayed outside her door all night in the cold and now was on his knees begging her to forgive him. She didn't deserve him.
"I understand now," she said as tears began to fall from her eyes and land on his cheeks. "I understand how much you love me." There were dark circles under his beautiful blue eyes. His lips were slightly blue. He felt so cold and hard against her. "I'm sorry Aidan. I would have let you in earlier, but I fell asleep, I didn't know you would stay out here all night. You're a crazy, crazy man. Come on, let me fix you some hot tea and then something to eat and we'll talk."
Aidan didn't let her go, he continued to stare up at her, his arms wrapped tightly around her waist. Mia realized it wasn't tea or food he wanted right now. He needed reassurance. She knelt down with him until she faced him and kissed his very cold, dry lips.
Aidan attacked her like a starving man. He needed her so much right now. He needed her in his arms, to feel her warm naked body against his. He needed to be buried so deeply inside of her, there was no way he could ever fear losing her again.
Mia let him take her right there on the floor in front of the door. Clothes flew everywhere in their impatience to feel each other skin again skin. Aidan's body felt like ice. She clung to him trying to warm him with her own body heat. There was hardly any foreplay. She was ready for him like always. As soon as he started stripping her clothes off, she started dripping wet, anxious to have him inside of her. She let out a soft scream when he thrust inside of her burying his huge dick completely to the hilt. He let out a sigh and held her for a long moment without moving inside of her. He kissed her tenderly, lovingly.
"Aidan," she mumbled as she ran her fingers through his blonde hair.
"Wrap your arms around my neck," he told her. "And hold on tightly."
She looked at him curiously, but did as he requested. It was then he started to move, pulling out and thrusting deeply inside of her. His strokes were possessive, measured and intense. Mia wrapped her legs around his hips to hold on. It was as if he was claiming her all over again, branding her to him. For someone who hadn't eaten dinner or had anything to drink all evening, the man had lots of stamina. He began to thrust inside of her harder, faster, not giving her time to relax and enjoy the intense pleasure he was giving her. For once that maddening control of his seemed lost to him tonight. It had completely disappeared.
He moaned loudly with each hard thrust and mumbled about how good she felt and how he wanted to be like this with her forever until Mia threw her head back in a huge orgasm. Aidan let out a loud groan completely defeated and came inside of her. His body shook violently above hers as spurt after spurt of hot semen shot deeply inside her womb. For the first time Mia realized she hadn't used any type of birth control with Kale or Aidan today. Her last thought as she closed her eyes and let her orgasm take over her mind and body was ...I'm soo pregnant...
