Chapter Fourteen - Aftermath
Chapter Fourteen - Fourteen
When the drunken pleasure died away and he woke to a quiet room smelling of the aftermath of a regretful night, Konbayoshi knew he was in trouble. He didn’t need to look to know that Kazuya was curled against him. He felt the even breaths that the other fanned out against his chest and Konbayoshi closed his eyes again. He could not begin to describe how shocked he feels regarding this entire ordeal. He was shocked to have discovered Kazuya here, he was shocked that he gave in so easily and the fact that Kazuya had even had the faintest idea of being together with him like this.
But Kazuya was drunk on alcohol and lust. His brain dutifully prompted.
And when he’s rolled that around in his mind enough times, he was convinced that no matter who had been in the room last night, Kazuya would have reacted the same way. The thought dropped a stone down the pit of his stomach and he knew the bitterness on his tongue was not just imagined. When Kazuya woke up, he probably wouldn’t even want to see his face. Konbayoshi didn’t want to leave but also knew that he could not take the face Kazuya would make when he came around and realized what had happened and who had happened.
So quietly and carefully, Konbaysohi disentangled himself from the warm limbs of the young host and dressed himself. In the mirror, he saw a solemn man and was shocked to see how much he resembled his uncle. Frowning deeply, the owner made sure that he was presentable before turning to leave.
His uncle is the only human being that he’s ever hated. He hated the fact that his uncle preyed on the weak and the helpless, ruined so many people’s lives and broke so many people’s hearts and minds. He despised the fact that he resembles his uncle more than his own father, or so that has been what everyone’s told him. And with what happened last night, he became his uncle as well. Kazuya was vulnerable, helpless and confused; even so, he had let his own desires and lust take control. What a despicable being he was!
The timed door was already unlocked, reminding him again that it was already the next day. So much for his birthday party…
… wait, it was his birthday last night!
Kazuya’s image was momentarily pushed out of his head when he pushed the door open with haste. He lacked a cell phone and did not even know when it was. Without doubt, he had over stayed his welcome and broke his promise to Chitose. One step outside and he nearly tripped over a bunched up body sitting outside the door. Catching himself before he stumbled to a fall, Konbayoshi looked down and recognized that it was Ren. The commotion had roused the younger and he looked up from his position. The two of them looked at each other for a moment before Ren jumped up immediately, an expression of panic and fear.
“Owner-san, I’m so sorry!” Ren launched into a long speech before Konbayoshi could even stop him. “I didn’t know that the door was fixed already! No one else knew the over write code either! And I borrowed your cell phone as well! Ah, which reminds me,” Ren quickly took out Konbayoshi’s cell phone and handed it back to the owner “Chitose-san called last night. But, I’m really sorry! I can understand if you want to deduct from my pay!”
Konbayoshi’s mind was already numb at the mention of Chitose. To think that the number one had waited for the entire night while he was in there and…
He could not even think on!
Quickly, he took the cell phone and brushed by Ren, fearing that the host would see through him. “It’s fine, don’t worry about it. Just go back to your room!” Again, in his haste to leave and the guilt ripping through him, he missed the grin that Ren sported behind his back.
Konbayoshi did not bother going back to his office for the over coat, instead he descended –via elevator- to the underground parking lot and hurried to his car. On his way home, he rehearsed a speech that he would use to excuse himself from Chitose. As much as he hated to lie to Chitose, he couldn’t tell the younger what had truly happened either.
It wasn’t because he thought Chitose would mock him. Then, what was it? At a red light, Konbayoshi realized that slowly, Chitose’s image was blurring with Kazuya’s image. He felt like he was cheating. Although Chitose and he have never crossed that boundary, but ever since he’s returned from university all those years ago, he’s vowed that in his life, there was only going to be Chitose.
No one else.
Who knows when Chitose’s image blurred and Kazuya’s became the main focus. Last night, although the excuse was to help Kazuya out, but the more decadent part of him knew it was more than just that.
And now what?
First thing’s first, he’s already made a promise to himself that he will not force Kazuya into anything. He will speak with the younger later, and if he wished, Konbayoshi could even set him free with a generous amount of money to secure the rest of his life.
