The Change
Chapter 4
The Change
Isabella grabbed Antilles hand and dragged them off and back into the woods. The brush hit there legs as they sprinted into the brush. The trees rustled heavy in the wind. The clouds above were growing dark with the night. The moon was rising and there was no way of stopping Antille from dramatically changing tonight.
Isabella heaved heavy breaths as they stopped in the middle of the forest. She held to Antille’s hand tightly. Isabella’s hand settled on her blade. Antille looked worried and petrified. He was worried that tonight she might actually have to kill him. He knew there was no way to stop himself when he changed. He knew that when he changed the beast was going to take over.
Isabella saw the worry in his eyes and released her hand from him. He shook with fear almost shuddered. She placed her hand on his shoulder and he was tense to her finger tips.
“Antille I have faith in you, I believe you will not harm me.” She said as she stared with her blue eyes directly into his. He stared back. Blue against Green. The hues matching and he slowly nodded. She had faith in him, but did he have enough faith in himself? He began to ache all over.
Antille drops to the forest ground. Isabella kneels beside him. “Not now, you’re not ready now…” She says as she clutches shoulders and shakes him. Antille grunts and groans as he can feel his bones popping inside. Antille clutches to his stomach and doubles over. He groans louder. The moon is directly over head.
Isabella jumps back from Antille as he roars a scream and pulls back fully. Fur was growing all over his skin. Blood began to seep from up under. His bones broke and his form shifted. It looked painful, but by day he would forget everything. His nose extended and jagged fangs replaced his human shaped teeth. He howled as his ears perked up. He looked like a large dog you didn’t want to pet.
Isabella lowered on the ground and shielded herself with her blade. The beast towered over her as it stood in its full stance. She gasped as she looked at him. What use to be Antille. The beast began to growl at her, loud and low. It was frightening even the great warrior Isabella was frightened. Her heart pounded in her chest. Her neck tightened and it became hard to breath. She was panicking. What was she going to do?
“A..A..ntille I know your there fight your urge, I have faith in you.” She said as strongly as she could. Her words came out shaky. She slowly stood. He growled more and paced with her. “ Come on Antille, you don’t want to attack me I saved your life.” She said again. This time her voice was stronger and more sure. The beast didn’t move closer but the growl was still prominent. She slowly began to step closer to him. She almost imagined her heart rip from her chest it was pounding so hard. The beast didn’t move at all, but the growls continued.
