ANS: Here's another one.
Alex drove Darren home. On the way to Darren’s house it was really quiet. No one knew what to say. Alex was wondering about the true story behind Kyle and Eric’s relationship, and if he would have even a minimal chance with Kyle. Darren was thinking about how it had been unfair to treat Kyle like crap since they have met. He was also thinking about Alex’s obvious feelings for Kyle and what to do about them. Kyle was thinking about school the next, and what he would do if he saw Eric. In the middle of his thoughts though, Kyle drifted off to sleep, utterly exhausted after the day’s events.
As the car pulled to the front of his house, Darren looking beside him and smiled at Kyle’s sleeping form. Without saying anything, not wanting to wake up the “sleeping angel”, Darren got out of the car and waved to Alex before entering his house.
It was a ten minute drive before reaching his own apartment. Alex looked to the backseat and smiled, truly not wanting to wake Kyle up. He knew he had no choice. Kyle still had not eaten any dinner and if he was to wake up in the middle of the night, he‘d be really hungry. He lightly shook Kyle, not wanting to scare him. Kyle mumbled something in his sleep and did not stir. Alex shook him a little harder, and Kyle slowly opened his eyes, blinking in confusion as well as clearing the sleep induced fogginess.
Alex smiled in genuine fondness. “Sorry to wake you up sleepy head, but we are at my place.”
Kyle shakily stood up on his own 2 feet, nearly collapsing from weakness.
Alex was right next to him and caught him though. “Are you ok?”
“Yeah, I am just a little tired. I am always like this when I first wake up. I just have to get my bearings.”
They entered the apartment and Kyle looked around, while Alex went to get something for Kyle to wear for the night. There were paintings hanging up everywhere. Kyle assumed Alex was an art buff. There was also a lot of pictures of Darren, an older woman, and an older man. ‘It must be his family.’ There was also tons of books of every genre it seemed. There was mystery, crime, science fiction, fantasy, non fiction, western, and even romance. He faced Alex who was watching him in amusement. “You really like reading, huh?”
Alex shrugged.
“You even like western and romance?”
“Maybe I do, so what?”
Kyle looked down, feeling embarrassed. It was not his business what kind of books Alex read. He was being a little too nosy for his own good.
“Kyle, I found these. They are probably going to be a little big for you, but it will do for the night. The bathroom is in my bedroom.” He gestured to a door. “Go change and bring me out your clothes. I will wash them tonight.” Kyle did as he was told.
When Alex had the clothes, he started the washer. Kyle was looking around again when Alex laid a hand on his shoulder, making Kyle jump a little bit. “Have a seat. We need to talk.” Kyle scooted out of Alex’s grasp and sat on the single person chair, which did not go unnoticed by Alex who sat on the couch. “Will you tell me what your brother does to you? I have a general idea, but I want my idea more specific.”
Kyle crossed his arms, immensely displeased. “You told me you would not make me tell you anything. Are you going back on your word, now that we are alone?”
Alex sighed. “No, I am not. I just want you to know that I am here to talk if you want to.”
“Well, I do not want to, so let it be.”
“Understood, but there is another issue that we need to discuss. It is the sleeping arrangements. I only have one bedroom and then there is the couch.
I was thinking you could take my bed and I would take the couch.”
Kyle looked down at his hands. “That is not fair. It is your place. I have no problem sleeping on the couch.”
Alex shook his head. “I want to give you my bed.”
Kyle looked up at Alex with imploring eyes. “Please, let me sleep on the couch. I am begging you.”
“Is it that important to you?”
“Yes.”
“Fine, but I feel really bad about it. Now I am going to make you something quick for dinner. You had gone to Sonics Drive-thru, I assume, to eat. You never actually did though. You got so distracted by Darren and myself. Does a grilled cheese sandwich sound alright to you?”
“Yes, thank you.”
“No problemo, whatsoever.”
Alex stood up and went to the small kitchen. Kyle changed his seat and went to sit on the couch. He yawned, feeling really tired. He decided to just rest his head and laid down. His eyes grew heavy. He decided to just rest his eyes and close them until the grilled cheese sandwich was done. He did just that. Almost simultaneously, he was dead to the world in a deep sleep.
About fifteen minutes later, Alex came back into the living room with the grilled cheese sandwich and saw Kyle’s sleeping form. He smiled in amusement. ‘Maybe I should have just let him sleep in the car and carried him in. He is not eating dinner and he would not have fought me on the bed versus couch debate. Too late now.’ He went back into the kitchen with the grilled cheese. He put tinfoil around the plate and the plate went into the refrigerator. ‘Just in case Kyle gets hungry for a midnight snack.’
