Chapter Seventeen:
“Want a drink?” Kousuki asked as he poured himself a glass of red wine. “I would prefer whiskey if you have any,” replied Luka as he sat down in the big, comfy black leather couch. Kousuki poured Luka a glass of whiskey on the rocks and carried it over to him. Luka accepted the drink and took a sip of it as Kousuki sat down next to him and took a sip of his red wine as well. “I heard that the mate which your people chose for you still has not given you any children Luka. Haven’t you done your job as husband, or are you still in love with Hiro? You and I know very well that when it comes to our species, love must be involved between the two mates in order for us to procreate. If you don't love him, no matter how hard you try, you will never get an heir from your mate Luka,” Kousuki said after a short moment of silence. “I did what my people asked and married someone they chose for me. If they expect me to fall in love as well, then it’s their problem not mine for my feelings will never change. I love Hiro and only him,” Luka said softly and he continued to sip his whiskey. He stared off into the distance, letting his memories take over. -----
“You are getting married! How could you Luka?! How could you do this to me?” Hiro sobbed as he beat his fists against Luka’s chest. “I came over today because I had something important I wanted to tell you, but I never expected to overhear your argument with Ray about your upcoming marriage to someone else.” “Hiro listen to me,” Luka said as he tried to calm the human he loved. “Listen to you? Why should I Luka? Tell me why should I? Give me one good reason Luka.” Hiro sobbed as he wiped his tears away with the back of his hand. “I love you Hiro. Please hear me out,” Luka pleaded as he stared down at Hiro’s crying face. It broke his heart to see the person he loved feeling so much pain and sadness. Luka felt like his heart was about to be torn apart. “Alright Luka I’ll hear you out.” Hiro replied, giving in after hearing Luka say that he loved him. “I love you Hiro. I love you very much,” began Luka. “Then why are you marrying someone else?” Hiro demanded an answer from the man he loved. “Because I have to Hiro. I have a duty as the ruler of my people. I must marry my kind.” “Why can't you just marry me? Just like Ray married Haruka. What makes your species so different than Ray’s? He is also the ruler of his kind,” Hiro demanded as more tears rolled down his cheeks. “Why is it that Ray can marry Haruka but you can't marry me Luka?” he shouted. “Ray and I are not the same kind of species Hiro,” replied Luka. Hiro shook his head and backed away from Luka with eyes full of tears. “You don't love me as much as I love you Luka,” he murmured. “I do love you Hiro. I love you more than my own life,” Luka insisted as he reached out to touch Hiro’s face which was wet with tears. Hiro took another step back, not allowing Luka to touch him. “If you really loved me Luka you would have chosen me over your duty to your people.” “Hiro, please try to understand,” Luka pleaded once more. “Hiro nothing is going to change between us, even after I am married. We can still continue to be together,” said Luka, trying very hard to hang on to the human he loved. “You can only have one Luka, me or your duty to your people,” Hiro said firmly. He knew that he wasn't being fair, making Luka chose between him and his people, but he didn't want the man he loved to belong to someone else just because he was human. He had given up so many things to be with this man. For the first time in his life Hiro hated that he was born a human. “Hiro, don't make me chose between you and my people,” Luka pleaded wanting Hiro to understand. Luka wanted Hiro to put himself in that position and to see that it wasn't an easy decision for him to make. "Please Hiro don't make me chose. My people need me. I can never betray them." Hiro gave Luka a sad smile after hearing his answer. “You can never betray your people but you asked me to betray my family just for you. How is that fair Luka? I meant so little to you that when it was time for you to chose, you chose your people. In the end, your people are more important to you than I am.” Hiro stared directly into Luka’s eyes with one hand resting over his stomach, making up his mind right then and there that he would never let Luka know about the life he carried inside him. “I wish you happiness Luka with the choice you made.” With that, he opened the door and fled. That was the last time Luka ever saw Hiro. ----
A sad look came over Luka’s face, replacing the stern look he usually carried. Everytime he recalled that day, his heart ached in pain and sadness from losing the only person he ever loved. He looked up at Kousuki. “Even after all these years he is still the only one in my heart.” “It is hard to forget the one you love, especially if that person is the one that you were meant to be with,” commented Kousuki. “I heard from Ray that you are still searching for Hiro even after all these years.” “I won't give up until I find him,” came Luka’s soft reply. A soft knock came at the door and Kousuki told whoever it was to come in. The butler Kohei entered and bowed. “Master Kousuki, dinner is ready for you and your two guests,” he said and then left. Kousuki placed his empty glass on the table and stood up. “If you will excuse me Luka, I have to fetch my mate for dinner. I will see you at the table.” With that said, he left to get Kou, leaving Luka alone to his memories. -----
