Maleficar
Chapter 15:Gilded Cage
Alan felt sick to his stomach as they had came to relive the police only for them to report that a man in utter black had aided them and gave them a thumbdrive.
It was revolting to see. But that wasn't why he was sickened because his body betrayed him. "We need to close of the northern road." There was no time to explain but he had worked with most of the police.
He was sickened that the way he planned it out was the moment the battle was committed, He was going to search for the void dancer. There was only one place he never went in his five years here in Bleakhaven.... Because something kept him out and that was the Darkfire club.
"Mercy we should open with that spell-" He did get to finish that thought because Burnt Stake opened fire on them and he sighed. It was going to be a long day he could tell. They'd would have too much trouble with the remnants of his order and the last of the police officers they could ensure that convoy never reached its destination.
Last time he had been weaponless and without armor this time however. He would be able to do alot more than mere support. He unsheathed his blade that burst into bright luminescence that rivaled the sun. "Mercy, on me" As his armor burst to shining golden life.
She nodded and he charged. Mere bullets wouldn't stop him, couldn't even slow him down. As they pinged off his armor ineffectively. His first swing clove through a car door and the man behind it. Its not like this could get any worse than it already was.-
He didn't get to finish that though as a Burnt Stake vehicle smashed into him. A shining weapon and armor made it incredibly easy to lock on to. However,
Paladin's didn't go down easy. They were the first tanks after all. Juggernauts against the malignance that dared to hide in the shadows
And he was resolute as the rest of his order.
His blade sliced though the glass and the steering wheel to impale the one who thought using a vehicle would bring him down.
The look of sheer disbelief as the light left the fanatic's eyes. Alan shrugged it off as the golden light of his armor invigorated his body from the minor damage of the collision and like a glacier slowly but inevitably made his way to the next unfortunate fanatic who sprayed him with bullets in an increasingly haphazard manner as he closed in. An ambush had caught his order by surprise yes. But they were down.... Not out
not by a long shot. Not until the last paladin issued their last breath.
The fanatic's eyes went wide as his blade came singing down...
Lucian was waiting for him in the main floor of the a strange smile on his lips. Mr. White the bastard who could appear anywhere was no where to be seen. Rue wanted to roll his eyes. Rue offered the briefcase. Lucian slowly took out a vial from his breast pocket. "A service for service." He began.
Rue finished. "Nothing more, nothing less" Lucian nodded. " So where you there when that eruption of dark magic occurred?".
"Not a chance, That would have probably killed me." Rue nonchalantly shrugged. Not lying could be fun because Agrippina was who he was in that armor
"I see, Well give Mr.White the briefcase."
Rue looked at him confused. "Why? When you are right here?"
Lucian's eyes narrowed but before he could say anything Mr. White coughed politely and Rue tried not to jump as Mr. White was suddenly next to them. Rue gave the briefcase over to him. As Mr.White touched he nearly dropped it from a static shock.Mr.White gave him a withering glare and brought it over and handed it and then Mr. White did take out a pair of gloves and put them on before picking up the vial in Lucian's breast pocket.
Rue hadn't paid attention to what Lucian was doing. There were two loud gunshots and Rue fell face first. His body spasmed from the sudden pain.
Lucian had just shot out his knees.
Rue didn't feel the pain much. Mere physical damage simply did not compare to the agony of branding one's own soul.
Lucian didn't aim for anywhere vital. Rue had to wonder why. A headshot could take him out far longer. But neither Lucian nor Mr.White had any sharp weapons in hand. In fact, Mr.White calmly placed the vial in his hand and Rue was suddenly in a large gilded cage.
Rue was going to have to figure away to stop that kind of maneuver. Pinki did that to him twice and he knew Mr.White set that up with the trigger on the vial.
He'd be interested if it was not for the fact his legs were useless and he was currently in a cage. It took some effort as one hand was around the vial but he did manage to prop himself up against the gilded cage's wall. He wasn't even bleeding.... But his knee caps were definitely shattered. Bones took forever to pull together and grow together. Not to mention, Cartilage was even worse. Knees helped support the rest of the body so he was going to have to attempt to stand up at some point due to the fact that the knees were important joints.
His only consolation was that Mr. White was not going to be of any help to Lucian soon. Rue hadn't used dark magic Lucian would have noticed. So he used the healing arts... for a different purpose. Mr. White wouldn't notice anything... right away. Lucian would not able to be whisked away when whom ever she was decided to come calling.
Rue was going to have to focus at the task at hand with the nagging question in the back of his mind. Why would Lucian incapacitate him rather than attempt to kill him? That was a worrying question with any number of unfortunate implications. There was nothing he could do for the moment but start the process of healing his body... Again. But it was way better than freaking out that his fear had been realized. He had been caged.
Bleakhaven was hazardous to his health and had he not been a competent healer. Rue might have been in serious trouble. He should be finished by nightfall...
