Crimson Dreams

I sliced my finger quickly and deep on one of my stars before shoving my finger into Ethan's mouth. Three drops and his chances of living would double. I pushed him with everything I had across the room and he stopped against the wall where the slutty vampire was chained. I turned around in time to see Hayden charge Pyro and all of Pyro's guard changed him. I threw one of my stars into the heart of the demon closest to Hayden. There was a grunt as he turned to face me and the star exited his body. He fell to his knees in one of those dramatic movie ways before two vampires broke from the group charging Hayden to come for me.

In that lightening fast motion the first vampire reached me. With a powerful thrust he lunged himself for my neck. My right hand caught his throat as his momentum sent us tumbling backwards. We stopped with me straddling him and I dug my fingers into his throat and ripped with everything I had. His head was left hanging on to his shoulders by his spine alone. Depending on his level it may or may not kill him but it was damn sure enough to incapacitate him for a few minutes.

Without turning to look I threw the vampires throat into the face of who ever was running up on me. I turned just as the vampire wiped the blood from his eyes. It was the vampire who had searched me for weapons. When he moved to tackle me I jumped up and slammed my spiked heel into his skull and kicked off him to do a flip in the air and landed behind him. I slammed a star into his back and made a long stroke down. The sound of his heart shredding made two more men come running towards me.

I took a quick look to see Hayden kill a demon before blocking a blow to the heart from a vampire. I looked back at the two coming closer to me. They were playing it smarter than the others by approaching me slowly and calculatingly. They were finally treating me like a real threat. As they got closer to me I felt a vampire creeping behind me. The two in front were going to push me into the one coming up behind me.

"Looks like the Justice Hunter taught his pet a few tricks." One of them said as he faked a charge at me.

"You're about to find out how much I know."

A feigned attack for the one on my left made them both step back I dropped to the floor just as I felt the vampire rush my back and he went over me before I stood up and flung a star to his chest. I threw another star into the throat of the man on my right before charging the man on my left. I took him down but not before he got a good punch to my left side and broke two ribs. When we hit the floor I shoved my fist into his chest until it hit the ground beneath him and when I pulled my fist back out his heart came with me.

"You bitch."

The other man released his energy on me and I went spiraling into the wall. My head hit the wall hard and for a second my vision blurred before blacking out. When I could see again the man's fist was coming for my face. I ducked his blow before kneeing him in the groin. I crawled away from him as he cupped himself.

"Mad I killed your vampire friend?" I asked the demon as he cupped himself.

"Are you now the Justice Huntress?" His eyes flicked to Hayden quickly but I resisted the urge to follow his gaze.

If he wanted to play tricks than I could as well. His balls weren't hurting him that bad anymore but he had wanted me to look at Hayden so he could charge me. I took a deep breath and gasped as I held my left side where my ribs were broken. I still had one star left in my palm and he wasn't armed. I leaned back as if in intolerable pain. He took the bait and jumped on top of me. As my back hit the floor I shoved my star into his heart and twisted before dragging it upwards. The sounds of bones creaking in his neck sounded as the life faded from his body.

I heard footsteps running me and I pulled on my hand to get my star out but the blood coating my hand made the silver slippery and I couldn't pull it out. I rolled the demon off of me just as Hayden's power rubbed along my skin. I shivered with the feel of it as whoever was coming towards me started screaming. I rolled to my left a few feet before jumping back up to my feet. I turned to see a demon only a few feet from where I had been laying. He was lying on the ground screaming as chunks of his flesh and muscle burst from his body like rockets. It was as if there were tiny bombs everywhere in his body and they were detonating at the same time.

Hayden was walking towards me and the closer he got the bigger the chunks became until the demons screams finally ended in a deafening silence. Hayden was standing beside me now as I took in the carnage of the room.

"You need blood." He said as he bit a tiny chunk out of his wrist and held it up to me. "You won't heal those ribs fast enough and Pyro is still alive."

I took his hand in mine as I pressed my lips to his wrist. His blood tasted like caramel and strawberries with just a little hint of the normal blood taste. When the wound closed up I actually whimpered before biting into his wrist until he started bleeding again. I closed my eyes as the room tilted and started spinning.

"Stop." His voice sounded so far off.

He yanked his wrist from me and I snapped at him. Only his hands on my shoulders kept me from jumping on top of him and draining him dry. I wanted more of his blood and he was keeping me from it. I wanted to kill him and roll myself in his dead body as I licked his blood off my fingers like a well fed cat cleaning his plate.

"No more. You have to control yourself." He flexed his power against me and I seen his aura with mine laced intricately through it.

The sight of his aura reminded me that I didn't want to kill him. Why had I wanted to kill him in the first place? I have never gone into a bloodlust like that before and I have been around a lot of blood.

"I wanted to kill you."

"So I noticed. If I had been any slower to protect myself from you then you would have killed me."

"I've drank vampire blood plenty of times and never once have I been sent into a bloodlust."

He let me go and I sat up and moved away from him. I was afraid to be close to him. I had wanted to kill him and still some little part of me did. Hayden tensed just as I felt someone approaching us fast. I turned and looked to where Ethan was just in time to see Pyro slice his throat open. I screamed as I charged Pyro. He caught me around my waist and slung me into the wall above Ethan. Ethan's heart skipped a few beats as it started dying.

