Part Eighteen
When the gang entered the girl’s city, they split up into groups to get supplies.
William followed Funmi to her church. The instant they stepped foot into it, little kids ran up to her. They hugged her tightly while they chattered about how much they missed her. The little group followed her to the altar. People started to enter the church and before long, she was starting a service.
He stayed to watch her.
He had always hated places like this. Ever since his wife was killed, he didn’t really believe in any kind of religion. But watching Funmi and these people that she guided...it was almost infectious. They swayed and sang to the music and listened with avid attention. He too was entranced by her words. She didn’t just read from the bible and translated. She related it to life and made you want to believe.
It was an entirely new feeling for him. Belief. Living. He was only a hollow shell of his former self. But she forced him to open his eyes again.
After the service, he followed her into a backroom and sat at the small table with her.
“Thank you for helping me get back here.”
“You do know that you’re going to be leaving again, right?”
“Yes, I do know. The Goddess has shown me the way and I will follow. At least I can tell the people here and find someone to take over for me while I’m away.”
They sat in silence for several minutes. It wasn’t awkward at all. For the first time in so long, William was at peace. Something about her softly spoken words and kind smile made him instantly relax.
Little Kitty purred and rubbed herself against Funmi’s legs. The priest smiled and patted her gently.

“Stop following me.” Jen glared at Ray before she pushed her glasses up the bridge of her nose.
“What if you get attacked or something?”
“I can take care of myself. This chain isn’t just for decoration.” She glanced down at it before looking back up at him, gaze softening slightly. “Look, I just don’t want you to know where I live, okay? And I’m usually not so...short with people I’ve just met. I’m just worried.”
“About what?”
“I live in this city with my baby sister. We have a neighbour that helps us out but still.”
“Then...how about you meet me here in an hour so I know you’re alright?”
Her pale eyes showed her conflict. “Okay. But...why do you even care? Don’t think that by being nice to me you can get into my pants.” She glared at him again.
“No, no, no.” He held his hands up defensively. “It’s just...you’re part of the gang now. We look out for each other.”
She didn’t look convinced. But she nodded anyways and walked away from him.
Ray sighed wearily and leaned back against the streetlight. He shoved his hands into his pockets and waited. He could look around a bit and then come back but if she came back earlier than the hour, he could see her sooner. //Master?// He smiled at Lilith. ‘Yes?’ //Do you like that Human? Is she going to become my mommy?// He slipped slightly off of the light pole before straightening himself up again. ‘Lilith.’ He mumbled warningly. //What, Master? I like how she feels. And you feel...hungry around her. Do you want to eat her?// He slapped a hand to his forehead. She was so innocent and didn’t understand the double meaning to her words. ‘Just go to sleep, please.’ //Yes, Master.//
But... “I really would like a taste of her.”

“You live alone?” Marrick was in hell...again.
“U-um...yes, I do.” Ayame placed the tea set between them on the table and kneeled on the opposite side.
She poured them both a cup and sat with her hands in her lap, staring down at the table’s surface. The things he could easily do to her...he sipped at his tea. It would take zero effort to reach across the table and pull her to him. He would kiss those lips gently and position her in his lap. He could imagine her whimpering and squirming; see her cheeks flushed slightly.
‘Oh Gods...no more thinking.’ He was getting hard just thinking of her.
“So...why do you live alone?”
“My mom and dad died in a car accident a couple of years ago. I’m an only child so I don’t have any siblings. My parents left me everything when they passed away so I was able to survive. I eventually got a job and started saving more too.”
“I’m sorry.”
She looked up at him then. The smile she gave him was nearly his undoing.
“It’s alright. The people who live around me, those I grew up with, tend to shy away from that topic. But I don’t want them to.” She shook her head and giggled slightly. “I want people to talk about them. It makes me remember them more. And that always makes me happy.”
She was so strong. He was amazed by her. She may look small and it may seem like the slightest breeze could blow her away...but there was more to her than that.
“What were they like?”
Her eyes lit up as she began to tell him about her parents.

Nicole sighed as she flew in circles around one of the tall buildings. She cloaked her image so no one could see her. When she rounded a corner, she flew right into someone.
“Hey!” She was about to blast whoever it was but stopped instantly. “Emmett? What are you doing here?”
“Thought you could use some company.” He smiled at her.
“You’re the best!” She hugged him tightly.
He hesitantly hugged her back. It was times like these that he had to remind himself that she was married and that they were best friends. He would never dream of hurting her. Ever. Unlike her husband. He was starting to suspect Kayn would leave on purpose when Nicole came back to visit Heaven.

“Ya know, this is getting really old, really fast.”
“You think so? I’m still thoroughly entertained.”
Rain spit the blood out that had collected in her mouth. She had been wondering around, minding her own business, when she was pulled down an alleyway. She fought back instantly. When they reached the end, Crawford had shoved her against one of the brick walls, causing her to bite the inside of her cheek and a cut to appear above her right temple. The next thing she knew, Majick laced chains held her arms above her head.
“I didn’t know a Vampire could use Majick.”
“Now you do.”
He planted his left arm next to hear and held her chin by the other. He turned her head to the side and licked the trail of blood that slid down the side of her face from the cut. She shook her head to get him to stop but regretted doing that when a wave of dizziness struck her. She clenched her eyes tightly shut. She felt his lips press against her neck and trail lower. He tore apart her vest and licked at her right breast through the material of her dress shirt.
Her eyes flew open. “Hey! Stop sexually harassing me!”
“Why should I? Lust adds a unique taste to the blood. You have a very rare taste: lust, anger, fear, pride, restrained power, and a distinct brand of evil. You like to torture others with mental tricks. I can taste it.”
“Restrained power?”
“You can’t hide it from me. I know exactly what you are.”
She almost stopped breathing as he smirked at her. There was no way he could know.
He bent his head down and bit into her neck. She let out a small cry at the pain. She felt his hands skimming over her body and couldn’t deny the effects. He was right. Whenever he was around her she felt everything he tasted in her blood. One day she would give into him and have the best sex in her life. But not yet. She wanted to make him bleed for once. So until then...she’d go without.

An-chan pulled Steve into an ice cream store. They ordered what they wanted before finding a table. They sat on the same side of the booth. Steve placed his arm across her shoulders as she sipped happily at her chocolate milkshake.

I decided to give An-chan and CM a break for once. Let's see how long it'll last. >XD
