Recovery
This was a back cover to a poetry book I turned in for Creative Writing. It was sort of a revelation tied in with the Dealing With the Pain series. What turned my poetry around for the most part during that little depression, was all of my other friends that would constantly check in with me, and a few who routinely checked my arms for new scars....yelling at me if they saw even one...They never truly let me fall. So to honor them I wrote the poem Recovery.
Recovery
My spirit is flying freely,
And I fixed my shattered soul,
I have found a loving heart,
Where once there was a hole.
My friends were there to help me,
So many times they watched me fall,
They were there to be my strength,
And they saw me through it all.
They were there for all the heartbreaks,
They saved my life a time or two,
They were even there for me,
When I thought I had lost you.
This poem is a thank you,
For each and every friend,
They helped me every time,
And they’ll be there until the end.