Set him free… the bitter taste returned once again.
Turning into the Konbayoshi estate, he sat in the car and looked at the wooden manor. It was quiet like how he had always remembered, but he knows that his uncle will not be sitting in there with his four bodyguards that could destroy this entire world. No, this was worse. In there, sat Chitose who will smile at him gently like he’s always done and Konbayoshi will destroy himself inside out.
Getting out of the car, he looked into the main room first. Nope, no trace of anyone in there. From room to room, he searched. Finally, he knew he was just delaying for there was only one place Chitose could be. Stopping in front of Chitose’s room –once upon a time, it had been his mother’s room, as people have told him-, Konbayoshi took in a deep breath and knocked gently. There was no need to raise a loud noise in this surrounding. “Chitose, it’s me.”
“Come on in, the door is not locked.”
In the room, Chitose was already dressed and was in the process of brushing out his long golden hair. In the mirror, they caught each other’s eyes and before Konbayoshi could wonder what sort of expression he should put on, Chitose was already smiling at him. “Hiro-chan, happy birthday. I’m sorry it’s late.”
There, that pang in his chest nearly sent him staggering back. Instead, he nodded and walked towards Chitose. He knew his smile would be awkward, so instead, he chose not to smile at all. Not when his muscles were still tense.
“I called your cell phone last night, but Ren-kun picked up.”
“Yes, he borrowed it from me.”
“He told me that there was an unusual volume of guests and you could not excuse yourself. You must be tired, I’m sorry I was not able to help you out.” A small white lie.
“It’s not a problem at all; you know I can deal with them just fine.” His hand moved and took the brush away from Chitose’s fingers. He picked up a handful of that long golden hair before brushing through the tresses gently, eyes keen and he did not dare to wander. Chitose lowered his hands back onto his lap properly, watching the other in the mirror. “I’m sorry Chitose, I know I promised to come back.”
“It’s okay, Hiro-chan.” Konbayoshi wondered if the soft chuckle was truly fine. “I understand that many people want to wish you a happy birthday as well.”
But you’re supposed to be the most important person in my life.
“They mean nothing to me.”
“Ah, what is this? Is Hiro-chan becoming a loner again?”
Konbayoshi frowned and glanced up, ready to object when he caught the playful smile on Chitose’s face. All words were swallowed back and he could only apologize once more. “I’m sorry.”
“If you’re really sorry, then can you do me a favour?”
“Of course, anything.”
“Keep this favour of mine then.” Chitose said and reached for his hair and the brush, Konbayoshi let them go and watched Chitose continue. “In the future, if I ask for a favour, you will have to try your hardest to grant it, okay?”
“Definitely.”
So he smiled again and Konbayoshi knew that he’s always been spoiled, tended to and forgiven with that smile.
“Good. I cooked breakfast; it’s still warm in the kitchen. No matter what, you must eat the noodles and drink the seaweed soup, okay?”
“Of course.”
It was easier than he thought, almost too easy. Turning to leave, Konbayoshi wasn’t particularly hungry, but to make up for his guilt, he will complete everything that was asked of him. Behind him, he missed the fading of that gentle smile on Chitose’s face.
Ignorance, truly is blissful.
Like Chitose had pointed out, in the kitchen, he found all that he needed to find. And during the process of eating, he thought his mind would calm. Maybe Chitose was fine after all. From the beginning to the end, Konbayoshi had been the only one who held such feelings towards the younger. From the beginning to the end, Chitose had always reminded him of their rank differences and looked at him as a child.
Even if he was older than Chitose.
Finishing the meal prepared, he wanted to throw away that napkin he used. In the garbage bin, he thought he saw what looked like the remnants of a birthday cake. Then, that bile mixture of nasty emotions ate away at him again.
[Opiate]
“So, how good am I?”
Bakusui looked up from his morning paper when Ren strolled in. When he admitted the other into his room, he was expecting a dejected face and not one that gloated with each breath. However, Bakusui refused to give him the pleasure of confusion and merely returned to his paper.