Haruka woke up right before dawn. He was the first one awake that morning. He sat up and let out a yawn. Just as he was about to get out of bed, his eyes caught sight of the silhouette of a person standing on the balcony outside of his room. He got out of bed and carefully approached the person outside. When he got closer and realized who it was, a wide smile filled with happiness came over his face. “Hiro!” Haruka called out to his best friend right before wrapping his arms around him and hugging him tightly. “I knew that you did not die.” “I almost would have if it had not been for Chika,” Hiro said sadly. “I'm so sorry Hiro,” Haruka said sincerely. “I heard from Naru that you and Chika got married.” “Hiro I want to know---” “I know what you want to know Haruka,” Hiro cut in. “I didn't die in a car accident, I planted that fake memory in Naru’s head.” “But why Hiro?” Haruka asked, full of confusion. “Because someone wants me dead,” replied Hiro. “Who would want you dead Hiro?” “I don't know and until I do, I figured that it would be safer for Naru if I faked my own death,” Hiro said, then he looked his friend in the eyes. “Promise me Haruka that you won't tell anyone not even Naru that I am still alive.” Haruka hesitated for a few seconds and then finally agreed to keep Hiro’s secret. “Alright I won't tell anyone, not even Ray, and especially not Naru.” “Thank you Haruka,” Hiro said. He pulled out a piece of paper with some numbers on it and gave it to Haruka. “You can contact me at this number if anything happens to Naru.” “Hiro, you do know that Luka is still searching for you, don't you?” Haruka asked his friend. “I don't give a damn about that person. He could search for the rest of his life and I would never appear before him. I swore to never see that heartless man again. He made his choice and he has to live with it,” Hiro said bitterly. “You still haven't forgiven him Hiro?” asked Haruka with sadness in his eyes. “That’s right. I still haven't forgiven him, and I never will. Do you know Haruka I gave up everything for him. I betrayed my own clan just to be with him, but he.... but he couldn't do any of that for me who he claimed to love with all his heart. In the end, he couldn't give up anything for me, nor was he willing to disobey his own people for me. On the day I left him, I realized that I was an idiot. A stupid idiot. He lied to me Haruka. He made me cry when he knew damn well that I was not supposed to cry. I lost all my powers because of him, and for that I can never forgive him.” "Oh Hiro …," Haruka said and hugged his friend gently, comforting him in his arms and that was how Ray saw them when he woke up. Ray lay still in bed and waited until Hiro left before getting out of bed. He walked over to his husband’s side. He wrapped his arms around Haruka’s waist from behind, startling his husband in the process. “Ray, you scared me,” said Haruka softly. "That was Hiro wasn't it?" Ray asked Haruka. "I promised him Ray that I wouldn't tell anyone that he is alive, but since you already saw him I guess it’s safe to say yes. Hiro is alive and you can't tell anyone. Promise me Ray.” “I promise and I always keep my promise to you Haruka," replied Ray as he nibbled on his husband’s earlobe. Haruka giggled. “Stop it you, it’s too early for such things,” he said. He pushed his husband away and walked back into the room. “Ray, do you know who would want to kill Hiro?” he asked as he started to make the bed. “Probably someone who felt that Hiro was a threat to them,” replied Ray as he came from the back and put his arms around his husband’s waist once more. His fingers slowly unbuttoned his husband’s nightshirt. “Let’s stop talking about Hiro. Haruka I need you right now.” As soon as he said that, Ray gently pushed Haruka onto the bed, and with a wicked smile, he followed his husband onto the bed as well. “Oh... Ray,” Haruka uttered right before his husband kissed him. -----
Down the hall, Naru had just woken up. He opened his eyes and rubbed the sleep away. He sat up slowly in bed and gazed at the bright morning sun. “It’s morning already,” said Naru. Then he crawled out of bed and made his way to the bathroom. He showered, brushed his teeth and combed his hair before getting dressed. Then right away, he started folding and packing his clothes in his suitcase. He decided to pack first before going over to Ryuu’s room to wake his lazy boss up. A mischievous smile came onto his face. Well, he should make a trip to the kitchen first to grab some stuff before waking his boss up. As soon as Naru was done packing his clothes, he went downstairs to the kitchen and was surprised to see his boss’s parents already up. They were also surprised to see him up as well. “Good morning Naru, you’re up early,” said Haruka as he gave Ray his coffee. “Good morning to you both,” said Naru, and he quickly went about his business, searching the cupboards for what he needed. “Naru, are you looking for anything in particular? Maybe I can help,” Haruka offered to help the boy to find whatever he was searching for. "Found it!” Naru said out loud with excitement like a little child who just discovered a new toy. He grabbed the item and ran upstairs with it. “Haruka, what is Naru planning to do with that chili powder?” Ray asked his husband with a bewildered look on his face. For the love of God, he didn’t understand why Naru seemed so happy when he found the chili powder. “I don't know Ray, but I have a feeling that we will find out later,” came Haruka’s reply. ----
