WTF
I wasn't going to update tonight. I was going to go to bed. Still am going to bed way early, so no Sequel update (sorry) but I figured I could wait fifteen minutes to finish this off for you all. Feeling mildly better, but more drained than usual after work so ... not as much writing is getting done as I'd like. And I've started "plotting" Hopefully tomorrow night and Wednesday will be better. No Tuesday/Wednesday thing this week. Whoot. And I have a lot of time off this week. Which is good for recovering and for writing. Yay me. See you all tomorrow night. Read, Review and Enjoy.Mik leapt away from the view of panties and slid in behind Paw, using the Sidhe as a shield. Wern didn’t try to hurt him, luckily for him, she just huffed and folded her arms and pressed her knees together. Indicating that the skirt had not been planned and she was as horrified as he was that that had happed the one time she was wearing a skirt. “I’m sorry that happened!” He said quickly, “… it… it’s a nice skirt though. From. This angle.”Wern went bright red but she still managed a nod and relaxed slightly as she, Galt and the other members of the board stepped off of the elevator. The president was not among them. Two others were missing, though Mik could not for the life of him remember their names or even their positions.“We’ve come to dictate what we decided in your absence.”Mik’s heart skipped a beat. That didn’t stop him from walking around Paw and placing himself between the Sidhe, all the Sidhe and the people. He folded his arms and gave Galt his best tough guy look.“The Sidhe have informed me that they will not be obeying any law that you lay down unless they want to. They are an entirely different species than us with a different culture.”“They are still on our land.”“Their land, religiously, historically, they were here first, it is their land and we live on it by their good graces,” Mik snapped back in response to Galt, “perhaps you should all read up on the Sidhe before you start throwing your fucking weight around. This is their land and we are the intruders, who they have permitted to build and live upon their land.”“We created nations under their watch, they have to deal with the consequences of their actions.”“They didn’t make the nations, we did, it is our actions we are asking them to accept the consequences for, not their own.”Paw very calmly set a hand on Mik’s arm, patting it as he stepped up beside Mik, “it was our own inaction that allowed you to think you are more than pathetic meat bags.”“That’s very rude Paw, do you know that?” Galt asked.“Should have just ate us all,” Mik muttered back to Paw, “you probably could have made us like we’ve made sheep. Dull eyed and stupid by now. And Galt, if you make one more fucking patronizing comment to my Sidhe I will file a complaint. Or encourage him to eat your face, whichever route is faster.”“We are here to deliver our message, our new law and nothing more.”Souse wound his way across the room and stepped up beside Mik, “very well. And in response, you shall have our message.”“The Sidhe are to offer up their powers to be used in military applications.”“No.” A calm, collected answer.“You will do as you are told.”Souse gave his head a little shake, “perhaps it is never possible to simply allow your species to come to its own conclusions. Well… not as a whole. Broken into smaller units,” Souse gave Mik’s arm a pat, “it is very possible for your people to make proper choices without power blinding them.”What was up with the arm patting?“You will obey the laws or you will be thrown out.”“Contradicting Norash’s statement that they will support the Sidhe with any means necessary,” Mik growled.“Any means necessary includes them paying for-”“Their powers cannot be used for military-”“I am your better-”“Like I fucking care!” Mik and Galt were standing toe to toe, Mik looking up into the taller man’s eyes but not backing down. Learning from the Sidhe had taught him a lot about dominance and he wasn’t about to let the larger man throw his weight around, “They won’t do it. End of story. Go ahead and kick them out. Try it.”“Don’t you be telling me what to do,” Galt reached to grab Mik’s shoulder, to push the man out of the way. Paw slid effortlessly between the two men and backhanded Galt so hard the man’s neck snapped around and he collapsed to the floor. The other people stood, staring down at Galt, utterly confused. But none of them seemed confused when the man got up like nothing had happened and just stood in place. One heartbeat, two. “They will do as they are told!” Galt jabbed a finger at Mik. Where the fuck was Paw? Mik glanced over his shoulder and saw the Sidhe lazing idly against a support pole, looking bored of all things. But that had just been. It had. And with the.Had it been a strong thought? Was he losing his mind?“And if that means we have to force them-”“Force them? How?” Mik looked back at Galt, eyes narrowing as he glared at the larger man, “guns? Do you really think guns will work on them? You want to use them against guns anyhow, as an ultimate weapon, how are you going to force them?”The men Galt had brought with him upholstered their hand guns and clicked off the …safeties… Wait. What?Mik had a second to wonder what the fuck was going on, yet again, when one of them raised their gun and shot off a round. Mik turned towards where the man had pointed his gun and there was Essuan. Blood welling out of her shoulder. The female was not going down. Far from it. She looked pissed. And then in a blur she was across the room and tore the man’s head from his body and threw the head at Galt, catching the man on the shoulder with a bone crunching thud. Mik grimaced as Galt shouted, grabbing a hold of his shoulder. All guns were on Essuan. All fired and the female was still standing as the bullets popped out of her body, one by one, tinkling on the floor. A man got wise and aimed for her head and even as Mik moved forward to stop him, she ducked backwards, avoiding the bullet, as she brought her long leg up and caught the man under the chin. Blood came from his mouth as his head was snapped backwards at an unnatural angle. Essuan moved through the people like death, dropping them all. And an instant later they were back up and Essuan was gone. Mik’s heart skipped a beat, his meagre lunch rose in his stomach. He grasped what was going on but was helpless to watch it. Someone had made some kind of communal mind. Locked the people in it. “You will make them see-”Mik threw up, all over Galt’s feet, choking as he fell to the floor. Everything spun and he was pulled away from the puddle of vomit, a cloth pressed over his mouth to wipe away the remains. Someone clutched to him desperately as his vision swam. He looked around and didn’t understand any of it. What was going on, what wasn’t going on. His head exploded in a vicious hang over esc headache. He was back in reality. The board members were by the elevator, collapsed, eyes open and moving. Stuck in the communal mind still. Mik sobbed out his relief to be out even as Paw drew him closer, pushing his head against the Sidhe’s shoulder. Murmured Sidhe words were spoken and soon Mik was covered in a blanket and there was another body by him. He was cold, so cold and he couldn’t stop crying. Galt had wanted the Sidhe to use their powers in a destructive way that the military could use and they had. Just, not on the people Galt had wanted the powers used on. Mik was certain he was back in reality but couldn’t seem to convince himself entirely that it was true. Even as Paw rocked him back and forth, murmuring comforting words to him, he couldn’t believe that he was safe again. .