“Not particularly good. You’re a bit rough in bed and can’t seem to do well with words.”
Ren felt his eyes twitch at the threshold and quickly stepped forward to rip the newspaper away from Bakusui’s hands. “Our bet, I’ve won it.”
Bakusui’s eyes followed his newspaper that was ripped away before he lifted an eyebrow at the other. “What bet?”
“Kazuya finished the last stage of training.” You know, the stage that you cannot seem to complete. Ren wanted to add that on verbally but decided to do so with looks alone. To his satisfaction, Bakusui did drop that careless look and fell into a silence that was definitive of heavy thinking. The trainer was deciding on his next move. “Come now, you can just praise me and we’ll get even with this. Of course, you have to give me those days off that I asked for.”
“I want to speak with Kazuya.”
“What for? I can assure you that he was very satisfied with the evening.” Ren presumed anyways. The owner didn’t look like someone who was a virgin in bed.
“He was fine and willing?”
“Oh come on! I’m not into raping people!” Besides, Kazuya was probably very willing, if not taking the initiative; what with how much aphrodisiac he had in him.
“I still want to see him.”
So the trainer stood up and gestured for Ren to follow, to which, Ren could only roll his eyes at before following obediently. Fine, be like that!
[Kazuya’s Room]
Getting off the elevator, Kazuya wandered down the hallway aimlessly. His body knew where his room was, his mind didn’t want to care at this moment. His body also knew what happened last night while his mind was running wild with the implications. He can’t say that he was surprised when he woke up to an empty room in the morning, but he can’t say it didn’t hurt either. The bed lingered with the smell of Konbayoshi’s cologne and Kazuya thought he was going to cry.
But he bit his lip and got dressed slowly. Every muscle in his body was sore, but it was a good sore one second and a dreadful kind of sore the next second.
Kazuya didn’t even try to fool himself; he knew that it meant nothing to the owner. If someone else had been in his place, the owner probably would have done the same for them. Kazuya knew that he was no special someone, but when he remembered how kindly Konbayoshi had treated him last night, he couldn’t help but wonder if there was another explanation for the absence this morning.
Maybe someone had called him away on an emergency?
Yeah, sure, why not.
Now… now, the only motivation for him is to become a full fledged host. Then he will work extra hard, so hard that he will surpass Chitose and grab that number one spot. Maybe when he’s number one, Konbayoshi will look at him a little bit more, care for him a little bit more. His hand was already on the door knob when voices stopped him.
“Kazuya.”
Quickly, he composed himself and turned around to face whoever had called out to him. Coming down the hall towards him were Bakusui and Ren, his felt his heart speed up at the sight of them, especially Ren. He prayed to all that’s holy for them to be oblivious of what had happened last night.
“Bakusui-san. Ren-san.”
Ren nodded towards Kazuya but said nothing; it was obvious that Bakusui was the one who will be doing most of the talking.
“Ren told me that” Kazuya’s heart was already beating abnormally fast “you’ve now finished all the required trainings for a host.”
So they did know!
Kazuya’s eyes widened and his face paled. Quickly, his glanced fleeted towards Ren before returning to Bakusui. Slowly, he nodded but kept his gaze down. Bakusui looked at Kazuya carefully, but he did not miss the look that was sent to Ren. To him, the young one did not seem to be in a good mood, maybe something did happen after all. Glancing at Ren for a moment, Bakusui decided to step closer and look at Kazuya carefully.
“Was everything alright?”
“Yes! Yes, it was fine!”
How could he say anything bad about the owner? That side, it really had been fine. Between the stimulation of the aphrodisiac and Konbayoshi’s touches, he had been more than thoroughly satisfied.
“You know that soon you will be changed to a full host status, right? Are you okay with that?”
“Isn’t that what I’ve always been working towards?”
“If you are sure.”
“I am sure.”
I am sure.
He repeated it to himself again, reassuring himself that it was the correct response.
After all, he’s already lived his dream of being so very intimate with the owner. Then, what does it matter who touches him in the future? He’s already given the man he loves everything he’s made of.
To be continued...