He went to his hall closet and grabbed the extra blanket he kept stored away for when it was colder at night during winter. He went back to the couch and laid it over Kyle. Kyle seemed to snuggle into the warmth the blanket offered. He gazed at Kyle, waiting for the washer to be done. He checked the clock, and then went to check the clothes which were done and wet. He switched them over to the dryer and began it. On the way to the living room once again, he shut the kitchen light off. Before retiring to bed, he looked at Kyle in longing. He really did looking like a “sleeping angel” when his face was not scrunched up in anger and looked at peace. He flicked the lamp off and went to his own room. He stripped down to his boxers and got under his own covers, wishing that there was someone else in the bed with him. He drifted off to sleep promptly.
In the middle of the night, Alex was jolted awake out of a very nice dream by a loud scream. He rushed to get out of bed and in his haste, got tangled in his blankets and sheets and fell on the floor. As he swiftly got untangled, he ran into the living room to see Kyle thrashing in his sleep as if he was trying to throw something or someone off of him. Alex rushed to the frightened boy’s side and tried to wake him up. Kyle seemed to increase in his thrashing movements. Alex gave up trying to be gentle after getting no where and started to roughly shake him.
Over Kyle’s screams of terror and panic, he yelled to be heard. “Kyle! YOU ARE HAVING A BAD DREAM! WAKE UP! WAKE UP! WAKE UP!”
Still sleeping, Alex had to fight off Kyle’s wailing hands and must have missed his legs, for he was kicked right in a place guys do not like getting kicked. He stopped shaking Kyle and took a sharp intake of breath, willing himself not to shed tears over it. He cupped himself as he kneeled on the ground, fighting the pain. Absurdly, Kyle chose that moment to wake up with a jolt as he sat up, his eyes popping open. He was breathing very raggedly, trying to calm himself down.
“I am glad to see you up.” Alex said in raspy voice, still willing the pain to go away.
“What are you doing on the ground and why do you look like you are dying?”
Alex stood up straight on shaky legs which almost gave out. He sat on the couch Kyle was on, facing him. “Well, I was waken up by your screaming.
When I was trying to get you to wake up, to come out of the obvious bad dream you were having, you had flailing limbs and one of your legs struck me in my most treasured region.”
Kyle gasped. “Alex, I am so sorry. I did not mean too.”
Alex smiled in a very understanding way.. “I know you did not. It was an accident. You were not even conscious. I can’t be mad at you over that.
Now, lets get back to that dream.”
“It is much more accurate to call it a nightmare.”
“It definitely seemed to be pretty nightmarish the way you were carrying on. Do you want to talk about it.”
“No.”
That was said a little too quickly for Alex’s liking, which made him suspect. “Was it about your brother?”
“You know me way too well, considering we have not known each other for too long. That is kind of a scary thought if you think about it.”
Alex ignored that comment. “Talking about bad dreams usually helps.”
“You just want the whole story about my brother.”
“That is partly true. I want to be able to help you, and I can’t if I do not know the whole story. But I was telling the truth when I said talking about dreams helps get over them.”
“Well, I am not talking.”
“You are so stubborn.”
“What is your point?”
Despite the situation, Alex could not help but smile at Kyle’s cuteness. Alex changed his position so he was sitting next to Kyle. He silently took Kyle into his strong arms, feeling him stiffen in surprise. After a moment, Kyle relaxed into the embrace, not used to being held at all. He liked the fuzzy feeling it gave him though. It made him feel like nothing and no one could harm him.
Alex was rubbing gentle circles in the small of Kyle’s back? “Do you feel better?”
“A little bit”, Kyle answered in a suddenly shy voice, just now realizing that the only clothing Alex had on at the moment was a pair of boxers.
“Try to get back to sleep then. I am going to do the same thing.” Alex made a motion to step up, but Kyle stopped him.
“I do not want to be left alone. I’m scared.”
Alex settled himself back on the couch, and took Kyle into his arms again. “How about this, ou sleep in my bad with me, does the sound alright?”
Kyle shifted uncomfortably. “I do not know if I feel necessarily comfortable with that idea.”
Alex thought for a moment. Although he did not know exactly what happened between Kyle and his brother, he had a good hunch, and he did not want Kyle to feel scared or uncomfortable at all. “How about this then? We will sleep in the same bed. The condition is that you will be under the covers, while I will be on top. There will be no contact in the least bit unless you want it. The bed is a king and I do not toss and turn. Would that be ok with you?”
Kyle looked hesitant. “Ok. You know it is not because I don’t trust you, right?”
Alex smiled. “I know it has to do with your brother, but you do not want to tell me so I can’t help.”
Kyle gave a genuine smile. “You are not getting anything out of me yet.”
“Yet? Does that mean there is a small chance you might tell me?”