"Turn him Hayden. If he dies I die with him."

Hayden moved to Ethan and picked up the knife Pyro had used to cut Ethan’s throat. He pulled Ethan into his lap before slicing through his own throat. I watched the first splash of blood pour into Ethan's mouth before I stood up and ran towards the back of the house. I could smell Pyro and he wasn't going to get away this time.

Hayden called my name just as I ran out the house and into the rain. I dropped all my shields as I kept running after Pyro. He had taken off into the woods and I felt that evil smile as I picked up speed. I knew these woods better than he did and I heard him stumble a few times as he ran. With that metaphysical hand I reached down and pulled at that place where my vampire and demon met. I felt my aura shift and tighten around me before I seen the glow of my jade and sapphire skin reflect off the wet ground.

He was only a mile ahead of me and I used the thought of Ethan dying to propel me faster through the woods. I could finally see him as he jumped the main highway in one powerful kick. I followed him jump for jump and turn for turn while steadily gaining on him. He motioned as if to turn right before spinning around and going left. He hadn't fooled me and I caught him mid-spin with a round house kick that sent him curling through the air. His back hit a tree and the momentum caused his body to wrap around the tree's trunk backwards.

The sounds of his bones breaking were loud and I smiled as I grabbed his face in my hands and made him look at me. There was fear and shock in his eyes as he looked up at me.

"You?" He was panting. "You were the child the whole time?"

"Yes and as you can see I am quiet grown up and I really take it bad when someone I love is hurt."

"But you didn't kill him. I tried to make you do it but he did something that made you stop."

My head tilted in that predatory way as I looked at him. Pyro was the real deal. He really was the prince of falsehoods and lies. "I wasn't aware that you had anything to do with me attacking Hayden, but I thank you for giving me another reason to make this a slow and painful death for you."

"The human?" He asked.

"His name is Ethan and he is my best friend." I pushed my hand against his stomach as his body started healing. Soon he would be able to fight me but I wasn't ready to kill him. I wanted him to suffer.

His scream brought the sleeping animals out of their shelter from the rain as I pushed my fist through his skin and into his body. I grabbed a hold of the first organs I could find and pulled them out. The flesh of his belly gave way in a loud ripping sound as I pulled everything within his abdominal cavity out. I left his heart alone so that he would feel this pain and I left his lungs alone so I could hear him scream.

"That was for Ethan."

I pushed my fingers into his eyes until that sickly sweet smell of his eyes burning made me laugh. He was still screaming and the rip along his belly was mending itself with all those innards still trapped outside his body.

"That was for trying to make me kill the man I love."

I reached into the top of my dress and in my bra to retrieve a blade. I shoved the blade into his groin and started slicing until there was nothing left but a hole before pulling the blade back.

"That was for all the women you kidnapped, raped, and murdered."

I took my time as I cut through his chest, careful not to damage his heart. Instead of using the tool on the end of my knife I just ripped the section open before grasping his heart in my hands. I squeezed it tightly and he screamed again. He was begging me to kill him but I was going to take my time and enjoy this.

"Where is Raphael?"

"I'm supposed to bring Alex to him in less than an hour at the river walk."

The river walk was closed due to flooding because of the recent rains. It was a new addition to Macon but its fault was that it got flooded if we got a lot of rain. That hadn't been an issue when they first made the plans because we were in a draught with no end in sight. This year had been so rainy that the river walk had been closed for the better part of it.

"Thank you for being so helpful." I squeezed just a little more. "And that slutty bitch did bring you Alex. I am Alex Blane and what you asked for when you touched Ethan."

I tightened my grip on his heart and he screamed out again but this time I didn't loosen up. I kept squeezing until finally the muscle popped like a balloon in my hand. I pulled it free of its restraining body and looked back at Pyro's face.

"That was for trying to kill Alex." It was whispered since there was no one to hear it.

I held onto the heart and started walking back towards the house where Hayden was and hopefully Ethan was still alive.


I walked into the house to find Hayden standing beside a fire. I ignored the smell of burning flash as I tossed Pyro's heart into the flames. Ethan was lying in the corner and there was no heart beat coming from him. I sighed and sat down at Hayden's feet. He kneeled beside me and wrapped his arms around me. I couldn't break down yet. I had too much to do.

"It was the only way I could save him." Hayden spoke against my ear.

"What?" I pulled back and looked into his eyes.

"In three nights he will rise a new vampire of my line. Until he learns to control his hunger he will have to be caged somewhere."

"Thank you." I wrapped my arms and him and started crying.

"I heard Pyro's scream and figured you had everything under control. I came back here to make sure no one else tried to kill Ethan."

"We have to go to the river walk. That’s where Pyro was supposed to take Alex to Raphael. And Pyro was the real Pyro and he was the reason I tried to kill you. Murder by proxy lover I guess." I sighed as I rested my body against his. I felt my aura shift and my arms returned to normal. I wasn't blacking out this time. That's a good sign.

"I heard him. I also heard what you said and I want you to know that I love you too."

I smiled and pressed my lips to his as I crawled into his lap.

"I love you, Hayden."

"And I love you, Alexandria."