As quietly as a mouse, Naru carefully opened the door to his boss’s room and tiptoed in. He carefully closed the door, making sure to not make the slightest sound. He did not want to wake his boss up before he could get him back for what happened yesterday in the washroom at the restaurant. He quietly crept up towards Ryuu’s open suitcase. He shook his head when he saw all the clothes piled on top of each other. Just what he expected from his boss, Naru thought as he started taking the clothes out until he found what he was looking for. He smiled widely as he located his boss’s underwear. “All done,” Naru announced to himself thirty minutes later. He got up to leave, but before he could, he felt an arm slide around his waist. The next thing he knew, he was lifted right off the floor and dropped onto the huge bed. “What were you doing with my clothes Naru?” asked Ryuu, staring down at Naru suspiciously. He was surprised to find Naru in his room sitting cross-legged on the floor in front of his suitcase when he woke up. “Just packing up for you Boss,” Naru replied innocently. “If you don't believe me, you can go check it yourself. I folded your clothes and put them back in neatly to prevent them from getting wrinkled.” “Stay where you are,” Ryuu ordered as he slid off the bed and went to see for himself if Naru was telling the truth. Just like Naru said, his clothes were folded and placed neatly in his suitcase. “I see you were telling me the truth Naru. Sorry for thinking that you were up to something,” Ryuu apologized to Naru. “I can't blame you for suspecting me Boss, after all I did say that I was going to get you back for what happened yesterday,” Naru said innocently with a straight face. Inside he was bursting with laughter. “Now that you’re awake Boss, I should get back to my room and pack my own things.” Naru swiftly got off the bed and was out the door as quick as a mouse. Ryuu chuckled then grabbed a towel and disappeared into his bathroom.
----
One hour later Christopher dropped them at the airport. “Make sure you don't forget anything,” Christopher said right before he drove off. “Don't forget to call your dad Christopher," Haruka shouted just as Christopher drove away. “I hope he heard that.” “I'm sure he did,” said Ray as he took Haruka’s luggage. “Ryuu, what is wrong with you?" Haruka asked when he saw his son walking strangely. “I'm fine Dad,” replied Ryuu. There wass no way in hell he was going to tell his parents that his ass and balls were as itchy as hell. Damn soap. This was the last time he used a soap that was recommended by Rei. He should have just borrowed Naru’s soap instead, Ryuu thought as he tried to ignore the need to scratch the terrible itch between his legs. “What’s wrong Boss?” Naru asked with laughter in his eyes. He knew very well what was wrong, but he still couldn't resist asking. “Is there an itch somewhere you need to scratch Boss?” he added with a big smirk and walked ahead still grinning. Haruka and Ray who were behind the two of them, burst out laughing after they heard what Naru said to their son. So that was what the chili powder was for, they both thought. “What is so goddamn funny that you two have to laugh like a bunch of idiots?” Ryuu growled, not in the mood to deal with his parents. Ray walked over to his son and put his hand on his shoulder. “Listen Ryuu, this morning Naru came downstairs and grabbed a bottle of chili powder. Your dad and I were wondering what he was going to use it for, but after hearing what he just said to you, we finally understand why he was so excited when he got his hands on it.” Ryuu didn't need his father to finish. After hearing what his father said, he knew right then and there that Naru was the cause of his terrible itch. He swore under his breath that he was going to get Naru back. Right now he needed to get to a nearby washroom before they had to board the plane. ---- Naru was laughing like a little kid when Ryuu and his parents caught up to him a little later. He didn't notice them as he was too busy enjoying his little victory. Ryuu was furious as hell with Naru for playing such a prank on him, but once he saw Naru laughing like a little kid, all his anger vanished and he couldn’t help but smile. If it had been someone else who dared play such a prank on him, they wouldn't have lived to see the next sunset, he thought. However, just because he was no longer mad at Naru, it didn’t mean that he was going to let Naru get away with his prank. That was when he heard his parents whispering behind him, and a wicked smirk came onto his face. Ray leaned over and whispered to his husband. “Haruka, how about it for old times sake?” he asked his husband who knew very well what he meant. “Are you out of your mind Ray? We are too old for plane sex!” Haruka whispered back to his husband. “We are not old Haruka,” Ray told his husband and from the corner of his eye he saw his son approaching Naru. “I see that you are having a jolly good time Naru. Do you want to tell me what is so goddamn funny to make you laugh like an idiot in this crowd of people?” Ryuu asked, staring down at Naru with a mean glare that masked his true feelings. Naru wiped the tears of laughter from his eyes and smiled at his boss. “Nothing Ryuu,” he replied innocently. Ryuu sat down on the chair next to Naru and leaned over to whisper in his ear. “Once we get on the plane, your ass is mine.”