“Very small chance, but there is one.”
Alex gave Kyle a one armed hug. “Now that you are awake, do you want that grilled cheese sandwich you never ate? It’s in the refrigerator.”
Kyle laughed. “Yes please.”
“Let’s go get food in your tiny tummy then.”
“Ha ha. You are so hilarious. Literally, I am splitting my sides.” Kyle replied in a monotone voice.
“I know I’m funny. Everyone always tells me so. You want to eat or not?”
“Yes.”
“Then stop yapping and get up.”
“You say I am yapping? Maybe you should look in the mirror.”
“Maybe you should look at who’s talking.”
Kyle stuck his tongue out. Alex stood up, holding his hand out to help Kyle up who took it gratefully.
As Kyle watched Alex heat up the grilled cheese sandwich, his mind began to wonder off into la la land. Alex held himself so well. He radiated confidence, which is something Kyle truly desired. The confidence is probably what made him a Dom. “Alex, I have a question. Are Doms usually really confident in everything they do?”
Alex looked at Kyle in curiosity. “Where is this coming from?”
“I am just curious.”
“Doms are usually confident in many things, but not everything. No one is confident in every single thing they do. It is not possible unless you have no sense.”
“Are subs usually meeker and unsure of themselves?”
Alex shook his head. “It is a common misconception. If one is a sub, it does not automatically mean they are meeker. In some cases they are, but not in all. Subs do not like to be in control. They want to give control over to another person, hopefully a person they trust to not abuse that power. Subs do not always know what is right, and they may unknowingly do something that could seriously injure them.”
Kyle cut in. “It is a Dom’s responsibility to make sure their subs do not hurt themselves and to teach them what is right from wrong.”
Alex nodded, impressed. “That’s true. Where did you hear that from?”
“After our meeting, I got curious and I did some research over the internet.”
They were silent, not knowing what else to say. Thankfully, the microwave beeped, causing a distraction.
Kyle ate his sandwich thinking about a dominant/ submissive relationship. He knew Alex stressed that it was different then straight out abuse. He just could not get pass that notion. He was so lost in his thoughts that he did not realize he had finished his grilled cheese sandwich until he went to pick it up, and nothing was there. He looked down in surprise, making Alex laugh.
“You want another one?”
“No, I just did not realize I had finished it.”
“You did seem to be in your own little world. How about a penny for your thoughts?”
“You are way too cheap. They are worth a lot more than a lousy, rotten, stinking penny.”
“Does a quarter do it?”
“Not even close.” Kyle had a firm face, but a yawn ruined it.
“Someone needs to go back to sleep … and you should. You still have school tomorrow. I definitely do not want you to fall asleep during class or your drama rehearsal. Darren will accuse me of being a bad influence. Come on, go to the bedroom and get under the covers.”
“Ok. Thank you for the sandwich Alex.”
“No problem. Now … GET INTO BED!!”
“I’m going, I’m going, I’m going. Jesus Christ.”
“Watch your language young man.”
“Ha Ha. You can’t tell me what to do. I am not one of your subs.”
Alex widened his eyes as Kyle left the room. Kyle’s words were ringing in his ears. ‘not one of your subs … not one of your subs … not one of your subs …’ Kyle was right; they were not in any kind of relationship, but Alex wanted to be. Alex was not stupid though. He knew he could not rush anything with Kyle. He did not want the younger boy to be scared of him. He needed to let Kyle be by himself for awhile. He had to grow a backbone and stand up to Eric, once and for all. He needed to learn how to stand on his own. When everything was over, and Kyle could finally move on, he was going to try a relationship with him. Hopefully, Kyle would want to be with him.
He cleaned the kitchen up and went into the bedroom. There was no movement in the bed, so Alex assumed Kyle had already fallen asleep. As he laid into bed, he shivered. It was a chilly night, but he had promised Kyle. He was not about to break that trust.
He tried to get comfortable, but all he could think about was that he was cold.
“Get under the covers.”
He jumped in surprise. His assumption about Kyle being asleep was totally and completely wrong. “What?”
“Get under the covers. Even I know it is a bit nippy, or whatever you want to call it.”
“I promised you though.”
“I do not want you to get sick all because of me. Just get under the freakin covers and stop fighting me on it. I am offering, so it’s ok.”
Alex got out of bed, and slid between the sheets and blanket, loving the warmth it provided. As he tried to get comfortable, he felt a body getting closer to him. Alex was a little surprised that Kyle would go so far as to actually burrow next to him, but he was not going to complain. He liked the feeling of Kyle’s body. He hesitantly put his arms around Kyle, afraid it would be going too far, but Kyle made no objection. They went into a dreamless sleep.
